Good stuff. I had to giggle at the $30 and I know that’s just an example. When I first left corporate to go full time entrepreneur I thought I was doing great at $50/hr. Now you’re lucky to get me at $250/hour 12 years later.
Note to those just starting out, always raise your prices as you complete projects. You are worth more than you know!!

    This is an important video.
My last client is an upcoming clothing brand who wanted to know how they should brand themselves before even getting their first designer t-shirt out. Once we were done with the brand strategy, I offered everything we settled on in a rule guide that became the bible and everything they do is based on that guide. Priceless.

Tom, I have had to giggle in the past when certain people have offered "Branding" for $15. The whole set and match. I did enquire if that was per head of cattle and was there discount for a herd. I think they were confused by the question.
Branding is a serious business and that is why people pay big money for it, it also sorts the wheat from the chaff.

The average graphic design student will never hear what you said in just 8-minutes. HOWEVER, your presentation doesn't factor in the Dunning-Kruger in which people wrongly overestimate their knowledge or ability in a specific area. In this instance, over-charging for a bad image package (VERY common) that just can't be fixed with a couple teaks and modifications here and there. I dread hiring graphic designers because the ones that I encounter just lack sophistication and I end up saying, "...then why don't we try this instead." and for every instance of saying that is another step away from the optimal design.--Meanwhile, the graphic designer will shamelessly insist on being paid for effectively doing nothing.

Your hourly rate is a nice guide.
But pricing is 100% completely subjective in the moment.
Its based on the clients budget, your schedule, and the ongoign relationship you have with the client.
