I have tried using custom ROMs on various phones such as Micromax Canvas 2, Canvas HD, Samsung Galaxy S4, Redmi Note 3, and Cool Pad Note 3. However, I realized that as newer phones were released with better features and hardware, rooting and flashing were no longer necessary. Moreover, during that time, I was at college and hence stopped experimenting with them altogether.
Started with Pixel Experience to Havoc to Corvus to Havoc again then lineage to evolution x to cr droid and many many more - on my Redmi 4 Currently using crdroid on Redmi Note 9 Pro Max!
I have tried almost all custom rom...in my first device redmi note 5....i used to change pixel to cr driod to havoc to lienouge os...almsot all within 2 week...my first experiment phone device...redmi note 5..while doing sometimes its stuck on boot...but still its feels so good while doing some command to install twrp...its feels like doing some hacking stuff... it nostalgic moment...but yeah everything comes to an end
I haven't tried pixel rom . But my first rom was Lineage, enigma and many similar to Lineage os only . That was a golden era for me . I still use that Lineage os 17.1 in my old device

What's the main difference in the ui of the nowadays mobiles is that there are MOST OF FEATURES now available in their stock rom , so no need to install custom roms anymore

In March of this year, last month was the first time i used a custom rom, that too i went with a deprecated version of pixel experience. It is the best thing that has happened to my old redmi phone, although the battery sucks, i love the smooth, bloatware free adfree experience in the stock android. I would have loved Android 14, but now it seems it's time to say goodbye to my device.
Using custom rom around 2014.. first device was sprint gelexy s4(sphl720)... But from 2021 stop using them Most of device launched from 2021 are mostly perfect & there's no reason left to use custom roms.
the big reason about going down of craze of custom rom is that google doing shits like banning device fingerprints ..so device not certifies .Some banking apps are not working on unlocked bootloader and now some users has also faces whatsapp login issues in custom Roms.

Me corvus os 14.5 use kiya tha 2021 October me . Fir 5 month's baad kernal change karte time phone hard brick ho gaya tha 😢 , but bohot jyada research k baad me unbrick kar liya tha wapas se 😃 . Fir me kabhi custom ROM use nahi ki or ab mera purana redmi note 8 pro device Android 11 miui 12.5 tatti par hi pada hai . Or me tabse 3 or new device le liye .
i used to use PE+ in my redmi note 8. have to say i had a pretty good experience with it. i used this phone for 3 year only the first year i used the stock mi ui after that i moved to pe. last year i sold that phone due to bugs that you get with custom rom and moved to moto edge 40 which has a built in stock os to avoid bugs and have a hassle free experience. But had to say it was a fun experience messing with my phone os.

@@zidoff depends on the device tree. Some developer will make a ROM pretty stable with his own device tree and it will be epic, whereas another developer will make it with their own tree and it won't be that stable.
Maine pehla custom rom pixel experience install kiya tha (Asus Max pro m1...Asus waalon ka update schedule kaafi kharab tha) 2018 me phir maine kaafi roms install kiya. Magar 2020 ke baad maine pixel experience plus par hi rahne ka vichaar kiya. 2021 me maine phone ko exchange kar diya aur uske baad custom rom daalna band kyunki realme narzo 30 pro me available hi nahi hai.
Zenfone max pro m2 me lineageOS and Pixel Experience rom use kara tha maine with Google camera, really good experience but later wo bootloop me stuck ho gaya tha phone or multiple times rom reinstall karne pe bhi fix nahi ho raha tha so I gave up but it was a fun experience
Bhai you are wrong about one thing. Custom ROM were popular in 2013-2021 because people had to change devices in short period of time because of technology advances and introduction of new features and softwares rapidly. Custom ROMs helped to port newer software and features to old smartphones so that people could enjoy those new software and features without having to buy a new phone. I purchased HTC explorer and ported HTC desire ROM and many others to many devices for features like newer Android version and features like smile detection and focus in cameras and many other features. ROMs were also popular because many app developers like FB Instagram and a whole lot others started excluding backward compatibility because of which apps became useless as soon as the Android version advanced. To keep using those apps and games without having to buy a new phone, geeks like me and you opted to install custom ROMs to unlock full performance along with latest software and apps. Nowadays, processing power has advanced so much along with multi year software update and support, people automatically enjoy all new features and softwares with as low as 2-3 years upto 7 years of updates supported without making you feel outdated. This is the major reason custom ROMs are starting to die away slowly but will never disappear completely bcoz of developers. Secondary reason custom ROMs are less popular now is the complexity of unblocking bootloader and rooting your device that one mistake can brick your device permanently. Also companies have made it difficult to unlock bootloader without their permission with MI being the first one to do so . A normal person finds it very hectic to follow procedure without mistaking at atleast one of the steps ultimately bricking the device. Anyways, the video was good.

I started my journey on HTC sensation as HTC ui was extremely slow and I wanted to get more performance out of my device but in doing so i bricked my device and the device got wasted. Then for 2 years I used huawei y6 and didn’t even thought about custom rom. Then next phone was again a redmi phone the in famous note 5 and the custom roms were again there to help me but this time i was installing resurrection remix. What a mind blowing custom rom !! Did tons of custom roms on it untill it died. Again back on huawei p30 lite. Ran it for like 2 years and then my next device was redmi note 9s and again installed pixel experience on it. It’s sad to know that now i’m not able to get pixel experience android 14 on it. Think now I’ll probably have to move on another android 14 based rom.

I was using Project Elixir GSI for many months, then I hard bricked my Poco M5 (no way to bring it back to life because of helio g99) and changed motherboard for free (may be service centre guy don't know what is bootloader) then after repair I download Hyper OS and install it, currently very satisfied with Hyper OS and make me feel like miui was so bad then.
Bought yu yureka in 2016 then I started to do experiments on it flashed custom the miui custom rom then i got redmi note 5 pro i tried the google pixel experience that was an amazing experience then it got pixel experience plus rom no bloatware just a clean setup used this till 2019 and i must say regular updates no lags in ui the rom delivering the smooth experience that i nver got in any other ui now using iP 11 since 2019 then I stopped doing such things to phones but recently bought the poco f1 from second hand market to do experiments 😅

I installed Turbo HyperOS A14 custom rom in my redmi note 10 pro, what an upgrade, basically now my POCO F5 running HyperOS eu and Note 10 pro are now almost same in smoothness, it comes with advanced textures also which is currently only available to Xiaomi 14 series and all hyperOS gallery features and Xiaomi's generative ai that generates our image with prompt , i am so happy 🥰🥰, Also my POCO F5 is converted into a Xiaomi phone as HyperOS Eu is a China based rom and in china poco = redmi HyperOS with icon animations 🥰🥰

Customisations provided from custom roms during Android 4.0-4.4 were insane and the customisation options slowly started to drop after Android 5.0

My tried first Rom Was Pixel Plus on Redmi 8a Dual. It was emotion. And later pixel experience We will miss this thing. ❤❤

Mera Asus zenphone max pro m1 2019 ka.. aaj bhi pixel experience me run kar rha hai.. achha khasa. Waise asus ka software bhi awesome smooth tha..

I purchased HTC explorer and ported HTC desire ROM and many others to many devices for features like newer Android version and features like smile detection and focus in cameras and many other features.
ROMs were also popular because many app developers like FB Instagram and a whole lot others started excluding backward compatibility because of which apps became useless as soon as the Android version advanced. To keep using those apps and games without having to buy a new phone, geeks like me and you opted to install custom ROMs to unlock full performance along with latest software and apps.
Nowadays, processing power has advanced so much along with multi year software update and support, people automatically enjoy all new features and softwares with as low as 2-3 years upto 7 years of updates supported without making you feel outdated. This is the major reason custom ROMs are starting to die away slowly but will never disappear completely bcoz of developers. Secondary reason custom ROMs are less popular now is the complexity of unblocking bootloader and rooting your device that one mistake can brick your device permanently. Also companies have made it difficult to unlock bootloader without their permission with MI being the first one to do so . A normal person finds it very hectic to follow procedure without mistaking at atleast one of the steps ultimately bricking the device.

My first custom OS was CyanogenMod (which changed to LineageOS later). Some old days!
I started my journey on HTC sensation as HTC ui was extremely slow and I wanted to get more performance out of my device but in doing so i bricked my device and the device got wasted.
Then for 2 years I used huawei y6 and didn’t even thought about custom rom. Then next phone was again a redmi phone the in famous note 5 and the custom roms were again there to help me but this time i was installing resurrection remix. What a mind blowing custom rom !! Did tons of custom roms on it untill it died.
Again back on huawei p30 lite. Ran it for like 2 years and then my next device was redmi note 9s and again installed pixel experience on it.
It’s sad to know that now i’m not able to get pixel experience android 14 on it.
Think now I’ll probably have to move on another android 14 based rom.

And Pixel Experience was the first ROM installed on Moto G3.
I used Moto g turbo, almost the same phone. Pixel experience saved it

But retained G3. Pixel Experience was the ROM I used the most in it, specially it's GO version. Over the time I had tried almost all the available ROM - LOS, venom, paranoid, POSP, AOSP extended, Crdroid, revenge, AOSiP, Omni, mookee, Flyme OS etc.

My first phone was redmi 2 using custom rom but now it's dead.
I was using Project Elixir GSI for many months, then I hard bricked my Poco M5 (no way to bring it back to life because of helio g99) and changed motherboard for free (may be service centre guy don't know what is bootloader) then after repair I download Hyper OS and install it, currently very satisfied with Hyper OS and make me feel like miui was so bad then.

Bought yu yureka in 2016 then I started to do experiments on it flashed custom the miui custom rom then i got redmi note 5 pro i tried the google pixel experience that was an amazing experience then it got pixel experience plus rom no bloatware just a clean setup used this till 2019 and i must say regular updates no lags in ui the rom delivering the smooth experience that i nver got in any other ui now using iP 11 since 2019 then I stopped doing such things to phones but recently bought the poco f1 from second hand market to do experiments 😅

I installed Turbo HyperOS A14 custom rom in my redmi note 10 pro, what an upgrade, basically now my POCO F5 running HyperOS eu and Note 10 pro are now almost same in smoothness, it comes with advanced textures also which is currently only available to Xiaomi 14 series and all hyperOS gallery features and Xiaomi's generative ai that generates our image with prompt , i am so happy 🥰🥰, Also my POCO F5 is converted into a Xiaomi phone as HyperOS Eu is a China based rom and in china poco = redmi HyperOS with icon animations 🥰🥰
