    I was a false convert in a seeker-friendly church for YEARS, all the while being continually reassured by the pastor and the worldly people around me that I had “a home Forever in heaven” because I said “the prayer”. I was
    Coming out of Catholicism so I didn’t know better and of course I did not study my Bible.
    It wasn’t until my life was a chaotic mess that I threw myself at the mercy of God and completely surrendered my life to Him and asked Him to save me. It was like a light went on-I felt new Life enter me. The grass was greener and the sky bluer, literally. I realized I had definitely not been saved before when I thought I was. I am full of the Holy Spirit and of peace. Praise God!
    I have been on fire for God since then, and that was more than 10 years ago.
    I have a heart for the “lost” in the church since I was one of them. God help us. Those pastors preaching false gospels will be held accountable by God.
    We must examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith. Perhaps if I had heard even one sermon like that, it might not have taken years for me to see the light.

      Amen....That's my Story...l foolishly thought l was saved. Except what you said at the end. God chooses the timing of our Salvation. Have you read the Westminster Confession or the 1689 London Baptist Confession LBC or lastly The Canon of Dort. You can find them freely online. God must grant and draw us John 6:65, 44. Also look at v37. Soo you were Elected for Salvation before you were even Born...Appointed and The Father drew you at His appointed time. Look at John Chapter 17... especially v9. Your Salvation was in God's hand at His timing. God Bless...📖💞✝️

    Tom Buck NAILED it regarding the difference between an indifferent lecture and a genuine sermon, and all I ever heard at the OPC in Crystal Lake, Illinois were indifferent lectures, and the Founders-recommended "church" in St. Charles, Illinois is more concerned about making nice with supposed "Jews for Jesus" and participating in their Old Testament rituals which have been replaced by the "Jesus" they claim to be "for."

    We must depend and put our trust on the finished work of JESUS. GOD sees us as we are perfect in JESUS if we believe in HIM. The blood of JESUS cleanse us from our past, present, and future. We just have to come in repentance. Yes, narrow gate is the way to heaven and only JESUS can get us through the narrow gate and not our own work, otherwise nobody will be saved. The real danger is if we teach the work of JESUS is not enough to get us to heaven, otherwise we go back to moses law like JESUS never came. Thanks to JESUS for taking our place to get us back to the FATHER. Flesh is sinful, but our spirit in Christ is pure and holy as HE is.

    So the idea is not to come up at Judgement Day and say "did we not live as if you gave a law", but rather the idea is to say "did we not build our house upon you" which is to say "did we not believe your Gospel with a good and honest heart?"

    • @juangedeon4064

      @NicholasproclaimerofMessiah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@juangedeon4064 I'm trying to receive the Text. Sounds like you agree with my assessment, but you want to set the Text aside a bit.
      I'm not really sure what you mean by stating that most simplified summary; do you mean to imply I am making it too complicated? Many people complicate the matter by making that passage about works, when it's rather about salvation and knowing Jesus, which we know is separate from works. My intention was to address the clarity of what God intends by the Text in contrast to the common error of making it about works. Even here, Tom is a bit guilty of the error, but he also emphasizes the correct interpretation. Because he touched on both the error and the correct, it is a good opportunity to notice exactly what God is saying in the Text and to be aware of what God is not emphasizing in the Text.
      When it comes to salvation, our works are filthy rags. The way we avoid being called lawless is we trust Lord Jesus, because He kept the law. It's all about trusting Lord Jesus, but Lord Jesus is also emphasizing that to trust Him is to build our house on Him, and if we build our house elsewhere then we are lying if we say we are trusting Him.

    The Holy Spirit saves despite what men do! (or don't do!). I believe that some are indeed saved...even if they uttered "the sinners prayer", because God was working in them. But they know-that-they-know-that-they-KNOW they are saved not due to a prayer, but the presence of the Holy Spirit in them such that they recognize they are different. It's God who does the saving.

    Hi, struggling a lot with false salvation. I rededicated my life to Jesus personally yesterday, and have believed in Him in my heart since I was a child. Been trying to live right for Him but obviously have my own sins and have non-Christian friends which is a struggle on its own. How will I know I have been saved if the result is fruit, but fruit only comes over time from the Holy Spirit’s work? Should I just sit hoping I’m saved until I do something amazing and then can definitely say I’m saved because of this Christian thing I did? But then if I’m looking for that fruit, then aren’t I technically depending on it for salvation?

    • @brittanylund6757
      @brittanylund6757 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, I saw your post and can totally relate to your struggle. I used to battle this same tension and would rededicate my life and then live the same way I always did. I honestly didn’t understand that salvation is from God and I had to come to him broken and cry out to him to save me and see my need for a savior and repent of my sin and believe and trust in the finished work of Christ on the cross for me. I was 36 when I was born again. I think I was trusting in a prayer I said and not in the finished work of Christ. The believe God was drawing me my whole life and convicting me but it took me coming to the end of myself and seeing my need for a Savior. I don’t really know - but it was a work of God in my heart.
      I think deep down I still wanted my sinful lifestyle and my own way. I said I wanted Jesus but knew I still wanted to live in the dark. That’s just the truth now that I’m IN CHRIST. When God saved me he changed my heart and my desires. I still sin - the difference is I hate it and it grieves me and I ask God to forgive me. Here are some verses that hopefully will help you. I encourage you to get alone with God and cry out to him to save you and to help you examine your heart truthfully. We can deceive ourselves- I know I did and can still do that. We have to be in Gods word and let it grow us and convict our hearts and learn about the person and work of Jesus Christ. The more you grow in grace and in Christ the less we sin. We still sin so please remember that- if we were sinless then why did Christ die for our sins? He said it is finished! He died once for all and when we do since we have an advocate that we can go to directly- Jesus Christ! We will be forgiven. It’s not about perfection- it’s about direction and a relationship with our Savior.
      “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:8-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬
      bible.com/bible/59/eph.2.8-10.ESV
      “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
      ‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:5-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬
      bible.com/bible/59/1jn.1.5-10.ESV
      “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.”
      ‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:1-6‬ ‭ESV‬‬
      bible.com/bible/59/1jn.2.1-6.ESV
      “Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.””
      ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:33‬ ‭ESV‬‬
      bible.com/bible/59/1co.15.33.ESV
      I hope this helps! I will be praying for you and please know I’ve only been saved about 2 1/2 years so I am still a young believer and have a lot to learn. But I as a new believer have at times struggled with assurance of salvation- especially when I keep falling into the same sin. But the Bible says he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion. Also God has changed and done so much in my heart and life and I love him more than anything now and I’m so grateful he brought me out of the dark and into his light. Talk to God and share what you are feeling- he already knows.
      “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬
      bible.com/bible/59/rom.8.1-2.ESV
      Also being apart of good body of Christ (church of believers) is vital to your growth I believe. We need each other to go out and be a light! God uses other believers to help each other! 🙏❤️

    • @brittanylund6757
      @brittanylund6757 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also I wanted to say one more thing- it will cost you a lot to live for Jesus. It cost me everything- but I gained EVERYTHING! To be honest at times it’s a lonely road when you are the only believer at work etc. But you have peace and joy in Christ and he will bring you new friends who love him and you and he will use you to witness and be a light to your other friends. God is our Father and he takes care of us! He’s not withholding anything from us- he knows our needs and he provides. To say it’s always easy to follow Christ would be a lie/ especially when most people around you live in darkness. It’s hard but we have the Holy Spirit to help us and other believers to walk with us. Always remember that there are other children of God walking the narrow path with you and God is with you! Look at Jesus and his disciples - they were persecuted and killed. So to think living for Christ will be easy is deceptive and I’ve fallen for that before and was quickly discouraged. So please know if you take a stand for godliness it won’t be easy but it will bring God glory and that’s what matters. We’re to be a shining light to the world!

    As the protestant author Tozier wrote about protestantism,
    " In our zeal to escape the saved by works of the catholics we have committed the opposite error of faith without obedience".
    If the apostles, including Paul , were to miraculously show up today the church that would most closely reflect their teachings would be the apostolic pentecostals.

  • @Myjesus-1
    @Myjesus-1 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jesus taught that obedience is required to enter his kingdom:
    Matthew 5:30
    He said, "And if your right hand causes you to stumble, (sin) cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell."
    Hypocrites and lukewarm Christians claim a belief in Jesus, but they don't follow him.
    Jesus said, "Go and sin no more." The majority of his followers contradict him.
    Some even mock at the command that he gave us to live by.
    Jesus did not make mistakes in the language he used, yet countless Christians feel that it is their duty to speak for him and to correct him. Many even say that he didn't mean that, or he meant to say something else. They will even use his own bible scriptures against him to try and prove him wrong.
    It takes a lot of arrogance to challenge his authority, and those who do will be counted among his enemies. Those who reject his word reject him.
    When Jesus said "Go and sin no more" it was a command, not a suggestion. False Christians contradict Jesus. They say that sinning, even daily, is a normal part of Christian life, and it is even expected of us all. They know nothing about the work of the Holy Spirit to transform us to righteousness, and if they are told, they deny it.
    2 Timothy 4;3-4 warns us:
    "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
    They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths."
    The Book Of Hebrews agrees with the teachings of Jesus that obedience is required and sin leads to Hell.
    "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?"

    works are NEVER a measuring stick for whos saved or not.......salvation is simple, discipleship is not easy........salvation is Gods works alone while discipleship is mans effort in service to the lord after salvation.......when Jesus says i never knew you those people were trusting in their works plus faith instead of faith alone in christ alone.....the only proof of being saved is the new birth with the sealing of the holy spirit the certification of Gods sealing until the day of redemption......how one lives is also not a criteria for the new birth.......the ONLY requirement by God himself for being saved is to do his will and thats to believe on him who he sent and thats Jesus........Jesus did all the work up front, paid the full price and lived the perfect life for us...that leaves us to only have to believe and accept jesus as savior for salvation......in the book of john we are told 88 times to ONLY believe and nothing more is needed......and yes one simple little prayer is all one needs to do to be saved since God alone does the saving when we believe.....the only response God needs is for a person to hear and go from unbelief to believing......i never knew you means that even from the beginning the people were trusting in faith plus works instead of 100% faith alone in christ.......OH....you can never lose your salvation either.....OSAS is the gospel......

      …except Jesus Himself said that you will know a tree by its fruit. Our behavior (words/actions) give a testimony as to who is our master.
      Bad fruit on the outside/rotten inside (because that is where sin starts). It is possible to act holy and still have a rotten inside (Pharisees were hypocrites with hearts far from God).
      If we have Holy Spirit inside, we don’t continue in sin according to scripture.
      It sounds like you got a hold of some strange teachings. May God help you sort it out and lead you into all truth.

    Romans 11:32For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. Saul types read alot but didn't wake until being awaken inside where Christ is in man not outside looking and reading dead letters, you better wake yourself from not drinking milk. Ecclesiastes 3:15: “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.” The “natural man” cannot grasp that, for to him reality is based only on the evidence of the senses. The man of reason could justify the verse’s end, saying if it has any meaning then the writer must mean recurrence. The sun comes every day and the moon completes its cycle and the seasons come and go. If we took a picture of the universe today, the scientists can compute how long it will take to return to this point in the picture. So the intellectual man could justify the verse; but that is not what is meant, for it is addressed not to the man of reason or the man of sense, but to the man of Imagination. What is it all about? “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been, and God seeks what has been driven away.”

    John 6:28-29 and John 6:38-40 tells us what the will of God is spoken by Jesus.
    For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
    39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
    40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
