Airtime hill was very much needed, for how little they brought to the table with how much they hyped it up, and the name could’ve either remained the same or given a cooler name
Let’s be fair though I don’t think “they” hyped it up, it was all the TH-camrs that hyped it up. But yeah a little double up would have been cool as well as an airtime hill
Agreed that long run after the spike looks kind of boring
I've yet to hear anyone give better alternative names for the coaster that sound equally basic, generic, or derivative. I kinda feel like people would complain about the name no matter what.

I mean, I thought because people called it simply dragster. I would call it dragster 2 or dragster 2.0

I think most People just wanted a new, original name. Maybe something like "Formula Racer"
People are going to shorten any name regardless, for simplicity, so I'm sure it will just be called "dragster" and everyone will get over it
I totally agree with the name, the first thing I thought was they built this in Roller Coaster Tycoon and just forgot to change the name.
I am not as thrilled with this as other people claim, unless they are just saying that to cope with how underwhelming this is. Dragster was really all about the intense launch, not the top hat. They could have used this opportunity to really make something spectacular with this space of the likes of Maverick and SV, this was not it.
100%. With the space, Intamin's vertical launch would have been perfect to go over 500'. Now we have a coaster with a total price tag of $40 million?? that is getting less thrilling as time goes on. It may be fun, but it probably won't be better.
The speeds stay the same. If you don't go as high on the spike or tophat, then you will get a bigger boost in speed. Win either way.
Most coasters start great then end "ok".
Good coasters keep the pacing through out the ride.
Elite coasters gradually get better as the ride goes on.
That's why at a stand still 74 will seem just fine.
120mph gets you to 420ft
60mph gets you to 210ft so
74mph gets you to 259ft on the top hat
101mph on the vertical spike gets to 353ft.
The new trains will be nothing short of great.
Dropping Dragster from the name was necessary. Because it sure as hell doesn't launch like a dragster anymore.
It's a Formula 1 car.
I bet the line will look like the Magnum after the first season.
Ok, I was expecting a reverse lifthill launch (50mph backwards upwards the spike to the top and releasing the car) to improve throughput, but not a triple launch.
But apart from that, this was what i was expekting.
yeah the spike will be great! think again!!! Superman: Escape from Krypton is doing that for more than 20 years now and no one ever got excited about it.
I love the name and the logo too. I’m so happy that this is happening and we get this coaster back! And everyone saying the wait times will be more well it’ll probably equal out to normal if it doesn’t go down all the time. A working and reliable Top Thrill 2 I will take !!
Im still excited for it, but, I'm not gonna lie... I'm kinda disappointed. I knew there would be no airtime hill, because they never changed the launch track footers... So, I was kinda ready to accept that. The names kinda dumb... But I can live with that too. My main problem that keeps me from being as excited as I would have been, is that weak ass roll back. I was excited at the aspect of getting the roll back every time, but if the rendering and animated povs are any indication... we are NOT getting that experience. It appears the front of the train MIGHT hit maybe 175 feet... Doesn't look like the rear of the train even gets vertical, I think it would have been WELL BETTER served for that first launch to get closer to 90mph.. So at least you would get 3/4 the say up the spike, maybe the first couple of cars get into the twist toward the top. The Spike looks like it gets BETTER height... but still not getting near the top. But, Oh well... kind of a missed opportunity in my opinion. But, I'm happy it's at least still there, and I'll definitely be going to ride it next year.
I'm in the minority; I'm fine the the Top Thrill 2 name. I'm not surprised that they are staying with that ultra iconic theme.
It’s not a creative name but who cares. It’s just a name. It doesn’t change the experience. I think it would’ve been cool to add. May be a little double up before the spike or something like that. But I still think it’s gonna be a fun ride. Hopefully with the fast track switch capacity is pretty good.
I'm curious how the rear spike will feel compared to the tower on Superman at SFMM when it was launching the train in the backwards direction. I'm also very surprised to see that the line is still in the center. It looks like they have some shielding on the sides, but still.
I thought they would move the line too! I think the backwards launch will surprise people.
My home park is MagicMountain. I love the backwards launch up, superman. It’s really cool to be up there and looking straight down. I if I could have one complaint that I would say I wish the first lunch went a little bit higher up the top hat, a more true rollback. But I’m not complaining. I think it’ll be fun. I hope with the fast track switch they can get a high capacity.
It's a bit odd that they're taking out the grand stands.. Also the new / old station looks very weird. I understand trying to keep the old statin roof for nostalgia.. but they probably would have been better just starting from scratch.
The name is a little dumb but I love the logo. That backwards launch is definitely going to be the best part no one is really talking about that they are so focused on the first launch

@@detroitdiezel7856 40 mins isnt bad and wouldnt be bad AT ALL for this ride but 1 hr wait is my limit depending one the ride. i got a gold pass for cedar point so i go all the time im so im not gonan wait and hour for a ride that would only be 30 another day like no lol
I can't freaking wait cedar point has always been my #1 kings is will always be my 2 I visit ohio in May June July August and then also Halloween ends my only favorite time of year 🦇 🎃 💀
What made them stick with the intamin track design though

74 mph launch is lame. Better than it being closed but the ride is not anything like the original experience. Never was a fan of these rocking mechanics. I like fast launches.... Really was hoping for at least 100 for the launch... Luckily kingdom ka still exists for now....

It looks pretty unexciting to me. It looks like a worse version of a ride that wasn't all that great to begin with.
If every ride gave the same sense of excitement there would be no point in new rides? Wanna get throw outta your seat? Steve gwazi maverick. Big drop? Dive. Sense of speed? Any giga or strata.
