He also sings it along with Confessa in the Singer 2017, a little differently than this version. I like both. The Singer 2017 is where he exploded in popularity. This was in China, where he was the first non Chinese invited to participate in a competition with Chinese established performers....supposedly for one or two performances as a wild card guest. He was only 22. He opened the season with the first performance of SOS sung in French, before the others, & he shocked everyone. The next day he found his hotel surrounded by security.....his performance brought 650 million views overnight! Second performance was an impish Dimash singing Opera2 where his dad was secretly in the audience, & afterwards the reunion was really lovely to see. Dimash was in a totally new country, without knowing any of the language, one interpreter, & he got homesick. So they got in touch with his dad who came to support him. Some songs on that program have back stories which are needed to help us understand the meanings more fully.....Autumn Strong, & Daybreak, to name a couple.

I love his voice, his skills on stage, his feelings for sounds and rhythm. But what impresses me the most is that he never puts himself above others and understands spirituality. He's out of the zeitgeist and that's - for me - what's special. When a journalist asks him a question, he actually thinks and answers the question seriously. Haha, I know what you mean but that’s stylistically Peking Opera with regard to dan/nan performances. I love this performance - as with most things tastes are subjective. Captions will help you understand some his vocal choices when singing in foreign languages. Sometimes it makes it easier for his earlier english videos because his accent was quite heavy at times. His english is very good now. Dimash does not sing high and low to show off ( he can be playful at times😏) but chooses the vocal textures and octaves that best get his message across. You’ll find different performances for the same song are also very impressive and something different, even if you’ve heard the song before, he’s that good! For example his latest TH-cam release on a Chinese TV show recently is a Kazakh folk song which we’ve all heard him perform lots of times before, this time he started off with the folk and went into Jazz style (incredible Jazz runs!), so he even surprises those of us who have seen everything he’s ever performed! I was Dimashed about 3 years ago and I've yet to hear him repeat a single song exactly the same way twice. And each time is utterly breathtaking. I absolutely agree with these choices and order of listening. Great start to the Dimash rabbit hole we all become a part of.

He is like the whole choir and band ensemble in on tall body. His wide range is show-cased in his songs: Stranger, Olympico and the Story of One Sky. But I think you will enjoy: Hello, All By Myself (Singer 2017), his composition of Unforgettable Day (Singer 2017 w/Eng subs) and Screaming mv. He also plays like 9 instruments and sings in up to 16 languages but speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently and more English and some Chinese. This is well stated! I also want to say thank you for jumping into his music. He is an independent artist working overtime to make his stand here in the US. That's a difficult endeavor as you no doubt are aware. So, it's always wonderful to see good people such as yourselves discovering him and helping others to do the same. Dimash has an extremely wide vocal range, which is quite impressive; but that’s not what defines him. He sounds exquisite at any range, which is incredible in and of itself.
Besides, his voice has so many colors and tone to it, not mentioning his vocal dynamics. His voice is soaring only to express his intense emotions, whether it’s a cry for help (SOS), a yearning (Samaltau), or to express pain or loss (The Story of One Sky). Dimash, being a composer himself (“Unforgettable Day”- Ұмытылмас күн, The Story of One Sky, El Amor en Ti…), knows how the song he interprets must be delivered. Indeed, what I love about Dimash is that he does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story.
In short, he’s not only a masterful vocalist - It’s precisely thanks to his mastery that Dimash is able to freely dive, and tap, into his emotions; but he’s also a great storyteller. What I love about him as well is the way he immerses himself in the songs he sings.
Also, please know that Dimash is indeed classically trained - he even declined a position as an opera singer when he was only 22, and has absolute pitch (a rare cognitive trait by the way) which was discovered when he was only 5 years old.

He also sings it along with Confessa in the Singer 2017, a little differently than this version. I like both.
The Singer 2017 is where he exploded in popularity. This was in China, where he was the first non Chinese invited to participate in a competition with Chinese established performers....supposedly for one or two performances as a wild card guest. He was only 22.
He opened the season with the first performance of SOS sung in French, before the others, & he shocked everyone. The next day he found his hotel surrounded by security.....his performance brought 650 million views overnight!
Second performance was an impish Dimash singing Opera2 where his dad was secretly in the audience, & afterwards the reunion was really lovely to see. Dimash was in a totally new country, without knowing any of the language, one interpreter, & he got homesick. So they got in touch with his dad who came to support him.
Some songs on that program have back stories which are needed to help us understand the meanings more fully.....Autumn Strong, & Daybreak, to name a couple.

Thanks for the great reaction! All of Dimash’s performances of this song are amazing! He sometimes does a D7 whistle note instead of the 13 note run down, that’s also crazy. You’ll find different performances for the same song are also very impressive and something different, even if you’ve heard the song before, he’s that good! For example his latest TH-cam release on a Chinese TV show recently is a Kazakh folk song which we’ve all heard him perform lots of times before, this time he started off with the folk and went into Jazz style (incredible Jazz runs!), so he even surprises those of us who have seen everything he’s ever performed! Then Stranger, Olympico, Across Endless Dimensions, Ikanaide, Love Is Like a Dream, his cover of Queen's; Show Must Go On...just to name a few. He is the best singer in the world! Training since he was 5, sings in 7 octaves, sings in 12 different languages, writes, produces, sings & performs with great emotion, is a super humble guy & a huge humanitarian. And yes, he is tall 😅

Dimash is amazing, everything he sings is extraordinary. Even if it is a simple song he makes it grandiose ❤❤❤, he changed my expectations on singers now, the bar is so high for new singers, I love to watch singing competitions such as the voice, but it is hard not to compared them with Dimash. He is like the whole choir and band ensemble in on tall body. His wide range is show-cased in his songs: Stranger, Olympico and the Story of One Sky. But I think you will enjoy: Hello, All By Myself (Singer 2017), his composition of Unforgettable Day (Singer 2017 w/Eng subs) and Screaming mv. He also plays like 9 instruments and sings in up to 16 languages but speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently and more English and some Chinese. Another artist that you might want to check out is Hua Chenyu who is a wizard at covering songs but also creates his own: Great Sage Equal to Heaven, Jackdaw Boy, Nunchucks, Bullfighting and I Don’t Care. Then Back and White and My Skateboard Shoes. He s more the New age rapper but he combines genres like Dimash.
