  • A road trip to ST. ANN'S and LADY CHANCELLOR HILL which is north of the Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain Trinidad and Tobago. This drive is sentimental in nature and picks up places that people who were once associated with the area may find interesting. On JB's Man Cave I do not necessarily create tourist videos... instead, I share raw footage so you can feel as though you are right there with me in my truck driving around.
    Here is a simple key:
0:00:00 - Saddle Rd. heading to entrance of Lady Chancellor Hill
0:00:56 - Brian Lara Drive (famous Cricketer)
    0:02:42 - Lady Chancellor Rd.

    0:07:40 - Main entrance to St. Ann's
0:08:33 - Back at Lady Chancellor Rd.
0:10:47 - Nice lookout over Port of Spain

0:24:55 - Where people park to begin hiking
    0:27:56 - Descending into St. Ann's
    0:32:57 - St. Ann's Gardens

That nature trail up there after the lookout is amazing, there is a spring up there. If you continue further along the trail pass the bridge, there are two other springs. The trail leads all the way through the forest back into cascade in a gated community. My cousin and I hiked all the way there boxing day 2022, it was quite an adventure.

Thank u so much for this video. I attended St Ann’s Rc. I remember the drug store at the entrance. I use to buy my candies from there. So much memories. We are in 2022. And that area looks so rundown. Usually after many yrs has passed. You would see modernization. St Ann’s and Cascade. Used to be upscale neighborhoods. Take a culture in Trinidad. Where people leave their houses to deteriorate while living in them. A simple paint job. Some cement to repair missing concrete. Cutting overgrown grasses and replacing it with flowering plants. I cringe when I watch your videos. Lack of pride. People need a mindset change! The roads are in a mess! Morse growing on walls.

St. Ann's used to be a close nit community back in the 60s and 70s, there are like 3+ generations of families who still live there, my family is married to one such. Another thing, if you take St. Ann's Road where the church and school is located (one of my first schools when my family moved to Cascade), it will take you to another entrance of the Botanical gardens, it used to be a very quiet and private over there. I know the ombudsman's office used to be right inside the entrance of the gardens and lower down, there was a butter-fruit tree, as kids, we used to raid that tree until the watchman ran us. My wife and myself used to jog in the gardens and run up into the mountains coming out on Chancellor Road like 4 times a week about 43 years ago, it was one if the highlights of our relationship, we haven't seen inside the gardens in about 38 years. Maybe next time we visit Trinidad (if it is safe enough) I just might take her for another trip through the gardens for old time sake. :) Such a paradise.

I remember stopping there in the hot road while my Dad went in. Thanks so much, as I have never been up in those high areas of Ste Anne! BEAUTIFUL, and your commentary is wonderful. I am going to forward it to my older brother John Hill, having brain surgery in Townsville, Queensland, Aust. He went to St. Mary’s High School Frederick St. Opposite the medical offices building, where there was a pharmacy and a record shop, and quite a few doctors. @@JBsManCave I've probably contributed to 100 views on that video lol Westmoorings/Shorelands is my top choice tied with Moka & Beaumont Ridge. I considered St. Anns for its closeness to QPS but I never went pass the HILO there. It looks much different than what I imagined, in a bad way.
The funny thing is I've always hated Westmoorings because all the houses are so close together and the lots are really small but I'm getting the house for my elderly mother so the small lot size is now a positive as well as the easy access to West Mall, Westshore Medical, etc.
Beaumont Ridge is a great purchase for anyone who wants a large lot and to be somewhat close to POS but the lots are sloping and you will definitely have to build rather than purchase something move-in-ready.
The property I'm trying to upgrade from is in Moka and I love the nature and large lot sizes you get in Moka but it's far from ammenities, the roads arent being upkept like they used to be and I'm not a fan of the some of the neighborhoods you have to drive through to get to POS. My mother is the only one living in T&T at the moment so her safety is #1.
That is something I've never liked about Trinidad. You can have a gated community next to a run down community or you'll have to drive through an unsafe neighborhood to get to where you want to go (something I'm happy you mentioned in the Bayshore video).
Thanks for replying and I'll be happily commenting on some more of your videos during my house hunt.

One area you can consider, which I cannot feature, is Goodwood Park. They made it a gated community. It is very expensive and set on a mountainside overlooking West Moorings. However, these are individual houses with an amazing view close to everything.
