Thank you Omar. I know these 'tutorial' type vids don't do as well for views/likes but they are some of your best content. I think I speak for everyone here when I say that those of us who do watch them *really* *really* appreciate that you still do them. You're a great teacher as well as being a great photographer (and youtuber). Please keep them up!
Thank you, Omar! I am one of the low key followers of yours. I appreciate everything that you do and sharing your photography knowledge to others . Please keep it up. You motivate and inspired a lot of people, even the silent ones like myself. Take care!
Loved this one...shared it with my college student son who is struggling to understand all these things with his current professor (who he finds boring and not super helpful) your style of coaching will really help him "get it"....thanks for this!!!
Omar, thanks. Your thought process as described for each of the images helps us to mentally practice before we hit the pavement! Keep up the good work, the cheerful attitude, the great sense of humor!
Awesome Omar for all your support to community and I am religiously follow you since begging and learn lot from you. Thanks for all your excellent support. You are Truly amazing guy. Keep it up buddy.
Thank you for this series! You have given me some great ideas for my photo shoots from now on. Just one of the many points that blew my mind was when you talked about bokeh being more obvious at 55mm rather than at a wider angle. I had never thought about focal length affecting depth of field. Also...using burst mode with bugs. Please keep these videos coming!
As a beginner to intermediate photographer I find it really valuable to hear you talk through your thought process. Videos about the settings and what they do is helpful but giving it the context and understanding how you’re using them is awesome.
You have the gift of teaching what some people consider complex and difficult. You simplify a migraine into an easily understood delivery of oh so valuable information. Thank you for creating your You Tube channel. Your also funny as heck. I bet you are a hoot after a few...lol. As always keep up the good work and keep'em flying....Planet Red will be watching....lol.
I was also thinking exactly this. I mean, he is an amazing teacher via youtube, but he could totally make the jump to a college or high school photography class.
I am two years in and recently took an intermediate class that definitely reinforced for me that I have attained that level. These videos have done the same in a wonderful way. I love the way you have covered all the bases in these two videos and used examples to make it come alive. Great job Omar! 👍🙏☺️
Love the format, love the idea. Please do more of these. I feel your aperture is just a stop wider than I would have guessed. Is this to do with sensor size? Great of you to show pics in which you think with hindsight that you could have had a slightly different setting.
Thank you for your work. I really like your humorous way of doing videos but also appreciate this kind of more technique videos. Greetings from Germany! Take care
Thank you for parts 1 & 2. I’m always reviewing the basics, especially since January when I got the XT30 for travel. Great clarity in explaining things & I knew there was a reason I never use auto ISO. by the way , if your Belgium trip isn’t canceled due to the Virus you should visit the Antwerp train station- it’s an architectural phenomenon.
Thank you, Omar. I just got to your channel a few days ago and I'm consuming all your videos like crazy. In particular the tutorials are extremely helpful to the conscious incompetents like me. Keep it up!
Very helpful. Maybe I can move up to intermediate soon. One thing I’ve found is that even with aperture priority one has a tendency to think the camera will work it out and one doesn’t pay due attention to the detail. Good video Omar
Visually I'm a firstly compositional thinker. I walk or drive around, looking ... and decide which focal length and d.o.f. I want for capture. That necessarily then brings me to aperture (unless the subject is action). So for me I'd place your first column as _third_ because auto vs manual is merely the method to reach how I use the first two choices. The trouble with photography is that ultimately ain't none of it unimportant. The other day I participated in a quick and casual shoot or my kid and her friends indoors, all dressed up to go to "a formal" (middle school dance.) I brought one lens, the wrong one, because I prioritized its low light capability instead of firstly being able to capture the scenes (focal length). Rookie mistake.
I have been watching your videos, I just found you not that long ago.YOU ARE THE BEST THERE IS ON TH-cam !!!!! Thank you I well keep watching, you have already helped me so much keep up the great videos your the best.
Another great video Omar! If you ever get tired of photography, and I hope you don't, you should consider teaching as a profession. You've got a knack for it.
Brother, I make my living with photography and I enjoyed your video thoroughly. I always enjoy and learn when I get a glimpse of another photographer's thought process and flow.
New to photography and bought an Fuji X-T100 as my starter. Been following you for a couple of months and really click with your presentation style, both on reviews and the tutorial stuff. On your recommendation I just bought a 35mm F2 WR to supplement my 16 - 80F4 and you are helping me to understand when and why to use these lenses to maximise my investments. Thank you and keep 'em coming.
Omar, thank you for making this video brother, I lean a lot from watching your videos. Keep doing what you are doing, you create an impact and you definitely contribute to make this world a better place....through Photography. Thank you.
thank you again Omar.. you would be a great photography professor .. i took notes on your settings mentioned on all pictures & planned to test it myself. hoping for more series of this. thanks!!
Yes Omar, it was very helpful...even though nothing you mentioned was really new to me (well, maybe 1 or 2 things...), it's all a great review and reinforces what we may already know. Thanks for taking the time to put these vlogs together for us...
Very helpful, Omar! I've been using manual mode on the Fuji X-t3 except for auto ISO. However, I've been doing this without too much thought process. Now, with all these other elements you're bringing into the picture, I am forced to think about what is happening in the camera. By doing this, I'm gaining a better understanding of processing all the elements in my mind, which prevents complacency. Thanks, Omar!
Thanks Omar. Didn't realise how much higher your F stop needs to be when shooting close up. Also had no idea you can increase bokeh by using a higher focal length. V. useful to see the thought process. Great video format!
Hey Omar, so honoured to hear you’re visiting Belgium this summer! Cycling-photography tip: the book ‘Flandrien’ by Belgian photographer Stephan Vanfleteren. Small book, great photographer!
Learning so much from your brilliant videos. Particularly love this one looking at scenes through the eyes of a pro - thank you from a newbie owner of a Fuji T20 and super excited to get shooting.
Thanks again man, already looking forward to part 3 (#nopressure) ;) One thing that I would love to see now that you've gone in-depth on the thinking before taking the shot, is how you go about post-processing. I'd also love to see you do a street photography session - what do you do when you walk around, how do you about taking photos of the people, etc. Love your stuff, keep it up!
Super helpful. Right in my learning curve! Think I will make my own little cheat sheet and analysis some of my own shots because I am often just twirling dials out there, and need to get my thoughts more organized in order to pick correct settings. Best video I have watched on this. Keep the intermediate series going!!
I think that in Fuji Cameras if you set the Dynamic Range to Auto at scene with harsh contrasting light it will go to something like DR 200% and boost the ISO up so people if you don't want the camera to pick higher ISO when you leave Auto ISO maybe consider turning off DR Auto
Thanks, as always! Your videos are always informative and easy to follow. I loved the fact that we could see the photo and your tablet with simultaneously. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic! Thanks Omar. You’re one of the first TH-camrs I followed on my new photography journey and you’ve helped me a lot. I love your no nonsense and unpretentious approach. You make it fun (as it should be. ) please keep reminding me that gear doesn’t matter!
Thank you Omar, I love these tutorials. I want to up my photography game. I am playing around with manual and aperture priority but I was unclear about certain things or if I was even doing it right. Your tutorials have given me more confidence to just keep trying and playing with it. If I get a couple of good shots from a day out I’m happy. Love the channel, all the best, Ray 👍
This was super helpful to understand really the thought process behind the images. Thank you so much, Omar! I haven't seen these detailed explanations from any other channel.
Omar. Thank you. Indeed a great learning process to consolidate how to take pictures. I have an XT1 and I usually take photos in Aperture (A) priority. In the pass I took it in Manual mode, but in A mode it is faster and photos come well.. Normally my ISO is most of the time in manual, because the camera has trend to go to high ISO and that brings noise in my old sensor. Anyway, I will try more often to automatic ISO limited to ISO 800 for outdoors . The other issue is photos in burst modern and now I become more aware of the advantages . I will be interested in Manual focus combine with the use of back bottom focus (AF L.). In continuos focusing mode this camera it is not very good- it does not follow the objects. Omar thank your insightful highlights. Regards Antonio, from Portugal.
I really LOVED this video. It really helped organize my brain and identify the proper settings quickly. Thank you thank you thank you for your awesome videos. I just found you recently and watching so many of them.
Omar, really enjoyed this intermediate series! More videos are definitely appreciated! I learned a lot from both part 1 and 2! Currently shooting with my first camera outside of an iPhone...Fuji X-T10 (in 2020? I know, upgrade lol). But I love it! Might snag a used X-t2 soon! Keep up the great work!
In both my Canon cameras, I use exposure compensation in manual mode with Auto ISO. It's the closest you can get to full manual without worrying too much about exposure between shots.
Maybe your camera often chooses ISO 400 cause you've set it to DR Auto. Then the camera mostly pick ISO 400 (or 320 in case of the latest Fuji sensor) I think. Nice video again! You're doing a great job with your channel! Really like everything!
That was really good. I knew most of that but it’s a good refresher lesson. I really like all your videos. Plus you take photos in Hudson County as I do.
Great video, extremely helpful. Bookmarked. I like seeing the thought process and I hope I can retain some of it. Not sure why, but when I use exposure compensation, I often get my it backward from what I want to accomplish and have to take a second (or third) shot.
Great News, Omar : you're coming to Belgium ! If you ever need a local guide or just want to have a beer together, I’ll be honored to meet you in Liège or any other city you’re planning to visit !
Thank you, Omar! These videos are so helpful. Maybe by summer when I take my next long vacation, if I see enough of your tutorials, I can get a couple of shots that I can be proud of.
Thanks for these videos. Doing a little prep before a trip to Colorado with my new X-T30 upgrade from the X30. You're right the Q button is annoying and the missing d-pad is a bummer, I but couldn't pass up the price for the body and kit that I found. Also splurged on the 16mm 1.4 which I realize is total overkill for a newbie, but I missed the close focus distance of my X30 so much.
Hi Omar, In one of your recent videos you mentioned you were going to Belgium. I lived in Brussels from ,74 to '77. It is a great city, ideal for walking and also easy to move from area to area on the Metro. One walk that would take in a lot of sites would be to Start at Louise Metro station. North to the Palais de Justice : then North East to the Square du Petit Sablon : then a short walk to Église catholique Notre-Dame-du-Sablon : Short walk to Grote Zavel (nice place for a break) : From here it is due North to the Grande Place. If you are going anywhere else in Belgium let me know it is an interesting a varied country and the food is great.
thanks for the videos omar. I think when you set your auto ISO you had your ISO at 400 because then it will set that as the minimum and wont go below it. If you change it to a lower ISO when setting up auto ISO it should be resolved your problem from what i have researched.

I could have written this. Instead, I simply second it.
I appreciate you coming out and saying hello. It means a lot! Very motivating. thanks.
@@christopherbgriffith I'm you.
For real!!! His content is amazing!
Dont stop with this, its gold.
Thank you Omar! This intermediate photography series is delightful, keep it up :)
Great !! Great !! Omar.
Thanks.
I'm waiting for Part 3, 4 and so on ;)
This is such a great exercise. Can’t encourage you enough to do more of them. Thank you Omar!
Please continue giving this classes, I am learning a looooot with you.
Loved this one...shared it with my college student son who is struggling to understand all these things with his current professor (who he finds boring and not super helpful) your style of coaching will really help him "get it"....thanks for this!!!
Absolutely. Glad to help
Found It 😃 - just saw Part One a year later. was looking for part 2. Hoping at some point Omar makes more of these 😃👍 June 2021
Omar, thanks. Your thought process as described for each of the images helps us to mentally practice before we hit the pavement! Keep up the good work, the cheerful attitude, the great sense of humor!

Omar is one of the true togs left on here.
Your teaching style is delightful... keep it up! Thank you!
I appreciate the time you took to make these videos. Extremely helpful
Fantastic. Getting away from looking for better gear and leaning into learning the triangle. Great lessons, both one and two. Thanks
Yes Omar, it was very helpful...even though nothing you mentioned was really new to me (well, maybe 1 or 2 things...), it's all a great review and reinforces what we may already know. Thanks for taking the time to put these vlogs together for us...

Thanks Omar for talking though your thought process. It is very helpful!
Thanks Omar. Didn't realise how much higher your F stop needs to be when shooting close up. Also had no idea you can increase bokeh by using a higher focal length. V. useful to see the thought process. Great video format!
Thanks Omar, a very helpful tutorial. And it always makes me feel good watching your stuff, because you‘re so funny, nice and easy. 🤗👌🏼
Realized from boots and flowers example that my aperture was causing focus issues (bokehlicious) and not AF system. Really great
You have become my Fuji guy and most favourite vlogger for useful photography tips! Thank you!! 8-)
Great way of teaching. Thank you. Found you about a week ago and really enjoying your videos. Nice work Omar!!
Love your channel. Keep this intermediate series going.

Thanks a lot. I learned a lot. Just got my canon 90 D and I’m totally new to photography
Another great lesson. Thanks so much Omar.
Really helpful, thanks Omar. Loving this series.
Thank you Omar!! We need part 3 plz!
Awesome video, Omar - really helpful. More like this, please!
Thanks for the F stop tip when shooting macro.

Very helpful Omar, thx! Love to hear that you come to our country...

Coool !!! Wonderful video. Keep they comming. Thank you Omar
Thanks Omar! I learned interesting stuff (DOF shallower with longer focal length).
You’re giving excellent stuff, Omar. Keep it up 👍🏻
Great News, Omar : you're coming to Belgium ! If you ever need a local guide or just want to have a beer together, I’ll be honored to meet you in Liège or any other city you’re planning to visit !
