Ford Ranger Electric: Rims and Tires

I picked up so new tires to go on the stock Ford Ranger Electric's 15" rims. These Hankook Kinergy tires were the only low rolling resistance tires in the stock tire size, and they should enable me to maximize the Ranger Electric's range while maintaining odometer and speedometer accuracy.

Wow big weight savings, that should really help you out in the end. Good luck with the brakes you should be set to go for a long time if regen works well on the ranger electric with new brakes. Excited to see the old EV back again!

Yeah, that's the hope. The brakes are a royal pain, and I think they rusted out due to lack of use. I'll post a quick video on that soon as well.

I would wager that the new modern technology Hankook low rolling resistance tires will be MUCH more efficient than a late 1990's early 2000's low rolling resistance tire. Thanks for the update :)

Thanks! Yes, I'm hoping for the same, though I'm not sure. On the stock tires, the Ranger was getting over 4 mi/kWh at 45 mph, so improving on that would be impressive.

Nice to see the progress! These started as electric but do you think we'll ever have "kits" that will come out for certain classic cars to electrify them? Assuming enough are around. I'm thinking a '70 GTO, early Camaro's, etc.

Thanks! Yes, GM is already releasing kits for older cars. Apparently, they are direct bolt on and completely reversible.
