Amazing when you think this happened back when we were young and kicking ass. I was in college, working, raising kids and barely had time to think let alone got to concerts. I never saw them live. Imagine my thrills and chills to sit here, an old lady now, rocking my brains out, full volume. Yeah, I could watch them as they are now cuz that's on youtube too. No thanks. Give me the full blast in the brain. That's what I want. What brought them together like this at their musical peaks? God only knows, but I'm grateful I'm here.

I have recently read a bunch of interviews on Roger Glover about DEEP PURPLE from 1970 until he and Gillan left the band in 1973. Glover stated that Purple in '72 toured 44 weeks out of a possible 52. the Eighteen month period from January '72 until about July 1973 was DEEP PURPLE's golden era.
Saw them at Hershey Park Arena in PA that same year. Blackmore threw his Strat about 20 feet in the air and caught it like it was nothing. Best rock show I had ever seen. Played almost 3 hours that night.
WOW! What a show! The most appreciated musicians made their best in this live concert showing their best. It made speachless. What a bunch of great musicians. Absolutely great. Always remember You. Hope You to see somewhere in the future in Europe. Juha

It was such a subtle change. But, I never carried my cell around and never watched it non-stop. Probably cause I remembered when I never had one. Big difference in generations.
Hard to imagine how that made sense, as they were the highest grossing band at the time. OMG! Blackmores guitarsound at that time was beyound magical!! So clean, but yet slightly overdriven, and he had a lot of sustain. Custom Marshall amps helped (wayyyyyy higher output than usual, but very high maintenance), and he ran his Strat through a tape recorder (not recording) to fatten up the sound. He always used only the neck or bridge pickup at once, and his sig Strat has Seymour Duncan quarter pounders on it.

Ian paice Wow - tight !!!!
One of the very best!
We all came out to Montreux
On the Lake Geneva shoreline
To make records with a mobile
We didn't have much time
Frank Zappa and the Mothers
Were at the best place around
But some stupid with a flare gun
Burned the place to the ground
Smoke on the water
A fire in the sky
Smoke on the water
They burned down the gambling house
It died with an awful sound
Uh, Funky Claude was running in and out
Pulling kids on the ground
When it all was over
We had to find another place
But Swiss time was running out
It seemed that we would lose the race
Smoke on the water
A fire in the sky
Smoke on the water
We ended up at the Grand Hotel
It was empty, cold, and bare
But with the Rolling truck Stones thing just outside
Making our music there
With a few red lights, a few old beds
We make a place to sweat
No matter what we get out of this
Ha, I know, I know we'll never forget
Smoke on the water
A fire in the sky
Smoke on the water
Was previously described as being from '73, good to know which.
A VERY loose show but still has a lot of highlights. Ian Paice playing beautifully.
