    In-N-Out usually has the worst fries of any burger food chain

      They're definitely fresh, but texture isn't as good. We've been ordering them done "well" and like them better.

    Thanks for the heads up on habit. I live in Washington State and they recently opened one up in Silverdale Washington I am planning on going to this evening.
    I have to say the 5guys here has steadily gone down hill. They need to toast their buns longer. By the time you get home the bottom bun is inedible. It’s just a soaked sponge that falls apart if you look at it wrong lol. The burger itself is good at 5 guys but their version of grilled peppers or onions is pretty lame. They go to quick with it as they don’t let enough the water to evaporate to get the grill marks on the veggies so it’s almost like steamed vegetables. But they need to stop wrapping to go orders in foil maybe this would spare the bottom bun from becoming a soaked disappointment. The fries can be good but if you have a ninja food air fryer I highly recommend air frying them when you get home for about 2-3 minutes and they get their crisp back plus they are nice and hot. But always ask for them to make you fries with no salt. It’s always better to salt them yourself if you don’t like heavily salted fries which our 5guys seems to think people love. I am afraid to eat their salted fries for the fear of going blind due to salt poisoning 😂. They will accommodate your request. The price at 5guys is insane and paying that kind of money should give you flawless hamburgers, flawless perfectly cook French fries. So my recommendation if you do go to 5guys I think it taste better eating in the restaurant opposed to taking it home. Especially if you spend that kind of money you want to enjoy it at its best version.
    I’ll add on my review of Habit after tonight. Let you guys know how my first experience went.

      That was very much our experience with Five Guys. Maybe we'll give them another try and eat at the restaurant, but it is right across the street from Habit and we just keep going back there! We curious to hear what you thought of Habit.

    When Five Guys first opened we would go quite often & loved it! But as the months & years passed the prices just kept jumping up & up until it got silly what we were paying for a cheeseburger with fries. Then I came upon some videos on how to make what's called a "Smash Burger". You guys have got to try them out! They are amazing & cheap to make! Be well.

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it based on burgers from the Smash Burger restaurant? We used to have one in our area, but it went out of business.

      @@FinnLovesFood I had no idea there was a chain by that name. I live in New England & we're generally the last to see some national chains, many of which never come here. But if you do a smash burger search on TH-cam there are many videos on the technique. Best burger EVER! Life changing, I'm serious, lol.

    The times I was in California I never thought in and out was really all that great. It was ok but maybe it’s because I want the French fries to compliment the burger. And the fries I remember being below par.

    • @FinnLovesFood
      @FinnLovesFood  ปีที่แล้ว

      Their french fries are not the best even though they're fresh. We've found we prefer ordering them well done. We do enjoy the burgers and they have a good price point.

      Yes, Smashburger is great too. I haven't had one for a while and unfortunately, we lost the one near us, I think due to the pandemic. Smashburger, Five Guys and the others are definitely in a different category from Burger King and McD's!

      @@FinnLovesFood Maybe just Vegas.Had a buddy go to the In N Out over there and said somehow it wasn't as good as Cali. Have you had Hook Burger? It is actually the same company as the Habit but more upscale sit down place.

    I live in SoCal, and my favorite are the mom and pop charbroiled burger joints like Jim’s, golden ox, those kind of spots, but I would rate the habit above in n out and five guys as well. In n out is good, but the meat is lacking that char taste, and it could use a little more flavor like the habit patty, five guys is just too expensive, I rather just go to a gourmet burger spot like grill em all in Alhambra.

    • @FinnLovesFood

      Definitely some great small burger joints out there! We had one called The Dive near us, but unfortunately it didn't survive the pandemic.

    For me
    The Habit (perfect bar burger/fries)
    Then
    In-N-out (most unique taste wise burger so distinctive)
    Then
    Five guys (is like burger King in the 80s it used to be fresh or that what my father says and I start to believe it too)

    I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Habit & can’t wait to try them with their jalapeño bar. We are getting one & a In-N-Out Burger opening soon. 5 Guys fries are good but they don’t have a drive-thru. We got a Culver’s & t rather have McDonald’s. The best burgers are always from a none franchise that are locally owned but most of the time we go to the place that is closest to us. McDonald’s is the closest but I go to Arbey’s the most & Burger King.

    Habit > Five Guys > In-N-Out as far as taste is concerned, but Five Guys is obscenely expensive in L.A. County so I've stopped going there altogether. $20 for their "little" burger, a "little" fry, and a drink is kind of ridiculous, especially since The Habit's Portabella Charburger is as good or better for 1/2 the price.

    • @FinnLovesFood
