I am 64 and I, too, have been fond of long-distance cycling since about 30 years old. But since I do not come from a wealthy family and have always had to earn money for my wife and children, my travels were limited to vacations. Now that I am retired and my children have become adults, I have more time for long journeys. But the strength also became much less.
I love the way she laughs when she describes how she thought she might die. I wish I had her spirit.
you can just tell how happy and likeable she is :D
When she was climbing the mountain, for three days and eating biscuits and vomiting and loving cycling... I was in love too

I like cycling I did a cycle ride with my dad from Amsterdam to Germany Potsdam It was a long ride but we did it in stages

Came to shimshal valley in hunza northern areas of Pakistan. People are so welcoming. Many cyclists come there. I am a guide and i rode cycle with many tourists

It sure helps if your companion on a tour has the same plans as you do. Destination rider or tourist makes a great deal of difference.
regarding training for a ride; if the ride is less than a month then you will want to train and have your legs in good shape prior to beginning the ride. If the ride is longer than a month you can use the first few weeks to get in shape. This has worked for me in my 5 rides in China and Vietnam covering 10,000km.
