Today, I discuss in detail my full pitch for the story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A based on what we know so far, history from the real world and what I'd like to see.

Especially with the poke ball, its worth it to mention that Kalos in the modern era has a huge poke ball factory. It would be so cool to see how in the past them innovating the poke ball will lead to Kalos being a huge part of the manufacturing industry
True! Perhaps that’s basically the corporate headquarters of the modern invention, so to speak, since this game would show us the origin of mass manufacturing and distribution of it.
The Kalos Starters all got their own signature moves, but got distributed to many other Pokémon as the years have gone by. They’re Spiky Shield, Mystical Fire, and Water Shuriken!
I completely forgot about those. That’s probably why! I do using Water Shiruken back in the day and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

I think they should get another signature move of their secondary type, like Delphox gets a Psychic type “Spell” move, Chesnaught gets a Fighting type “Shield Bash” and Greninja gets a Dark type “Water Katana”
The second you said flair, it all made sense. Lysandre running a team for Diantha called team flair and then using his influence to ultimately create team flare and the goal to a whole new level, not only making it 'more beautiful' but endless eternal beauty
Right, I think it could start out as a genuinely altruistic nonprofit or government program seeking to create beauty, before being corrupted over the generations by the time we get to X&Y. Like I said towards the end of the video, striving for beauty can be a noble thing but it can go too far very easily.
I think it would be hilarious if it’s spelled “flair” instead of “ flare”.
Zygarde is a big pissed off Eco-Terrorist and also Loki's 3 children at once.

With what it looks like, I hope the human models don't look off. In Scarlet and Violet, some of the NPCs look like they don't belong in the world of pokemon.
I agrée, there’s a certain level of cartoonishness I hope they preserve. It’s a key aesthetic of the franchise

i’m a big believer in getting 3 mixed starters and then be given the kalos starters with megas, it makes sense because it’s like the original game’s kalos starters then being given the kanto starters with megas

My headcanon for the redevelopment plan is that they’re making Lumiose a perfect balance for both people and Pokémon making Lumiose also an Urban Habitat which some cities have done especially with honeybees by making some buildings have natural pseudo Beehives in the winter for any wandering queens and such
That would be cool! Urban green spaces and ecology are a major topic right now for many cities, so having themes of sustainability in a past game would be interesting.
Yep and could be modern day aswell like a few years after the events of the game and could also come into account of new Kalosian variants found and discovered in Lumiose city like maybe Kalosian Totodile found in the sewers
I'd like to customize half-urban/half-natural landscapes where you can place tiles anywhere you want like the Johto safari zone but much vaster and with verticality, maybe involving buildings where floors can be green houses for different biomes. And depending on what tiles/biomes you placed next to each other, different pokemons would spawn. So the gameplay loop would be building a zone, exploring it for new pokemon, and rebuidling to try for new combinations.
I guess the game would have to be in the (near) future then.

Hopefully it’ll be half as good as your Pokemon Z pitch. I’m hoping we get an explanation that the ultimate weapon was powered by some mega evolution Pokemon. Gen 7 had Necrozma have pieces of itself lost as Z crystals, Eternatus’ energy causes Dynamaxing, and Terapagos’ energy causes terastalization, so it’s weird we don’t have a Pokemon who gave regular stones infinity energy for mega evolution to occur.
That would be an interesting idea and flip from what we know already, which is the weapon created mega Pokemon through its fallout. So it would be surprising if the weapon was powered by a mega that somehow existed before the origin of most megas.
I always thought Diancie had something to do with Mega Evolution considering its a mutated Carbink, with exactly 100 more stats. And can mega evolve
Also it's a Mega Rock, it just seems closely tied
We know that AZ sucked out the life force of many pokemon to activate the Ultimate weapon. The stones in Geosenge and the nearby route are the graves of those pokemon. This life-force is later named infinity energy in ORAS, iirc, and is the reason mega stones exist as the energy changed stones into mega stones
@@TechnoArpan I actually didn’t know that. So there’s already a lore reason for it. I still think we’ll get an A legendary even if it’s not releated to the mega phenomenon
I can imagine Zygarde getting 3 new forms - 5%, 25% and 75% - based of Odin's ravens, Thor's goats and Valkyrie's horses.
It means that Zygarde would have 6 forms so you could have a whole team of them in Gen 10 with multiple ZA savefiles.
Equating it to the 5 Nobles of PLA + final Volo-like boss being the Perfect Form. Hoping for Primal Xerneas/Yveltal too.
As for the A letter, I can see a new lengendary since PLA had Enamorus. Maybe a squirrel based of Yggdrasil's Ratatoskr.
Given how Zygarde has Aura Break, maybe its Cells can unlock Mega Stones by "breaking" the irradiated Fairy/Dark aura.
And given how Mega Items may not exist yet, these are rudimentary and we'll need materials like in SV to craft them again.
It paints Mega Evo similar to Alpha Pokémon and the Alola Dex Entries. Loved the world expo idea due to Prism Tower.
Given Kalos's Kanto-isms in XY, imagine this happening in the Pokémon calendar year of 1896 - a century before RGB.
I can see the Kalos Starters being the ones we pick because PLA mixed them solely by having the Sinnoh ones in BDSP.
Besides, if they do get Mega Evos, it would be weird to have them in the wild as something optional and not displayable.
Another gen mix would paint them like the Kanto ones in XY. Also, how could we have Regional Variants in just one city?
Heck, for all that we know, they can give all the Galar Starters a 2nd round or make the Elemental Monkeys the Starters!
Now those Zygarde forms are incredible ideas. I’d love to take a stab at designing em!

I still find it hilarious that Johto fans were expecting a lets go or Legends Celebi because of Johto's longer absent or Unova fans expecting a Legends Kyurem/BW remake because of the Indigo disk

I dunno, but I want to see a paperboy-version of Diantha, somehow to underline how far modern Diantha has come and that she hasn't become a champion and fashion idol by relying on generational wealth (something you would quickly connect to a France Region)
Now that would be really cool!
I'm really wondering if we'll see Ultrabeasts, as Guzzlord is essentially an anti-Zygarde but never really had anything come from it, and LA had its own version of Fallers. And if we see the gen 6 mythicals gets some love, Hoopa itself is known to create wormholes to other realities.
That would be pretty neat. We got Zygarde in Gen 7, so Ultra Beasts in Gen 6 would be like poetry… it rhymes.
@@TamValleyProductions A theory about Zygarde being in Alola too is that it's to combat UB's, and it would make sense that that would be a holdout from Gen 6's seeming original vision to be about fighting off an alien invasion.

I think maybe we’ll get two sets of starters like in X and Y, maybe it’s the Kalos pair and a new trio, maybe it’s the Kalos trio and Hoenn, maybe it’s just Kalos and the Kalos starters.
But I agree people are saying legends set up patterns but one game does not make a pattern

More than one set would be fitting! Would be weird if the base games had 2 starters (3 if you count the Torchic freebie at the time), and this game has *only* one set
If this takes place in the past how would they revive gen6 fossils plus aerodactyl. The only way I can think of how this works is Hoopa’s rings being treated like space-time distortions like in PLA
I think Hoopa will most certainly have those going on. It’s the only way we get Aerodactyl like you said, plus more futuristic/modern megas like Metagross or Mewtwo.
this is my idea for the starters, as we would get 2 starters, just like in XY (the first without a Mega, the 2nd with a Mega)
the first we get, are from different regions, and get regional forms (my guess, Snivy, Piplup & Scorbunny (likely all brought by Laventon in this story))
but later, we get to choose from the Kalos starters, who get new Mega forms
I like the idea of Laventon traveling the world with random assortments of starter Pokémon
Tbh, regarding the starters, while I understand your reasoning for just giving us the old Kalos starters again, I feel the Kalos starters will just be treated the way the Sinnoh starters were in Arceus. They're not the starters for this game, but we will be able to find them in the wild. (Ex. You can find an area with a few Froakies walking around, with maybe a fully evolved Greninja with them like a pack leader.)
It would be swell if they also gave the old Kalos starters some special attention via Mega Evolutions as well. Always found it weird that GenVI was the gen that debuted Mega Evolution, and yet Diancie was the only GenVI Pokemon that got a Mega Evolution. I assume because the mindset of the devs was giving Mega Evolutions to Pokemon that were considered statistically bad, hence really weak Pokemon like Beedrill or Mawile getting Megas, but I still find it odd how the GenVI Pokemon got largely passed over here.
As long as they get Mega Evolutions, I’ll be a happy guy!

i will say, i think perhaps we could have two parts to this story within the base game. one set in the past and one set in the present/near future post X&Y. the idea of diantha’s ancestor using zygarde to stop the urbanization of lumiouse city is great and makes sense as to why she would be the villain. but i don’t know if zygarde there is the issue and i kinda have an issue w portraying zygarde as a villain. they have a point to be angry about the colonization of the land and the disruption of natural order. so, perhaps in part two, we return to modern day kalos after the events of X&Y and the characters then want to redevelop (get it) lumiouse city once more so it can house pokemon and pokemon battles in its five plazas. one thing i haven’t heard ppl talk about much is how in the blue print overhead shot of lumiouse city-the five plazas that were in X&Y look more like biomes/arenas, and it doesn’t rlly make a lot of sense to me for us to develop those in the past but then get rid of them and just make ol plazas in their place in the current time. so in part two we are tasked to explore different biomes in the surrounding outskirts of lumiouse city and report that info back to the professor so that the plaza’s can become new biomes and arenas for pokemon. then zygarde gets angry once again but this time they understand that this new redevelopment is to return some of the natural beauty that is missing from current day lumiouse city. i think this can also be hinted at by the clothes ppl are wearing in the different blueprint/sketches, and how talonflame de-evolves back into fletching. i also think by doing this we can not only expand the lore of the pokemon history like legends arceus did but it can also act as a sequel to X&Y (which it never received).
i see a lot of ppl bringing up mysteries from current X&Y that they want Z-A to explain but its like well if you want this game to be set in the past, how are they gonna answer shit of the future (like in a good way lol). we can learn more about AZ in the current timeline, maybe be gifted his eternal floette (which is still unobtainable). who the ghost girl is and who shes looking for (maybe she’s been looking for AZ this whole time?). how the mythicals of X&Y fit into the lore and timeline of current/future X&Y, and did lysander actually die orrrrr is he in hiding??? also what’s up w the rest of team flare???
this also would be a great workaround new mega evolutions. ig new megas can just be said to have gone “extinct” if this game is set in the past and if we get new megas, but i just don’t like that excuse cuz like how is that a thing??? regional forms make sense bc those pokemon could’ve just felt an adaptation to the region unnecessary, but like regular evolutions i’m like umm how are those extinct they can still evolve??
idk im just thinking here lol but it would just be cool if both happened in the base game. this also can fix one of the only issues legends arceus had which was the lack of trainer battles and lack of connection w friends. if part two is done in current time then we can get more trainer battles (maybe invite the previous gym leaders/elite four members/rivals from X&Y to the biomes/arenas in lumiouse city similarly to the blueberry academy?)
one last thing (sorry): i think the announcement trailer also referenced the synchro machine in a way since pikachu was the one traversing the area while their trainer ran behind them so maybe instead of getting ride pokemon in this game (and maybe future games) we can just use the synchro machine (or something similar) to traverse the areas.
If we get the Kalos trio as starters with new Megas, I think they'll also give us the Sinnoh trio, also with megas. Namely, I think the Professor will give us the Kalos starters, with Laventon showing up later on to offer us a choice of Pokémon from Hisui (the Sinnoh Starters). Kind of like what the original games did with the Kanto starters.
That would be a cool tie in to both X&Y and Arceus!
Seeing all the theories and speculation for the Legends Z-A is making really hyped for it (might be a bit biased considering gen 6 is what I grew up with). Honestly a big part of me is hoping for a futuristic setting, it would be kind of cool to see what the (already explored) cities of the Pokémon universe look like several years from when we first journeyed through them! Perhaps Z-A is set 10 - 15, maybe even 20 years in the future and we could see the children of the characters that we played as have their own adventure maybe bringing Kalos into line with the other "more modern" regions?
This is actually a really cool concept, I hope we get to see some of these ideas for real in the game!

Jk. I think this is probably one of the most likely setups for this game's story. Maybe not going exactly as described, but everything makes sense. Only thing I feel like you forget to focus on more is AZ. As the game is called "Legends Z-A" after all. I feel like his lore will play at least a decent part in this story too. Great video tho 👍

If I could add anything, it would be adding more kalos legendaries. They would still be generation 9, but I think it would buff the beauty that the Pokemon Kalos could offer like a dragon type eeveelution, and flapple and Appletun evolution. Plus, Id love to see more Mega evolutions like flygon, kalos starters, empoleon, and even diggersby if not another evolution
i agree with the starters idea, i loved how we had different starters in PLA and liked the common idea of this new trio being snivy, piplup and scorbunny by people, however part of me thinks that in order to keep PLA being unique and stand on it's own z-a shouldnt have mixed starters but instead the normal ones; arceus was praised for its originality and stray from the formula and so keeping a formula to this sub section of the series would diminish that.
I love the gen 6 starters but I’m holding out hope for Kalosian Primarina which would probably receive a mega as well
Legends Z-A is set in the future, because the problem is that setting it in a past setting, is problematic for a number of reasons
1. The theme of the game is gonna be people and pokemon living together in the city
2. This isn't in XY
3. We already know how Lumiose City looks like in present day, which means a redevelopment plan in the past is pointless from a gameplay perspective
4. In S/M we already delved into Lumiose City and Kalos's future in general with the discovery of Zygarde Cubes
5. In a past setting, getting new Mega Evolutions make no sense from a lore wise perspective
6. In a future setting, they can easily just give us new Mega Evolutions saying they are recent discoveries and then give us the explanation they went missing in the past (The explanation they cannot give us anymore in XY, unless we get XY remakes late 2024, like how BDSP retconned the originals in order to put something Legends related in.
The way the trailer was structured as well, gave me more of a future vibe than a past vibe (We saw a girl with a baseball cap after all).

i recon that 90 % of this video will just happen in the game
It sounds cool, but I feel that it is based off of a misunderstanding of what Team Flare was. They were Poke-Nazis! Lysander goes on a tirade on there being too many humans, especially too many "unproductive" ones. He is a descendant of the old King of Kalos and the head of the largest company. He is aristocracy and capitalism personified. He's full M.K.G.A! If he wanted to truly help, he could give up his wealth and power, but he doesn't! He instead goes: "There isn't enough to go around, so we need to wipe out a bunch of humanity. And to make sure that we never return to where we are right now, we need to kill all (except ours) Pokémon. This way we can retvern to a more beautiful and PURE world." For only though people and Pokémon working and living together, can the current world be possible. You can also really see the Nazi influence in the Team's Hugo Boss-inspired uniforms.
The only thing I'd like to add is that apparently Lysandre did try just hiving his wealth, but people started expecting everything to be done for them and got too greedy.
This is all Lysandre's own writing though, so take that as you will
Here's my prediction: I don't think this gamee is going to take place in the past necceassarily. On the surface it makees sense, but when you look at the visual themes of the trailer along with the music and sound effects, all of it screams more "Future" than "Past". Even the Z has a pattern that is digital or futuristic in nature. Personally and realisitically, I think this game is going to take place in the future while referencing the real life past event of Paris' redevelopment. Even the real life event was geared towards "The future", developing and improving Paris for a better tomorrow. This game is more or less theme around the same idea, the only difference is that it is strictly pokemon themed, as we see in the trailer that Lumiose is being redeveloped to accommodate Pokemon even more. The idea though is that this is taking place in a more futuristic setting set way after the events of XY.
Additionally, if you think about it, between PLA, SV, and this game, everything is themed around past, present, and future:
PLA is set in the past
SV is set in tthe present and had a theme of Past vs Future
ZA would be set in the future.
The games are even being released tto correspond with this idea. PLA came out befoe SV, while ZA is comiing out after. The more you think about it, the more sense it makes. So I say ZA takes place in the future after XY but heavily references the real life Paris redevelopment of the past.

It's mostly because there's a major historical event about Paris redevelopment and the fact that the word Legend generally brings Past to the mind
Plus it's easier to make theories as you have the time period and therefore the historucal events around that time that the game could be inspired by

The entire thing about them announcing ZA is that they are completely switching up the standard practice and flipping everything on its head and doing the unexpected. Furthermore, giving something a “legendary” status doesn’t inherently mean of the past; things being done e today in the modern era can be considered legendary. It’s more so to do with whether something has staying power and significance that will stand the test of time, past or present.
And to build off that; the whole premise of Gen 9 is paradoxes, a merger of past and present/future. The idea may be based upon something thst happened in France in the past, but that doesn’t mean that Game Freak, in an attempt to actually be creative, take that concept and apply it to a modern setting. Ergo paradox. Trying something fresh and new and against the grain 🤷🏻♂️
