He actually learnt the sounds of the words played backwards….. so when it was played in reverse it looks like he was singing the words…. Very clever and a lot of work. The end of the video was filmed in Bourne woods, south of London, it was also used to film parts of Gladiator and The Whitcher. I used to live near there and walk my dog there
Wikipedia-Lead singer Chris Martin wrote "The Scientist" after listening to George Harrison's All Things Must Pass. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Martin revealed that while working on the band's second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head, he knew that the album was missing something. One night, during a stay in Liverpool, Martin found an old piano that was out of tune. He wanted to work on Harrison's song, "Isn't It a Pity", but he could not manage to do so. When the song came to Martin, he asked that the recorder be turned on. He concluded by saying that he came across this chord sequence and noted that the chord was "lovely". Martin recorded the vocals and piano takes in a studio in Liverpool. When asked about the development of the song, during a track-by-track reveal, Martin said: "That's just about girls. It's weird that whatever else is on your mind, whether it's the downfall of global economics or terrible environmental troubles, the thing that always gets you most is when you fancy someone." The liner notes from A Rush of Blood to the Head, on the other hand, state that "The Scientist is Dan", a reference to Dan Keeling, the A&R man who signed the band to Parlophone
The band is absolutely amazing live. I've been to their concert last year in Copenhagen... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The songs, the visuals, the scene show., flying balls, fireworks, light show bracelets....just WOW!!
Had a man work out what it would sound like phonetically played backwards and cold play lead singer learnt it sung it with backwards music so it looked like when reversed he was saying the actual lyrics. Clever stuff.
This is my favorite Coldplay song! No L’s BP music and lyrics are what we make of them! I was so mad the first time I saw the video! Chris Martin is the lead singer and he plays the piano. They are British and they came a few years before The Fray. You should check out “Fix You”, it’s good too! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
I think it's amazing that you don't know Coldplay. They are possibly the biggest band in the world at the moment. They've sold over 100 million albums worldwide and played concerts with crowds of over 80,000 people.😁 Good reaction though.😁 Oh, and did you notice that this video has had 1.2 Billion views? 🤣
COLDPLAY are just sensational. Brilliant the way he goes 'back to the start' - incredible to see!! It must have taken a while having the filming going backwards too! Well done to you all, especially Chris Martin!!
My family went to see them in early 2000’s. My husband and son only went because my daughter and I really wanted to see them. They left as fans. The concert is one of the best I’ve been too. They sound the same live.
Coldplay have been maybe the biggest band on the planet for the last 20 years sold over 100 million albums and have sold out stadium tours around the world. It still amazes me that you have not heard of Coldplay you must have lived in a bubble not to be aware of Coldplay.
Seen this multiple times but this is the first time I noticed after he gets up off the mattress he holds the inside of his elbow, then we see "before" that when hes outside the laundromat looking like hes trying to score something. Might be a stretch but also when he's diving the car he rubs the inside of his other elbow and looks directly at it acknowledging it. The sutbleties.
Further to other comments, I read a fact some years ago when track first came out. It took Chris Martin 3 months to learn to sing lyrics in reverse, so that it would be seamless when video was played!! That's like outhere
Yep Chris Martin is an extremely talented singer and songwriter, up there with Prince in terms of talent. Sold over 100 million albums in past 20 years. Best talent from UK for a generation
Willie Nelson's cover of this is one of the most emotional songs ever recorded. You should give it a listen, either in a reaction or just on your own time. It blows this version out of the water.
Yes Chris Martin writes the lyrics. Coldplay first album Parachute is amazing. Every song is great and meaningful: beautiful lyrics throughout the album
Not a madsive Coldplay fan but this song is so beautiful. But this is the first time I've ever seen the video. You should also check out 9 Crimes Damien Rice - awesome but weird video!
This was the very first song I heard from Coldplay, I remember how different he sounded compared to other groups. Thanks for the memories Black Pegasus.👍❤️
YOU MUST DO "Coldplay - Fix YOU - LIVE from Sao Paolo"..... you will get the band. Then you need to do "Imagine Dragons - Radioactive (Live At The Joint)"
I love how you explain what your hearing, some don’t go that far but, the explanation lets me see it too… YELLOW. YELLOW. YELLOW.. give it a listen I need to hear your explanation on that one Ty..❤❤❤
Coldplay puts me in a different place psychologically, only artist(s) that do the same is Dido. It's an ethereal sound or something. I used to travel a ton for stupid money and business and when I was missing my lady and my boys I'd throw Coldplay, Dido and a couple others on and it would neutralize the anxiety and such.
Coldplay not only writes their own songs, but have written for several other artists as well. Other good songs are Yellow, Viva La Vida, Fix You. He writes, sings, plays the piano and guitar.
Coldplay get so much shade but I think he has a lovely voice and he's a really talented musician. There's a video, possibly for SiriusFM or something, where he asks them if they want him to do their choice of song on the piano or guitar. It's super.
Yeah, I've never understood why they get so much crap from the public...they're excellent musicians/songwriters, Chris has a great voice & he performs really well live too. Got to see them in the early or mid-2000's? Missed them on their recent big arena tour - they didn't come to my country. Would have loved to have seen it!
@@isuckatguitar6252 Think they suffered from a similar thing as James Blunt. Oversaturation of their music at one point plus 'middle class wyte dude' meant they were an easy target. They could be the butt of any joke. It's a real shame as their music was only everywhere because it's so easy to listen to, and I don't think Chris has ever really received the acknowledgement he deserves as an artist because they were so derided.
Well, Coldplay has a huge range of styles in the passage of time, from the beginning to now, and I like a lot of their songs. I personally don't really like the music in the last album, but I still respect them for what they're doing. They've given us plenty of banger songs, so I'm happy that they're there.
We are all scientists in that we always have to take a life experience (whether good or bad) and pick it apart, try to understand it, ask what made it happen the way that it did, and then ask what we have to do to make it happen again/never happen again.
I know they have a lot of haters but they are one of my favorite bands. This is very much my vibe. P.S. - I can name like 25 songs from them that are bangers.
I've probably mentioned it on previous videos... Whenever the topic of 'beautiful music videos' comes up, I have to recommend 'Gravity' by Sara Bareilles. It's got one of the most significant, and yet simple, music video concepts I have ever seen... and it matches the song to an absolute T.
He had to learn to mime the song in reverse for the video, as although the footage is reversed, you can see him miming with the music in the correct order.
This is a beautiful song, that has quite a few beautiful covers as well. Aimee Mann and Willie Nelson both do a cover that is different from this original but still lovely
Chris learnt to sing in backwards to make it look like he was singing normally when reversed. I think this is the US video clip, and there’s a UK version out there (or I’m dreaming this….).
I love all your questions on the music video which Chris performed backwards, or forwards speaking backwards. It is one of those videos you watch for a second or third time to see if you missed anything. Fix You is great, Viva La Vida is epic. Yellow is the first. Coldplay are a very unquie group.
Coldplay is a band, not just one person. I think you have only watched videos that have a Chris Martin in them. "Fix You" is a interesting one to see that then has the whole band for most of the video.
If you haven't heard Fix You, it's a must.
Best Coldplay song by far.
+1 and it is even better in live performance
Fix You and The Scientist are my favorites (and pretty much every Coldplay song).
if BP really hasn't heard Fix You..he will shed a tear... Fix You is such a beautiful song..
search "so you think you can dance fix you" Robert and Alisson danced to Fix you and it was amazing. choreographed by Travis Wall about his Mother.
Chris Martin’s voice is so beautiful and haunting. And yes, he is one of those dudes that sings and plays the piano ❤
Dude he sing in backwords, I was like, how can you not notice that????
Hahah same
Filmed with him singing backwards, then run in reverse so it looked like him singing Normally, while the video was backwards.
Amazing
He actually learnt the sounds of the words played backwards….. so when it was played in reverse it looks like he was singing the words…. Very clever and a lot of work. The end of the video was filmed in Bourne woods, south of London, it was also used to film parts of Gladiator and The Whitcher. I used to live near there and walk my dog there
Chris was married and had children to Gwenth Paltrow.. great band, great music and great live.. Yellow..is my favourite ❤❤❤
Yellow is mine 2 x

You should react to “Isn’t It A Pity”
Gorgeous voice. He seems to b a genuine nice human too. I love his voice.
The band is absolutely amazing live. I've been to their concert last year in Copenhagen... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The songs, the visuals, the scene show., flying balls, fireworks, light show bracelets....just WOW!!

I remember being amazed at this video when it came out. The amount of work that went into it is mind boggling.
Most successful band on the planet literally, and chris also happens to be the most humble and likeable dude
Clocks is a great song by Coldplay. My favorite! ❤
One of the best bands ever 🇬🇧
This is the song my wife and i danced to at our wedding back in 2005. Still married.
I think it's amazing that you don't know Coldplay. They are possibly the biggest band in the world at the moment. You should check out Coldplay - Fix You Live in Sao Paolo
this is a whole band and they all are good musicians.
You can tell when a musician has a classical training, and add a high intelligent creativity… genius art.
He does play the piano and write and sing, yes indeed. Coldplay are amazing.
This one caught me the first time .. made me cry. Such a great song and the video is top tier. Loved your reaction
COLDPLAY are just sensational. Brilliant the way he goes 'back to the start' - incredible to see!! It must have taken a while having the filming going backwards too! Well done to you all, especially Chris Martin!!

This band's catalog is a serious rabbit hole. Too many greats to choose.
Absolutely love Coldplay!! You can’t go wrong with anything from them ❤
Proposal he wants to be the scientist so they can create a time machine in prevent this horrible tragedy that happened from such a menial argument
You need to watch a song by Coldplay Live - Their shows are epic. Chris Martin is a TALENTED man.
Love this song and the band too, never understood the hate they get from some
Love this song, my favourite one of theirs, great reaction
Coldpay is best live, thats where the magic is
Walking backwards, singing forwards, bet that's not easy. And yes to a 'fix you' live reaction.
This is one of my favorite songs, and is from the only Coldplay album I like.
Yes… this Album was phenomenal. Nothing else they have done is on a par with this.
Love this song ❤
This is my favorite Coldplay song. This is one of my favorite songs. This song is so amazing.
Biggest and the best band ever
Great band live. Lovely voices and playing. Better to find them now rather than never. ✌️
I get in the car and immediately put my seatbelt on!
Coldplay have been maybe the biggest band on the planet for the last 20 years sold over 100 million albums and have sold out stadium tours around the world. It still amazes me that you have not heard of Coldplay you must have lived in a bubble not to be aware of Coldplay.
This is my favourite ColdPlay song. But there are sooooooo many amazing ones.
When they were live in river plate ….. maaaaan !!!! You have to see that ! A sky full of stars ⭐️ !
He sings, he writes, he plays instruments, yup IT ALL ❤
their older music is legendary
Agreed older stuff wasn't bad
Seriously BP? You have 2 babies and you don't always wear your seat belt? Come on, man!!
Further to other comments, I read a fact some years ago when track first came out. It took Chris Martin 3 months to learn to sing lyrics in reverse, so that it would be seamless when video was played!! That's like outhere
I'm so glad you have don the Scientist. It's brilliant. Fix You is a must too.

I agree. Maybe it's the aged time worn beauty, still raw in his voice. Perfection.
Yes Chris Martin writes the lyrics. Coldplay first album Parachute is amazing. Every song is great and meaningful: beautiful lyrics throughout the album

Definitely must see their song Fix You .
This was the very first song I heard from Coldplay, I remember how different he sounded compared to other groups.
Thanks for the memories Black

High Speed and Sparks are among my favourite Coldplay songs.

Paradise - Coldplay
I love how you explain what your hearing, some don’t go that far but, the explanation lets me see it too… YELLOW. YELLOW. YELLOW.. give it a listen I need to hear your explanation on that one Ty..❤❤❤
I think he already did Yellow
Coldplay puts me in a different place psychologically, only artist(s) that do the same is Dido. It's an ethereal sound or something. I used to travel a ton for stupid money and business and when I was missing my lady and my boys I'd throw Coldplay, Dido and a couple others on and it would neutralize the anxiety and such.
Coldplay not only writes their own songs, but have written for several other artists as well.
Other good songs are Yellow,
Viva La Vida, Fix You. He writes, sings, plays the piano and guitar.
My favorite Coldplay song is Clocks. I really like several of their songs, including this one you are reacting to, but that's my favorite.
Coldplay is a worldwide appreciated band. Just google and you’ll be amazed. Great music and very recognizable, you can immediately hear its Coldplay
Coldplay get so much shade but I think he has a lovely voice and he's a really talented musician. There's a video, possibly for SiriusFM or something, where he asks them if they want him to do their choice of song on the piano or guitar. It's super.

Fix you is my favourite song from Cold Play, but they have so many great songs tbf. Martin has a very unique voice.
Fix you live Sao Paulo is stunning.
Coldplay are amazing the video is moving try Keane bed shaped my young son cried when he saw it xxx
Love this song. 🎵
Please listen to Snow Patrol “chasing cars”
Willie Nelson covers this and it's even better. You should check it out as a comparison. Imagine Willie's voice singing this.
You have to react to all of Coldplay songs live versions. So much better than all studio versions
He absolutely writes and is one of the better piano players of his time and the fray wish lol
The production values on this piece were pretty high. It's sad - so sad... Keep Reacting!
I know they have a lot of haters but they are one of my favorite bands. This is very much my vibe.

And yet another GREAT band from that little place called GREAT BRITAIN
Please watch, 'Fix You' live from Sao Paulo..it will blow your mind.
Clocks...its all good
This is a beautiful song, that has quite a few beautiful covers as well. Aimee Mann and Willie Nelson both do a cover that is different from this original but still lovely
Willie Nelson sang this, I'm like where have I heard this!? Willie! Don't know who's song but he definitely sang it
Had so much fun with Chris when he was recording at Parr Street Studios.
Always wear your seatbelt, you need to be around for your family!!❤
Song always reminds me of the movie Wicker Park
The hill side the BMW rolls down in the forest is the same as the war site in the beginning of Gladiator, Farnham Surrey UK 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Chris learnt to sing in backwards to make it look like he was singing normally when reversed. I think this is the US video clip, and there’s a UK version out there (or I’m dreaming this….).

Fix You is great, Viva La Vida is epic. Yellow is the first. Coldplay are a very unquie group.
BP. Your reaction at the end was like mine when I first saw this video. I must have been 14 at the time. Best advert for seatbelts I’ve seen.
The video kills me so sad 😢 but love the song
Fix you
Clocks
Viva la vida
Coldplay is a great band!
He learned how to sing the entire song backwards for this music video. That's commitment to your art.
This song was played at the beginning of one of the "50 Shades" movies. I can't remember which one.
He had to learn the song & timing backwards so it could be filmed to make this 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yellow is a really good one!
Willie Nelson does an excellent cover of this song
Coldplay is a band, not just one person. I think you have only watched videos that have a Chris Martin in them. "Fix You" is a interesting one to see that then has the whole band for most of the video.
