So let's think about this.... do you think everyone in life is tested for possible matches or people that may be willing to give someone a kidney?
What is the purpose of being tested? Egregious is a stretch.
The donor is ALWAYS supposed to be told first… to avoid this very thing. The donor is supposed to still have time to process. If they decide to bow out, the recipient would be told it isn’t a match. How sad this person didn’t have this opportunity

Kind of sounds like if she had known what the whole process entailed she wouldn’t have so eagerly agreed. Perhaps you still would’ve gone along with the surgery anyways but I think people think that it’s a lot easier than it is and they don’t realize that that can have a lot of potential health consequences for the donor. .

This was sharing with the patient she was going to donate for, they sign a lot of documents, the recipient gets to also get to know when there is a match and given that she knew she was being tested, she probably had a clue to the donor

The nephrectomy to remove the donor kidney can be just as traumatic as the transplant itself. I am a kidney transplant recipient but I waited on the list 3 years because I would not let my husband or anyone I knew go through the surgery, traumatic recovery and potential risks. I did peritoneal dialysis while waiting and yes, I felt tired 24/7, but I made it. I am eternally grateful to my donor, although I never had the chance to meet him. His decision to donate after death saved many lives and allowed me to have quality on my own again.

I waited 6 years on hemo and also decided to go with a deceased donor. This is why.
I also had a double nephrectomy to remove both kidneys before putting the new one in. It was a six hour surgery. So I experienced both sides. Each of my kidneys was about 7 1/2 pounds.

I have a great respect for this girl. She seems so selfless and kind. Souls like her are rare.

Unless you have never given a part of your body to someone, I don’t think it’s your place to say how she or any donor should feel before, during or after the donation as you don’t know the mental, emotional and physical affects that come with giving away a part of your body. This interview if anything would encourage other people to be more educated and aware of the consequences of giving away your organs if anything rather then making the donee feel guilty.

Finally, people are talking about this. I've been knowing for years that Selena is shady AF for dismissing Francia as "this girl I know" while Francia thought of her as a BFF. Selena was still drinking then and probably still is drinking now, and she didn't want to acknowledge the harm she caused in her friendship with Francia because of this. All Francia wanted was to see her friend get better. But Selena just used her. 😢

She later said on social media that someone else was her best friend and all the love but she never mentioned the person who donated the kidney. Basically, ghosted her afterwards.
@@sossoft the drs should let the person know they are a match and they decide yes or no to donating before the recipient finds out. That way if this girl decided she didn’t want to donate, Selena wouldn’t have known if she matched or not. This put so much pressure on this poor girl to donate.

when you volunteer to be eligible to donate you go through extensive counseling prior so she would have been made aware of the process, theres health screening blood tests and pyschological counseling before you are even considered to be eligible. after going through all that she surely should have been made aware. @@Maddy_B
She’s not once said she regrets it in this video. It’s a big thing, it’s normal to have panic feelings before, through & after the process. She felt all the emotions & still does. That’s not saying “I wish I hadn’t done it” she’s saying she “I wish I had more information/advice before hand”

After a kidney transplant you don’t have to quit drinking completely. They give you an allowed amount. I had a transplant and they told me it’s fine to drink. As long as you followed their guidelines. Alcohol is not prohibited completely. Educate yourself.

I donated and went through the process and remember asking "will they know I backed out?". They said no. We tell them it wasn't a match. The person I ended up donating to found out the day before(for prep reasons) but I had up until I was put under to back out. I'll never regret my decision. I was a match for 3months before they even knew about me.

I feel like this is where hospitals and doctors should make the person donating go through serious counselling and discuss all scenarios, including the scenario that you loose touch with the recipient.
They did that when I got tested. It’s called the psychosocial evaluation and it’s harder than the physical testing in my opinion!

They should have told her first we have a family friend that did this it's a big surgery and the Recovery is hard to she needs to treat this girl like gold and take care of her for the Rest of her life
Instead Selena ignored her afterwards, she basically used her. This situation made me look at Selena Gomez differently. She is selfish for treating this girl so poorly after what she did for her.
And then after she donated one of her kidneys... Selena forgets all about her. This time I lost respect to Selena.

@@SeraKook Great...and this lady saved Selena's life. She voluntarily did this, as an adult, and could have said "no" either before the test or after the test...no matter w-h-o was told 1st. Either way, if she had said "no" to the test or "no" to the surgery after being a match...she'd have to explain why she said "no" to Selena and maybe risk losing her as a friend. This lady made a choice when she took the test...why take the test if you're not interested in doing the transplant, no matter the results? She just panicked when it was a "go"...it's a major surgery and of course, one would be very nervous at times. But she said "yes" and could have said "no", no matter w-ha-t happened, at any time. We all have regrets, if this is one of hers. You live and you learn...it's part of life. No matter what, she can be assured she is a wonderful person to save someone's life like that.

Or just think about it for enough time and not take such an important decision under pressure. Also, saying no, if that’s the answer she decided on. Nobody is forced to give their organs away and surely nobody should feel pressured to do it in the name of “friendship”, i think most people wouldn’t do it for a friend, just for close family members. The way Selena called her and said “yeeeey, we’re a match!” Is pure manipulation to me.

The Dr. telling Selena first was a blackmail on thier friendship. She was the first person to know and decide whether she's in or not. That call "cornered" her as a selfless and emotional friend. She looks hurt...
The doctors normally tell the recipient about the availability of a donor before telling the actual donor

How do we know Selena didn't pay for the Doctor, and maybe that's why she found out first.That's the only thing I can think of of why she would find out first, but I'm not sure how that works. If someone else is paying or if it's their doctor that they used to find out if she was a match or not.
