Honestly I don't remember off the top of my head. I have bought a Duramax since then. But I've always found the forms to be helpful on stuff like that!
I don't see it making an external leak since the gasket is for internal components. An external leak might be something like an oil pan gasket, rear main seal. Cooling lines, valve cover gasket, and things of that nature.
My oil pressure drops all the way down to where the light turns on and says low oil pressure. Also if I give it some gas like stepping on it and get it past the middle mark it’ll stop dropping and stay below the middle line. But it also ticks. Could that be the O ring or the whole pump?
I would like to speculate it being the O-ring because it sounds like you do still have some pressure. There is always that chance it could be the pump. But for how much cheaper the o-ring is, I think it's worth a shot replacing that first
@@liprippinoutdoors6445I have the same exact truck as you expect gmc and I had this problem the other morning fired it up and it told me I had no oil pressure , only thing is when I get into the gas a bit it will hold the oil pressure until I let it idle, to me it sounds like an oil pump but I don’t wanna tear it all apart and change it for it to not be , what you thinkin?
Nice video man! Very common problem on these engines. I came here to say though, that I seen you driving down the highway Yesterday(Monday) I was test driving a customer's 4 door F150. I wasn't sure if it was you so I took a picture of your truck but I am now sure it was! Small world we live in man! Keep the videos coming!
It's been a minute, so I don't remember exactly. I just know it dropped below what it usually sat at. And then after the job, it stayed a little higher for a couple moths, then returned back to normal
I probably seen a half a dozen videos on people replacing that O-ring. Why are the world would anybody do that much work and not shim the valve relief spring, at the very least, on that oil pressure pump. Just a single 5 mm washer would give you an extra 7 to 10 lb of oil pressure. At least from my Studies have indicated that and the original oil pump has plenty of volume to function that engine. Especially the ones with that asinine displacement system. The more on that thought that shutting down four cylinders of a V8 was a competent thing to do needs to have his freakin head examined to don't know ever let them get near the design or work on a vehicle ever in his life. Disrupting the normal function of an internal combustion engine is asking for failure.
GM needs to recall every one of them for this problem 90% is a cam bearing issue they used a cheaper cam bearing instead of a better one to make profits more for them!!!
More than you should pay. Just do it yourself and learn some things along the way. Pretty hard to mess up anything on a job like that unless your lazy and don't wamt to torque the bolts properly
nice update thanks for showing
Truck well not start just kills my battery. And the oil low pressure came on. What do I need to do I got a 05 silverado 2500hd 6.0 vortex
This video helped me a lot, oil pressure is back at 50 psi at idle. Thanks alot!
Glad you found it useful!
How many miles do you get to a full tank after filling up ?
I use to get between 310-350 miles depending on my driving. I no longer have that truck, since I purchased my 2500 diesel
great info!
What’s your idle pressure and driving pressure

Will this Make it leak as well

I have the same problem. Have you found the fix?
Imma try this before replacing my oil pump on my truck hopefully it helps
How many miles did you drive on that low pressure with ticking before you did this job?
It was less than 10 miles
How did you know it wasn’t the oil pump,
And what’s the name of the park you put the oil ring on
It was an assumption based off of research. The part is an oil pickup tube

Are the 2004 tahoe 4.8 same oil pressure as tue 5.3?
To be honest with ya, I wouldn't know. I would imagine then being similar
Did you end up changing the oil pump
No, just the o ring on the pickup tube. Never had a problem again until 6 months later when someone else ran a red and totaled the good ol chev!
Great Video Buddy!!!! Been having this issue and i was about to replace the oil pump. But i think I'm gonna try this first
Did it work

Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Good job on the follow up at a week and then 3000 miles, different temps etc.
Sure thing, glad to be of some help! I wanted to test and make sure it lasted someone long-term and not just immediate results
a man of many talents....fishing and automotive skill, impressive!
How thick was ice
Is ur truck 4x4?
Yes it is

More Silverado videos!! ✌️
How much does a job like that run for? At a shop? personal mechanic?
I'm not sure, maybe $400-600

Damn i woulda washed all that out before i worked on that. But anyways let borrow ur driveway
