a lot of them play, but no stream perms due to china conflict. Bili2 wanted hololive to come back, so they gave perms provided it is streamed on B2.
Honestly China's little pinks thought Holo would be done for if it were not for Chinese money, but they proved them wrong. Now it's chinese gaming company and stream site actually wanting Hololive to play their game and stream there for the marketing.
While I'd hate it if the toxic nationalist would bite back against hololive again, It's nice that actual fans get to see their oshi at home ground, and talents can stream chinese game they liked.

The real reason the Coco thing blew up like that was all about business rivalry - a Chinese virtual streaming company trying to oust Hololive from China. Those little pink you mentioned, most of them weren't even vtb fans. They just got sucked in by that company's rumors, and back then, all the Hololive accounts on Bilibili were managed by ordinary clip man who had little to no contact with Cover, but they could running those accounts. These clip man weren't paid, they were just fans.So they just didn't know how to handle PR stuff, and Cover's PR game was weak too. Can you imagine a company entrusting its business operations to regular people like that? That was Cover at the time - not the big player it is now, just a small, fledgling company. For the real fans, it also was devastating. But now, Maybe with Cover's bigger reach and better PR skills, they're confident they can handle stuff like that, so decide to come back.
