I have the triostar (I think that’s the name. It’s fairly new to my collection), furry feather, and 2 medallions. I also have a maranta but they’re kind of like cousins to the calathea’s 😅
I thank you very much on the detailed explanation on care of this beautiful plant. I got lots of my questions answered. So simple and so much info. Your calathea looks so gorgeous and healthy. I’ve enjoyed watching this video. Thank you again
Thank you for sharing. I have recently just got into Calathea's, and Alocasias. I have 2 Calathea's right now a Pin Strip, and the Rosey . I am going to add to my collection.
hello, I have to say that leaving the water to sit for sometimes doesn't eliminate all the minerals, for exemple chloramine would not leave ... Rain or well water are the best but if you are living in an apartment, you can put one or two drops of aquarium water conditionner (mine is API, but there are a lot of them in Amazon or in retailers shops). I water every time now with that and have zero brown tips on the leaves, I got this advice on TH-cam !Sheffield plant guy) ! Also, I had moved my calathea in another room and they don't like to be moved or too bright light, they prefer medium light.! Also some calatheas are easier than others, rattlesnake and makoyana are easier than black dottie or medallion, it is easier when you get them as baby plants because they can acclimate to your conditions and you can maintain them around the year and for many years ...
I’m obsessed with calathea and I bought this one recently. I love her but the zebrina is my fave. I’m enjoying all of your care videos. Your best tip is cleaning the leaves. Makes such a difference.
Lol I’m always talking about plants at work so I can definitely relate to the things you were saying at the end. But I loved your video. Very informative. I killed a medallion when I first started collecting houseplants. I just bought to babies I found at Lowe’s today that I plan to repot together. With more experience and research I think I have the care down. Wish me luck! 😆 new subscriber 👍🏽
Wow I have never heard that name but I think you are correct for sure on that. Thanks for passing on that Information I struggle with correct plant names for sure. 🤦♀️👍
I have many Calantheas and Maranthas. I’ m brazilian, I live in Brazil and the most of them are from Brazil. So, it’s easy to take care them. I love so much each one. But, I especially like Stromanthe thalia (Maranta tricolor), Orbifolia and Zebrina.
Hello. This video was soooo great. Thank you for all the advice. I love these plants and have killed like 3 yikes....I have had them set to close to the qindow and I have been using tap water....and I am most likely over watering. Thanks 😊 again. I hate to hear that about your fur baby.....we have an older lab and she is having joint issues...not fun. PRETTY DAMN PERFECT is correct ha I just hit the bell button. If you decide to watch any of my videos...you'll see I don't have alot of plants but I do love them.
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Joint pain is not fun in dogs mine has issues with her joints too. It’s so sad to seem them decline in health. Not sure how. I have time with have left with her. Hope you get a new plant and can keep it alive their so beautiful. Enjoy your day!
Hello friend. nice to meet another plants lover. I love the medallion and your collections is so fantastic.. I will try Medallion but don't know where i can buy..
Nice to meet you too. Thanks so much for watching. I was very happy to find mine in the small town I live in. I have heard that sometimes you can find these types of plant at Home Depot but they were never at mine. Good luck, hope you can find one for yourself. They are a beautiful plant.
Pretty plant I have 3 prayer plants 2 are doing good l I got from a store Thur the mail was so wet water ran out of box and down my arm I reported roots looked black I had 7 leaves now 2 it hates me
Thanks for the information on the "Medallion". I am new to the Prayer plant collection - when a friend gave me 2 plants when we moved into our new home. I love the Medallion and also the "Lemon Lime". But I definitely want to get the Rattle Snake plant, too. I also have Freddie and "Red" (the one with the red veins in the leaves). I had some "non-Prayer plants" that were covered with fungal gnats. I use hydrogen peroxide and water mixture on those plants once a month and I also put a layer of sand on the top of the plants.. Is it ok to do this treatment on the Calatheas. I water most of my plants from the bottom. Do you know if that will work on these prayer plants, too? Thank-You so much for the advice.
I just purchased this stunning plant and was worried about how to take care of it, I never had a calathea before and don't like to loose plants. Thank you for giving me confidence that it will survive. Did you repot your plant since you got it? How would you go about repotting it?
Thanks so much for watching. I haven’t reported it yet. I just barely received this plant a few months ago. I have heard it is good to wait until your plants get used to the new environment. So I probably will not repot mine for a while. But when I do I can make a video to show how.
Hello, I enjoyed watching your video I have just bought my first medallion plant and like you love it. I am English so living here in England the weather I'm sure is different from where you are in America. At the moment it's late spring May so my question is during the day I move my medallion from indoors to my conservatory out of the direct sun, does it upset or damage the plant to keep moving it? Kind Regards.
Hi there. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. My medallion is one of my favorites for sure. I know calatheas in general do not like direct hot sunlight but if it’s not too hot there it may be just fine. Good luck with yours. Mine recently lost a leaf and I’m not sure exactly why. Hope it doesn’t lose anymore cause it’s such a beautiful plant. Hope you have a good day.
It is my second calathea Medallion plant. Still going strong. First one died on me. Most likely due to over watering...😧😧 so I am still learning🤪🤪🤪 God wideo btw. Thanks
I’m still learning too that’s for sure. My Calathea Medallion ended up getting infested with Mealy bugs and almost died. It is recovering now but I had to remove most of its leaves. Very sad but I am hopeful it will rebound.
Thank you so much for sharing I love your videos! I am a new subscriber at your channel And I'm enjoying every single video. Would you kindly share which humidifier you use for your calatheas?
I am so sorry but I don’t have a link to the ones I use. I would honestly recommend on not doing anything super expensive. Mine were cheap and I got then at my grocery store.
I got my Calathea Medallion early this year and always had doubts whether I'm watering it correctly or not bc it's my very first plant but I'm so glad you showed how you water it yourself. I also didn't know the dried brown parts on the leaves can be caused by the water type!! Super informative. Thank you so much!!(: btw, since it's almost Summer now, have you fertilized it yet?
Thanks so much! I am happy to hear that my tips were helpful to you. So this plant recently got spider mites alllll over it 🤦♀️ It was horrible but right now I think I have it under control but there was some damage on some of the leafs. I was so upset. But we will see if it survives. And yes, I didn’t fertilize this plant probably about 3 weeks ago. Good luck with joys 💚🌱
@@theplantingbug2045 oh no!! I'm sorry to hear that but very glad you have it under control now. I'm sure you'll do great reviving it especially with so much care and love you show for your plants. Best of luck to you and your calathea! 💚
Today I am talking about about my Calathea Medallion which I am in love with!! Let me know if you own any Calathea’s and if so which ones do you own??

They are super sensitive to fertilizer so use worm castings on top of soil and you don’t have to use the amount called for.

Hi Can you tell us what humidifier you have and where to get it? Thank you.
Hi there! I actually bought it from Smith’s Marketplace which in other cities is called Kroger. It was only $40.
@@theplantingbug2045 What is the name of the humidifier ? I would like to get the one you have. Thanks :)
@@theplantingbug2045 Hi I found the item. Aurora Amini Aircare.
Yae someone else that has plant brain lol

I don't treat my prayer plants any different than my other plants
