Shortcut: Radius of a Circle inscribed in a Right Triangle

For people who are interested in math, it's more important to know why:
Area = (a + b + c) r/2 = ab/2
so r = ab/(a + b + c)
2ab = (a+b)^2 - (a^2 + b^2) = (a+b)^2 - c^2 = (a+b+c)(a+b-c)
therefore r = (a+b-c)/2

How do we know

@@nandisaand5287 That's true for any triangle with inscribed circle. Just connect each vertex with the center of the circle and the area of each small triangle is Lr/2 where L is the side length of that one.
