Thank you Dr Rea for another very informative video! I don't know how you do it - taking the time from your very busy schedule as a vet no doubt, - to give us this valuable information every week but it is greatly appreciated! I am learning something new every week!
Happy Purrsday! Two grain free, wet cat foods. Obviously this is my favorite video. The cost of the small cans of Weruva is about the same as Hill's. The 6 oz. cans are about half price, 32 cents an ounce. Hill's really needs to offer larger sizes than 2.9 oz. for most of their food. Colbie and Panda love Weruva. They will sometimes eat it and leave the chicken. Go figure. Did I mention this is a great video!
I could never get the company to commit to a calcium level for the steak frites, I could only get that they “strive for a 1:1.2 ca/phos ratio, but they could not supply the ca on a dry matter basis. Maybe we can give them a half point.
Excellent review as always. I was wondering if that formula had a feeding trial. Oh well! Lol! I did a presentation at a vet tech school this morning, my first since retiring! Weird being an independent speaker. Had a blast! we’re a seems to be a quality product. Nice to see a good one for a change!
If a manufacturer can't give me a definitive number for their Calcium how do I know their numbers on other nutrients are correct. Measuring Ca is not rocket science.
@AnimalDocRea Happy Thursday…. Another outstanding, Video, Would u please review Dr. Gary’s Best Breed Dog food. Veterinarians in clinics are carrying them here in the state of Ohio. Thank you💯
Kittens do not have a requirement for carbohydrate therefore there is no correct amount established. The only lifestage that had a true requirement is lactating queens Wich is 10% on a dry matter basis minimum
Thanks! This is exactly what I needed to know! I've been looking for fresh food but I've seen your videos (and the conversion one recently) and they are all problematic. Thank you so much for this information. Maybe you could do a video lining the fresh food up and ranking your choice, them pulling in Hills for comparison. I've lost cats to kidney disease and urinary blockage and I just know it's because of the bad food over their lives. This could help everyone. Thank you again!
Thank you! I’ve never had someone super thanks me. I really appreciate that. Yes I think a comparison ok fresh to a standard kibble could be a good learning experience.
@AnimalDocRea hi! I've gone with the hills science diet wet catfood adult healthy cuisine roasted chicken and rice for healthy weight. Not because my 6 month Olds are fat, but because the nutrients added up as you've shown. I'm thinking the nearly 3 can daily feeding guide is a bit much so I'm thinking of doing a dry during the day and a wet foe dinner, but then the math gets nuts! I may go with the sure pet feeder that knows who is who (had it years ago with my previous (now deceased) cats and it was good. Hope to keep them from free feeding on eachothers portions. Anyway, too much info. A guide with wet/dry mix (good combos) maybe some product reviews like the feeder. I don't know how invested you are in youtube, but there's much potential for your style. So many are touchy feelings and "by the numbers" professional will take things by storm, imo. And I've watched maybe a thousand of these pet owner videos. (You're the first I've ever given money to, btw). Best to you.
I’m not sure how invested in TH-cam I am either honestly, I’m just trying to help people out, give a vets perspective because the “good fight” seems one sided. I always feel like I’m helping, but sometimes the negativity seems more than what I’m willing to endure.
As alway great video. My cat Alice 6 yrs 4 month all her bloodwork came back negative. Shes a big girl 17 lbs. I learn about her nutrition through you and my vet. I feed her a 3 oz can of Blue Buffalo Tastefuls and Hills dry (1 cup).
I have learned so much from you! My cats are super picky and will only eat Fancy Feast canned food. I found the dry matter basis online for this brand and the protein and phosphorous are very high. Although I agree canned is better, the only kibble my one cat will eat is Science Diet Oral Care so I think I will stick to my vet's advice and feed as much of this and as little of the canned as possible to both of them. Thank you again, you are so helpful!! I always wanted to be a small animal vet--unfortunately, I just did not have the grades in high school to even consider that option. I use my love of animals now as a hobby to research animal healthcare topics. =)

I exchanged several emails with Weruva. Same response
@edschulhof6303 very odd, maybe they just don’t share with the customer service
Thank you Dr Rea since watching your tutorials I have learnt a lot and I can help my dog live a fulfilling life

@@AnimalDocRea wow thank you….You’re are truly the best doing gods work.
What is the correct carbohydrate amount to look for in dry kitten food?

That is awesome!
what would you feed your cat ? (brands)
Of these I’d go with the SD because it ranked a smidge better but they honestly seem both like good options.
What is SD ?
I love watching your videos and try not to miss one! Thx
@@najmahal-ghamdi8882 SD is Hill's Science Diet.
Thank you!
