  • It is easy to invite people to a Google Meet. You can do it in the Google Calendar, from MS Outlook (w/ an add-in), and add them while a Meeting is in progress. Google is rolling out Google Meet for free to Gmail users starting in May 2020. One issue I have run into is I can invite non-Google users to a Google Meet with a G Suite Account with no problem.
    Example: I invite Bill Smith to my Meet. Bill's email is billsmith@defcompany.com. Bill can join the meeting w/o a Google Account. When I invite with my non-Guite account, Bill can't join my meeting. Google needs to fix this if they want to compete with Zoom.
    This video demonstrates how someone with a non-Google business account can join a Google Meet when inviting with a G Suite account. You can invite anyone to a Google Meet. Yahoo account, Hotmail, outlook account, and business accounts.

    Hi, thanks for the video. So, the one who generates the meeting, should have a premium g-suite account ?

  • @NoelBode
    @NoelBode 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    When I try to test this, the join page with the option to write a guest name and ask to join the meeting always redirects after 1 second to the standard Google sign-in page, requiring an account. Why is that happening?

      I went back and checked. Apparently, Google will only allow people with a G Suite to invite non Google account users to a Meet. I think that is crazy and they need to fix that. There are a lot of non G Suite Google account users that want to host meetings.

      @@ChrisMenardTraining thanks - that was driving me nuts. A agree they should change that otherwise it'll decrease usage as not everyone has a google account. Zoom beats it on this one..

    Why is it that external users are asked to log in. It will not go straight to ask to join but will direct to ask for log in

    • @ChrisMenardTraining
      @ChrisMenardTraining  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maria, is the external user being invited to a Google Meet or trying to host the Meet? Also, is the external user using a non Google account?

      Google Meet in part of Google so you will need to sign into your Google account. One exception would be if someone that has a GSuite account invites you to a meeting.

    How to join in Google meet without showing name
    Please reply

    • @ChrisMenardTraining
      @ChrisMenardTraining  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess you could type in a fictitious name. I'm not sure why you would want to join a meeting and not show your name.

      Jennifer, I just started a Meeting with G Suite. Meet can call you in the US or Canada, but you can dial into the UK. drive.google.com/file/d/1S5ac5WqE-p_N3yFlfO81C9bPF0QvhIwl/view?usp=drivesdk

    I tested this and found that the user has to create a Google account to be able join a Google Meet.

    • @ChrisMenardTraining
      @ChrisMenardTraining  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peter, I'll check again. I know I invited non Google account users to a Google Meet. It may be a G Suite feature. I'll get back to you. If that is the case, that isn't good.

      yeah, same problem here. I tried to invite my boss, who has no google account whatsoever and doesn't want one either and it keeps redirecting him violently to the "sign in" page. tried incognito mode and other browsers to no avail... We are in Europe, maybe that's the reason?

    • @PeterWalter80

      @@ChrisMenardTraining You can invite people that do not have Google accounts, but they have to create an account to join.

    • @PeterWalter80
      @PeterWalter80 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisMenardTraining I am completely happy with Google Meet. All of the people that attend my weekly meeting have created Google accounts. The people that I invited using their Google accounts can just join the meeting,the ones that I invited using their non-Google accounts have to login to their Google account, then when they join I have to admit them. That works just fine, way better than Zoom, all user here are authenticated.
