Join me in this weeks video as we explore some incredible hidden waterfalls and canyons, followed up by a seascape sunset. I'll also show you a little tip for exposure blending for water movement. Cheers!
Great video with a blend of technique, inspiration, and more technique. I love what you say, "Let the shot find you". I couldn't agree more with that in all aspects of life. Bravo.
Involuntary "oh wow" just burst from within as I looked at those images. Such beauty and such talent! What an expedition that was. So good of you to share it with us on TH-cam and show the blending water technique. Can't express how amazing those look. !

Wow William. Just loving the content you are putting out these days. I just went to the "New Work" section of your gallery to take in and thoroughly enjoy your recent shots. Just breathtaking. The hard work you put into getting to all these different paradises is definitely growing your portfolio shots. Pretty much each photo you shared in this video looks to be in that category. What incredible locations and conditions, and some good slogging to get in and out. Also loved the exposure blending tip. I would love to hear more about your technique(s) for getting things sharp while handheld, and especially while often holding the camera with only one hand. Thanks again for taking those us from afar, with you. Fantastic stuff!
Each time I see your videos, I just want to buy a ticket and come to New Zealand.. Great video and you don't hold any tips or information for viewers.. Good job 🫡
Awesome little adventure. I'm slowly converting to leaving the tripod at home and just bringing a carbon fiber monopod as a hiking stick / camera support for longer exposures.
Hi William, I kind of do some of this photography as well, but I used to tripod. I have a travel tripod that is extremely light and waterproof as well. In other words it can go underwater and no problems at all cleaning it. It's the light.ULanzi and it's very easy to carry. I get the whole stacking thing taking two images and doing it all handheld, but I do believe you could've got this shot with a tripod as well in a single shot. I'm not a fan of blending maybe it's just me but the other thing is certain cameras have really good ibis my Fujifilm camera, I can go down to a quarter of a second and still get a sharp image and it does depend on the camera you're using. Thanks for the video man it's really good
Cheers mate. I wouldn’t have created it with a tripod because I was balancing on the wall precariously. A good portion of my images just wouldn’t be possible with a tripod for that reason. The comps are just in tricky spots that would be near impossible or very time consuming to set up a tripod. That said, it really doesn’t matter if one is used or not. Personally I don’t need one so there’s no point dragging one for hours of hiking and bush bashing if it won’t be used or needed. However, a good portion of my students can’t shoot as slow as me or don’t have ibis, so I am still an advocate of using one if you need to. Cheers mate.
Thanks for this video and the hint. It's good to know. I basically use the technique- to take lot of photos (e.g. 20) with some exposure for a sharp photo and than I combine them in Photoshop and get in the end nice smooth photo like long exposure. It's maybe not as perfect als a real one, but for me it's a good way. Because I never take a tripod with me :-)
Beautiful stuff, Will! I've used the same technique to blend long-exposure water with a shorter exposure image, but here in Louisiana it's never a waterfall (or any really flowing water) -- It's just a long exposure wind-blown lake through an ND filter. LOL
Hey Will, love your content man been following you for a while now. I’ve been trying to find a decent pair of waders that are waist high do you know any you can recommend? I also decided to ditch my tripod on my last trip too and came back with some cracking shots happy days
Thanks so much brother. Honestly, no recommendations on waders. Mine are very basic and to be honest they’re very uncountable haha. The best path is to get some pro fishing ones that have decent boots.
That seascape composition is amazingly beautiful

Awesome little adventure. I'm slowly converting to leaving the tripod at home and just bringing a carbon fiber monopod as a hiking stick / camera support for longer exposures.
Thank you. You’ll probably find you’re more stable using the camera against your face, with elbows locked.

One question, how do you go about finding locations? I stay in Fiji Islands and i wanted to know your process, thank you for your time
Using topographic maps, google earth and also just letting curiosity guide me.
