    I live in Malaga and have always wanted to see the front on-approach. Thank you for providing this. It's lovely to see my home area from this perspective, and even spots the roads and places I frequent. You guys do a great job and service to everyone here who no longer have the opportunity to take the jump-seat and ride in the cockpit. (I did Heathrow twice in a 747 as a child, and once in Bogotá, Colombia).

      Thanks for watching and for sharing your very personal feedback! It is sad that we cannot have passengers anymore during the flight in the cockpit. But due to the security reasons and regulations we have no other choice. Have a nice day!

    Hi, there! I'm the controller at the initial approach sector (starting at 09:30) 😃
    I see you were curious why I told you you were number one but didn't give you direct and reduced you to 250 kts maximum. The point is we just opened RWY 12, so you were number one for RWY 12 but there were still traffic for RWY 13. Using RWY 12 we need only 3 miles separation between arrivals but we need around 12 miles separation between the last one for RWY 13 and the first one for RWY 12. I coordinated with the controller at the final approach sector so with a initial speed reduction he would give you a shortcut later.
    Anyway, very interesting seeing the other side, I will give more information the next time 👍

    Great video guys! My son flew into Malaga recently and said it was a bumpy approach. I remember watching a programme on the TV a few years ago now called 'FlightDeck' and they flew an AirUK 737 from Manchester to Malaga and the Captain of that flight said it can be a bumpy approach due to winds from the mountains and also the breeze from the sea. Always good to see you guys in action though, keep up the great work!

    Hello, Captain!
    My name is Víctor Manuel, I always follow your channel from Huesca, Spain.
    It is a pleasure to feel part of the crew and allow us to be inside the cockpit, in every video.
    With you and your first officer together, shows us how easy it seems to fly and how complicated it's to carry out each approach or take-off operation. That on each flight the crew and passengers are safe in their reliable hands.
    Thank you, from the heart, for your effort to share each flight. I wish you and crew that every flight is a path to success. Cheers!

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for sharing your good feedback! I love the full A320 family: The A319 can fly in and out of almost every runway. The A320 NEO and the A321 NEO are very fuel efficient, climb well and the A321 CEO and NEO are a very stable airplanes. Due to the mass and the higher approach speed of the A321, crosswind is not at real factor during most approaches and landings.

    Apologies if this has already been asked/answered before, but I am curious about how you go about calculating the TOD point? Is it always the same point on the same flight plan? Or are there other factors that come into consideration, such as company policy, passenger comfort, cost of fuel etc etc. Many thanks for this video, as others have said, it is great to see both MCDU’s!

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      First of all, thanks s for your financial support of the channel as a member!
      The top of descent is the precalculated descent point. Ideally, we descent with idle power until we add some thrust at 1200 feet or so for the final stabilization.
      The top of descent depends on the airplane weight, the wind during the descent, and the inserted cost index. The system finds out the required distance to descent in regard to the mentioned prerequisites and shows the point as a waypoint in the MCDU.
      The precalculation only works right if the expected inserted routing is similar in distance to the real routing.

    Stunning video as always captain. While watching the data setup on the mcdu i came up with a doubt. I thought that all a321 (CEOs and NEOs) were in the Cat C airplanes but you guys mentioned that the Ceo versions were inside Cat D. Automatically i thought it could be because any speed restriction that that airplane has and you have to revert to Cat D but im not really sure. Thanks in advance and safe flights!!

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Thanks for watching and for sharing your great feedback! The category of an airplane depends on the approach speed at the maximum landing weight. The A321 planes are close to the border of Cat C to Cat D. There are different maximum landing weight versions available and the NEOs are different in comparison to the CEOs. So finally some A321 airplanes are CAT C and others are CAT D.

    Excellent video again! I really enjoy these mcdu views! What do you think about the ILS procedure in LEMG and the long STAR? (In my opinion it is quite long to fly the whole segment but a direct is probably regularly given? The views you get from this arrival are very nice though!)
    Greetings from brussels!

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for watching and your good feedback! The long STARs or Transitions are designed to sequence traffic in the approach. With not traffic, everybody gets a direct to the final. With more traffic, we have to fly parts or the full arrival routing. The other option would be to publish just short arrival routings and to provide radar vectors in case of delays for traffic. Greetings to Brussels.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are right. The VLS shown on the PFD and the MCDU can only be different at certain software/hardware setups. A lot of the Airbus airplanes which I have flown until today have this setup. The VLS on the PFD is coming from the FAC computer and based on aerodynamic data and the entered CG from the loadsheet and the VLS on the MCDU is coming from the FMGS and is based on the entered zero fuel weight plus the remaining fuel. It the VLS on the PFD is higher, we add the difference to the approach speed in the MCDU.

    Fascinating video. On the turnaround, you activated the sec flight plan which i'm assuming you had programmed on the inbound leg as it was already showing your return route. • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      First of all, thank you very much for your important financial support as a channel member! The flight plan was received via the ACARS network after our Init Request on the ground.. The details are uploaded in the secondary flightplan of our flight management system. We activated the secondary. This transferred the details into the primary flightplan. Later, we verified the uplinked flightplan with our operational flightplan.
      The secondary can be used at the discretion of the crew. For example, during approach for another possible runway or as preparation for the departure.
      On the ground, we can also use it for another runway, a runway intersection takeoff, or for the engine out procedure, which we do on most flights.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There is nothing dangerous here. The altimeter setting in accordance to the ATIS was 1016. 1 hpa means only 30 feet of difference in the altimeter display which means that at the same geometric altitude the barometric altimeter would show 30 feet more when we use 1017 instead of 1016. This does not matter at all when flying at a nice day with perfect weather. Even at marginal CATI weather it would not be a problem as we fly along the glidepath. With 1016 instead of 1017, our geometric (real) altitude would be 30 feet higher at our Decision Altitude. This would be on the safe side.
