Big thanks to Abstract Programmer for the helpful Ubuntu installation video! It's my first time giving this system a fair chance, and your video made it much more approachable. Greetings from Piura - Peru!
Thank god you had a tutorial on this, I literally sat there in front of my screen wondering where I even went wrong. Good luck on your channel, and thanks for the tutorial -- it was all I need since last 2 days.
you can be sure that you only got 54k so far because either people don't know exactly how to search for this solution (took me almost an hour) or because indexers sometimes prioritize older content, because your video is the most intuitive I've found. thank you.
I was having same problem. Pero hice lo siguiente. 1. I hope that you get succeful in this procces.
It happened to me too. Fixed it by going through the process without setting any internet connection and skipping the third party software installation.
The Swap Partition isn't needed for newer versions of Ubuntu as a Swap File will be used automatically. There are some edge cases where a swap partition may be beneficial.
Thanks! For me, I wanted to install Ubuntu on some free space on a secondary drive on my Windows desktop. I just didn't follow the delete steps in the video's instructions. The drive was the only one in my system with free space, so it was easy to identify - I could even use the 'Device for boot loader installation' to quickly create the ESP. Still had to manually input the Swap and root.
i tried the Same and Now I cannot go bacxk to windows??? what Exactly happened??? I was hoping it will work as dual boot but Did it actually flashed my Windows???
as I have a main partition and inside that i have ubuntu 20.04 LTS and my complete data can I install 22.04 along side without creating new partition? or if I can create new partition by deleting previous one as you did in the video will my data be erased? Requesting answer!
I'm failing to install ubuntu. I have a disk were i created a partition fat32 were i copied all the ISO files and boot with EFI, then i try to install ubuntu in the same disk on the remaining space... is this the cause of the failed instalation? I saw online people doing that if they dont have a usb, they create a partition for it and boot from it... but in my case it complains about some type of loop in mount devices or something...
I upated on my old laptop from windows 10 to ubuntu 24, after i erase all windows stuff, ubuntu print out a error saying i need to reboot, after reboot i got a screen For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller Check Cable Connection, plz help, i dont know what to do
Thank you so much for this video. One question: I'm wondering why the data partition and the user files are in the same / partition. Before I thought that user files should be stored in an Ext 4 /home partition. (not sure, never done it, but I thought it was possible to reinstall the OS without changing the home partition. Is there a reason fo this?
That's a good question and your thinking is absolutely in the correct direction. I talk about it a bit more here: th-cam.com/video/Pvl3fYusplg/w-d-xo.html But generally speaking, you can separate the user files from the OS files - but you don't have to. No "better" option here.
I think the person like me. Who is watch on youtube how to install Ubuntu first time. Want to know how to install. In partition side which I only found different then window.. which I what to learn to create partition. I could not understand anything. You did not explain why we creating swap VFAt and what it do? No proper explaination. You just give order do this and it will work for you as it work for me.
linux is kind of complicated. depending on the distro, they change the name of things, so it may be different on other distros and flavors. but basically the swap is a space you set up to be a virtual memory, so that the system uses it to store date about the stuff you have open while using your pc - so that it won't occupy so much physical memory -, then deletes it after you finish the application.
And partition for home??? Your video is bad because if I have old information from ubuntu 22 in home, when I going to update to ubuntu 24, I will lost my old information from ubuntu 22 in home!!!
i did this, got error and now i lost my windows. thanks man. so now im stuck in BIOS. what now? how to get back windows? ok when i deleted the partitions, thats where it went wrong. i needed to reinstall windows so you just cost me many hours

I almost lost my mind trying to do this via documentation.
Your guide is perfectly formatted. Keep it up. Thank you!
I do agree 😉
Perfect!😊
When I tried this, and created the Ext4 partition, the utility also created a 1.13 GB FAT32 partition before it mounted as /boot/efi.
For me the installation with an unmounted and unused VFAT failed. Only after mounting it at /boot/efi installation worked.
I believe that's because you didn't have a 'grub' yet, which is the same as the bootloader on windows.
I'm getting the same thing. Did that work for you?

How to encrypt _/home_ partition during installation? I was able to do this under Ubuntu 18.04-22.04, but unfortunately not under Ubuntu 24.04.
It's showing System program problem detected.. Any solution?
It happened to me too. Fixed it by going through the process without setting any internet connection and skipping the third party software installation.

Remarkably clear and 100% effective - great work!

And if I don't have the VFAT option, can I choose fat32 instead?
Me too I didn’t find it what should i do ?
I wished to thank you for this video. Most of the internet is full of outdated guides but yours wasn't so thanks a lot
You're welcome!
i tried the Same and Now I cannot go bacxk to windows??? what Exactly happened??? I was hoping it will work as dual boot but Did it actually flashed my Windows???
Isn't your windows opening
This partition you done it's for MBR / GPT ?
Will this take care of any hidden partitions like on a system with a pre-install version of windows, etc. ?
as I have a main partition and inside that i have ubuntu 20.04 LTS and my complete data can I install 22.04 along side without creating new partition? or if I can create new partition by deleting previous one as you did in the video will my data be erased? Requesting answer!

I want to make sure none of my perosnal data on the computer js lost while installing linux. Will this help with that?
The VFAT partition is not mounted on any device and, after starting the system, it is available for use as a separate disk. This is not correct.
Hi. I have the same problem. How did you solve it?
@okojana11, use another guide
I upated on my old laptop from windows 10 to ubuntu 24, after i erase all windows stuff, ubuntu print out a error saying i need to reboot, after reboot i got a screen For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller Check Cable Connection, plz help, i dont know what to do
I believe that has something to do with the boot priority. try changing it in your BIOS again.

Please guild me through it... 😢

Thank you for your feedback
No /home partition?
can you/someone/anyone make a video about how to install linux with manual partitions on an ssd please? i want an esp, root, swap and home.
It's the same process for an ssd...
I guess there is no need for a /home partition ?
only if you want to separate the system files from your documents. otherwise, the system uses the rest of the space as an internal /home
@@brunolidade
Thanks !
wifi automatically disable why ?
What is the difference / or /home?
/ is for the system, /home for users folder
Thank you, this was quite useful.
Glad to hear!
Many Thanks for you! You are awesome!❤
