Damn. I donated that exact bag years ago. I was young and didn’t know they could be reconditioned. The old Coach bags are the best; in recent years they’ve looked like props from the movie Married to the Mob. (Michelle Pfeiffer).
This looks like the Basic Bag. I have one and love it. Coach is selling it for about $500 (sold out) and they’ve made a new version for about the same price. I used mine a few days ago. Perfect running around bag. Holds just enough. And I really like the straps! Mine is black and I’m looking for one this color. Makes good casual clutch too!
So good to see someone restoring these beautiful (practically indestructible) bags back to life rather than leaving them for the landfill. What do yo do with the bags you restore? TFS
Your restorations are amazing. I wish I had found your youtube channel earlier. I ended up throwIng out a court bag that I thought couldn't be saved. I kept my Scooter and its condition is similar to your restored bag so now very hopeful I can bring it back to life. Thank you!
Turned out beautifully, as always! I would love to know what products you use...what sort of brushes? How do you decide what cremes and conditioners to use? Thank you!
I bought the same purse years ago at a rummage sale. It got some mildew on it and I'm just now attempting to restore it. Thanks for the vids. I've seen the color called Putty, and the style Bonnie Cashin.
I was able to google a FULL list of every Coach #, pre & post USA/NYC production of bags & post… it’s a very long list, but has been extremely helpful to me when purchasing online @ auctions, & on myriad platforms. I think I entered something similar to full listing of Coach bag serial identifications since inception of company. I believe there were a couple sources. Should you hv difficulties locating- LMK- I’ll dig up list- see if I can’t find source. Live your work. I too absolutely LIVE restoring leather of all sorts, after about 18 years of professional horse-showing/working for a professional stable. That meant endless hours of leather cleaning, conditioning, oiling as well as silver polishing (w/out marring the lthr!). I’m about to undertake refurbishment of an early Coach design, on a “shopper” and hope to dye the lthr, bringing it up to a more vibrant fuchsia, from its mundane wine color. Fingers crossed. People feel lthr is somewhat like a newborn-though both (mother to 3) are amazingly resilient! Yes, CAUTION, but w/ care & proper procedures/products, both will provide lifetimes of pleasure! Fun channel! Glad to hv stumbled upon. You might consider doing an Amazon store or an affiliate links for your products. People are certainly interested, though I don’t know the ins-&-outs of setting that up! Best wishes. 🌻
Hello Ann...since you stated you googled a list that included it may have been helpful if you let her no if the bag was fake or real. The name of the bag would help also. She stated she couldn't find anything on the bag.
Very similar to my first coach purse, but mine was black. Yep, that was the strap with the brass leash connectors and the inside pocket. I used mine until it looked this bad, then gave it to the goodwill. The coin purse cost $90 in 1990 and I don’t remember the cost of the bag, it might have been $600. The BarKeepers Friend would have cleaned the brass to gleaming again. The brasses should be bright on this bag but not shiny. You can clean the zipper to clean brass again also and give it some graphite gel.
How do I “fix” a faded Coach pebbled leather Edie 31 bag that’s dyed teal? I think someone has tried to re dye it because when I conditioned it, lots of color came off.
Respect your knife skill. Too bad so many fashionistas let quality get abused and subsequently abandoned, eh? Dirt just fell off of this one. Wow. Your work is the best look I’ve had at Coach’s construction techniques of any videographer’s additions. Also, your process is inspiring, from a repairman’s point of view. You do beautiful work. Maybe not authentic, but still very nice. Enjoy.
I think it's an early Basic bag. The number 7847 isn't a model number, its part of a serial number that was used by Coach before 1994. The basic bag is model number 9455.
Oh well done! Such a helpful video. I'm thinking of starting a rehab project on a vintage Coach too to try something new. Thanks for this, lovely! Fellow handbag lover here and subbed to you -- let's keep in touch on TH-cam!❤️
What cleaning products do you use? Never ever saw anyone wash leather in soap and water. Have several Coach bags told never clean them myself send to Coach for authentication only they don't return any non-Coach, counterfeit suspicious bags. None. Mine are real but because they're old I don't trust others to restore or polish them. Thanks.

Just got one off Etsy and am currently following this process. I’m so excited.
100% authentic vintage Coach! Great job!
It's as if you brought the bag back from the dead. Beautiful restoration!

Your purse is an authentic Basic Bag style #9455 made in the 80s.
It’s the real deal...just an early piece. Nice rehab on it!
I have a collection of vintage Coach bags. I love them all.
Beautiful work! I like how your system is very simple but with great results! Can you list the products you use? Thanks
You did a wonderful job, I would like to know what products you used. Please

I have one like that, but in color black, can't seemed to find a pic of it as well but restored it anyways and its a beauty.😊

How do you decide if you can put the bag on water or not?
Coach Basic Bag. I have a black one from 1987. Paid $129 at the time. It is still looking great.
How do I “fix” a faded Coach pebbled leather Edie 31 bag that’s dyed teal? I think someone has tried to re dye it because when I conditioned it, lots of color came off.
Would you please let me know what kind of paint do you use?

Instead using dawn why you didnt use leather soap?
Gostaria de saber quais produtos são usados para a restauração dessas bolsas.
E parabéns pelo seu trabalho liiiiindo.💎💎💎
Do you know the name of this bag? I just got it yesterday in black.
@Vanessa Calderon thank you

Why don't you vacuum it before the soak?
This is a 9455 model. At the time this bag was made, they didn’t print the bag model number inside it was a serial number specific to that exact bag.
Nice job!
