@BrutalTalent ?? Iris wanted to prove herself to her kingdom, right? She lacked the influence and power to get what she wished done (investigating Cult, Shadow Garden, etc.). To do that, she wanted them to "keep believing that they'll be safe so long as she's protecting them," and she wanted to do that by winning the Bushin tournament. Only for Cid to destroy her to play out a trope he thought was cool. That's how I read the situation. Was the way you saw it different?
@@Wincest346 batman wannabe part i mean, that’s hilarious(nowhere close to even imitating batman lol), plus he’s the one making time for his dreams, you’ve seen how his blonde friend and sister is all over his ass. That’s my point.
@BrutalTalent oh lol. That was the part you had an issue with? 😂 I thought you were trying to argue against my opinion on Iris' situation. But yeah, don't take the Batman part too seriously. It's just that he's thr closest thing to an "Eminence in Shadow" that I know of.
I really liked Iris' characterisation this episode, I feel like she built a big part of her identity around being the strongest and is having a crisis now that she finds herself a small fish in a big pond. I think this is something a lot of people who did well in school but failed meet expectations in higher education can relate to.
this was me with maths. I never studied and always got 90+ in maths till 12th. Collage maths was harder and I didnt study but I got A grade in all the math subjects. Then I tried to actually study maths on my own and got my shit handed to me. That made me realise I am no genius but my teachers were some of the best I could have asked for. Without them I am the stupidest person alive and now its kinda depressing.
Well going along with that as well is the fact that she is responsible for protecting her society, but if she can't score legitimate wins for herself, she can't assure the people of their safety. I think the personal identity thing is only half the struggle. She straight up can't do her job if she isn't the strongest. What worth is the captain of the town guard with moderate stats when the max level characters show up? Just go home and let them destroy your town if that's what they choose to do. To realize that but still HAVE to hold that job would be aggravating if not terrifying.
“Anyone who’s running is a bandit and if you’re not running you’re a well trained bandit” 😂😂😂. I know this is from a Vietnam movie, I just can’t remember which.
Iris was in the unfortunate position of being strong enough to understand just how OP Cid is unlike his previous opponents in the tournament who thought they had a chance until too late, but not strong enough to do anything about it. Iris also has never faced an opponent objectively stronger than her since she was a child (briefly meeting Alpha is closest she got), thus she never learned how to keep her wits about her in this kind of situations.
Even if it’s only implied that Rose’s father couldn’t be save her decision seems to be destroy any possibility to use her dad and herself to take control of their kingdom. Iris Vs Mundane Man had both sides of the idea: what if I’m strong enough to make a change?, Iris loved being praised when she was little and that help her to do whatever she wanted, but she forgot other people can be stronger than her, then what? For Cid (Mundane man/Shadow) he knows that he needed to become strong for his own benefit and he trained all his life for that, but his goal is not just selfish and childish, doing whatever he wants is a game for him because he is that strong but the difference between Rose and him he is honest that he is selfish, she is not.
The one thing I like about this show is that despite being comedic, there's real consequences to the actions being done. Rose killing her dad does make sense as she doesn't know both the depth of the corruption or how he's being manipulated. It's an impulsive solution that she made with her death serving as the punishment for not being able to stop this. True enough Cid words may have been referencing something else, but to her, it seemed to have meant that her fight against the corruption in her kingdom is still ongoing. This show's world feels lived in as each character has consequences for their actions. Iris is the perfect showcase to show how this world has consequences. Her country faced an unprecedented attack so they gave her a squad she can use to defend them at her command, then their first real mission ends with disaster so she loses political power and her squad is essentially halted, unrest festers in the people of her country and all of them look to her to solve it, that in turn causes her to spiral and twist her views that being the absolute strongest will solve everything and... she's humbled. Her father leaving is a heavy sign that he no longer sees her as being capable and now we must wait to see how this further causes her harm down the road. Definitely a show that you can just enjoy mindlessly but the plot development will in turn confound you when you're in the thick of it. Either way, it's a fun show that knows what it is plus tries to make its characters feel real. I feel this way you can enjoy the show in two ways: 1) as Cid, where you don't know what's going on but you're going along the spectacle, and 2) as a viewer enjoying uncovering the secrets of this world and witnessing the consequences its inhabitants create.
I think the reason Rose want to kill her father is because she doesnt want to see her dad suffering and become anyone`s puppet anymore , so maybe she choose to kill her father and her ownself , however shadow said that her fight aint done yet
To note in the manga, the reason why Cid saves Rose isn't very heroic. Essentially, Rose had stolen the spotlight moment of his victory from him, so he needed to steal it back and one up her hence the reveal.
My understanding is that what was happenning to rose's dad was more of a reanimated alchemy than a simple drug. The drug kept his body "alive" that's why p. A-hat wanted his "smell" covered with perfume and why Beatrix was all grossed out by his smell. Death has a nasty odor after a while. The puppet thing was only meant to last long enough to kill irises dad and spark a war. Then in the chaos P. A-hat planned to usurp the throne in Rose's place. Something like that at least.
I don't understand all the Iris hate. She's not a bad person. She just wants to do the right thing within her capabilities, but the pressure on her is too much and she doesn't know how to deal with it.
@@nolberto777 I don't say i hate her, you want to protect your country or who want to prove you the most powerful person now? What is the responsibility of the father? If can look it at that side maybe this is one of the explanation why he doesn't want to do a wrong thing and lose his family
Even if Rose's father was saved and Perv Asshet was killed the other high ranking aristocrats would have taken control over the kingdom's government. But with current situation Rose can gather those who are still loyal to her and raise a rebellion to overthrow them.
As was said by others, Rose's dad's mind was mostly gone by then. The sort of drugs in a medieval type society, that have such strong effects would be very unlikely to not cause permanent changes. At least worst, he may have ended up a drooling mess. The drugs could even be fatal in time. Doem was already planning on being done with King Orianna soon. Rose, and her father, felt that him dying was for the best. I actually feel really bad for her. I've read both manga and novels. No spoilers, but, of course she deals with what she did, like any remotely sane individual would, and it hurts, imagining taking my dad's life while he was a nearly comatose puppet.
