@@SchulzEricT You're partially correct, but the Bears were fully set and ready to snap at exactly 10 sec. Caleb didn't snap until exactly 5 sec. @@sculbertson2656 They couldn't run the ball to save their life. Caleb was the only reason they were even in the game. They didn't decide to start blitzing GOff until after they had 4 scoring drives + the drive they fumbled. So really not until the 2nd half which is ridiculous. He was carving them up until they started to pressure him which was a little late considering it was 16-0 + a fumble at the 5 yard line so it could've easily been 23-0 going into halftime. Caleb is a rookie, can't expect him to play like a vet, but the coaching staff on both sides failed the team by not adjusting until the 2nd half and then just absolutely blowing it after that bad sack on the 2nd to last play. Literally everyone watching the game was screaming at the tv for them to call a timeout and all the Lions fans were dumbfounded and relieved they didn't.

Well, the plan itself wasn’t so bad, yeah. But there comes a point where you have to realize you are not going to get the play off in time and you HAVE to call that timeout. Regardless of the plan, there was plenty of time to realize that and take action
I'm not sure how this could possibly occur. Between QB, all of the players, head coach, assistant coaches, people up in the booth on the headset, nobody screamed call a timeout here? Who TF is in charge?
@TIdtiDmiso Have you ever been at a job and know your tasks better than your boss and you have to "lead" your boss to get things done? We've all experienced that... That's what happened here... "If" Williams knew what to do and wasn't yet empowered to do what was necessary, that's what happens... If Williams called the timeout and it's the right call, even if they win, Williams could still be disciplined for electing to make a decision "above his pay grade." That's how regular jobs work...
What about that phantom DPI on the Lions on fourth down? CBS didn't even show the whole thing on replay. They cut away just as the "penalty" was supposed to have happened??? We were all sitting there incredulous that the broadcasters didn't show a critical call where the officials conferenced? What is THAT all about???
Former HC Cowher and former QB Ryan said it right on the money, Call time out, Spike the ball, Make a serious play to get them in field range. Instead your scared and afraid in order to play to lose. It goes to show you that HC Flus isn't fitted for the job. It's not on the players, It's on the Coach and if GM Poles enjoying this, then President Warren has to pull the plug and dismiss them both at the top of the hour and give Thomas Brown the interim HC until off season this team can start scratch and find a new GM and HC to get this picture right. Bears, Jets, Raiders and Browns are garbage 🗑️ dumpster fire organizations that definitely should get an extremely makeover in front office.
Spiking ball is giving up 3rd Down to kick a long, long FG... Spiking's not a first option prior to calling time out!! A) You can't die with a timeout and still not mount an effective opportunity to win nor tie... B) You can't take 25 seconds to make a decision... C) You HAVE TO have someone as a back-up to assist you with clock management (if you actually have a plan)... A lotta stuff going on, BUT... Drop dead time on clock is... Whatever you decide two minutes ahead of time... Good Coaches run players through scenarios AND Coaches as well... Don't let one man (person) lose a Game nor my job... Even if that one man is the Head Coach!! I said the same thing when Shanahan messed over the overtime in Supa Bowl... How does nobody know the rules and/or nobody is empowered to speak up (either)? He was blaming players and there seemed to be a gap in Shanahan's understanding even though he claimed to know the rules...
Look at the reaction on the sideline from 1:33 to 1:43. Everyone on the Bears' sideline seemed to notice the clock running out, but 1) the head coach didn't call a timeout, and 2) the QB seemed to take forever to snap the ball. The QB took from 0:15 to 0:06 to snap the ball!
@davidodonnellfilm there was no catching in stride. He had a defender on his back. So he could have either laid out for it and he would have landed short and been touched down or even if he caught it standing up, he would have been tackled immediately.
@@davidodonnellfilm now its the receivers fault!! 🤣🤣 whos next? The waterboy for not getting Caleb hydrated?? Bears mafia is so pathetic and deserves the garbage teams they have.
Caleb Williams made a huge mistake and Eberflus let him do it... Williams cannot waste time trying to read the defense. He has to just snap the ball and put faith in the play call. As for Eberflus, as soon as he sees Williams wasting that time, he needs to call the time out...
Where is the situational awareness from the players on the field? Not only do they just saunter to the line like it's a play in the middle of the second quarter, but starting at 1:35 nobody realizes that maybe we had better snap the ball? 85 and 79 are calling out blocking assignments while the clock is ticking down. Then, even after the QB got the snap there was still time to throw a quick 6-8 yard pass to get in FG range and call timeout with 1 or 2 seconds left, but he just casually dropped back and threw deep instead. I get that the coach screwed up but all 11 guys on the field didn't seem to have any idea what was going on either.

@@dave34573 You don’t need to save a timeout to kick a field goal, When he got sacked it was 32 seconds left, You call the timeout immediately and you draw up a play to get some yards for a easier FG, If the player makes the Catch you will have enough time to rush the FG unit out, If the player don’t make the catch the clock stops and you can kick the FG. Also you play it this way especially when you have a rookie QB as a Coach you have to be aware of your QB is not a Vet, He should not have been in that situation in the first place.

Caleb is the turkey. Flus is just another no-name coach. If we replace him, it’ll be another no-name coach no difference. Caleb Now, while still people think he’s “generational“
You can blame Eberflus all you want, but Caleb Williams sitting on the clock didn't help either. Everyone was set at 12 seconds. Everyone should have been set at 15 seconds. Caleb didn't call for the snap until 5 seconds. He 100% was looking at the play clock and didn't know the game was basically over when the took the snap. It's not Eberflus' fault that WIlliams didn't snap it soon enough AND can't look at the right clock.
No, but it's Eberflus' responsibility to see that his rookie QB is making a mistake and call timeout. That's why you have a coach. Otherwise just have all the players decide what they're gonna do, you could save millions. Instead, the Bears pay millions for a do-nothing dipshit.
@@brianm6117 the cadence is part of the play call. I guess you just don't know football. The playcall they had was for after a QB draw not after a sack. Did you not see the free rusher? His coach let him down again. At least when the Lions HC lets his players down, he cries at the podium about it.
I can actually see his point of view but once the chaos started he should have called a time out. The Bears were completely lost there. Everyone saw it but Eberflus.
Everybody was saying the game management was the reason they lost that is far from the case, that sack that Caleb Williams took to take them out of field goal range was definitely the play that stamp their demise
What was the coach supposed to do, call their last timeout out of field goal range? Williams should have thrown a short completion so they could get the field goal unit out. Rookie mistake by williams.
He’s a rookie so he gets a pass but Caleb deserves a lot of blame too. He was lined up with 15 seconds plenty of time get a play off and a timeout, but he waited 8 seconds. I know he’s a rookie but he has to have some sort of awareness. Don’t know what he was thinking.
Did you not notice the almost 20 years worth of experience on the left side of the line not knowing how to line up for 5+ seconds. But yeah let’s blame it on the rookie…
He was told not to use any timeouts, and he got a play call. He’s a rookie, if coach calls a play you go through with it. Everyone knows this unless you never played sports before
@@Jasper118 yep, everyone else's fault for Caleb's failures. Can't throw a ball 10 yards in front of him. Can't snap the ball without taking 30 seconds. Can't run a 2-minute offense without changing the play twice. Yep, nothing to see here, folks!
@ you either don’t know how the game works or you’re just trolling. He couldn’t snap the ball sooner because his veteran receivers couldn’t get set correctly, if he snapped it sooner it would’ve been a penalty, so that’s a good call. He can’t call a timeout, that’s the coaches job so when the clock hit the point of no return he threw it to the end zone. Just because you personally hate Caleb doesn’t mean everything is his fault. He’s a rookie, we can live with his learning curve but the coaches mistakes are inexcusable

You deserve the trash organization you have for lying about this fraud for 2 years and defending his failures. Don't tell me idk how the game works when you dont even know QBs can call timeouts.
As bad as this looks, as a Broncos fan I still remember Hackett with a fourth down, 60+ yards for a field goal in Seattle, and Russell Wilson’s first game as a Bronco let the clock expire with around 50 seconds in the game to try a long field goal vs trying to get the first down. When the kicker missed the kick, I had a feeling the Broncos hired the wrong head coach and things kept getting worse and Seattle had the Broncos first and second picks. So it could be worse. Once the Bears ownership and the GM knew they were going to draft Williams, the team should had move also moved on from the coach like it did with Fields. The team should had hired an offensive minded head coach. I think Williams will be ok, but he and his teammates will have to learn a new offensive system which takes time. Hang in there Bear fans.
Matt Ryan is the last person that should be trying to tell anyone about poor time management Mr I'm not gonna audible to run plays up 28-3 even though the run game was working and my coach is an idiot, falcons aren't even my team
Eberflus said he that, with 36 seconds left, he expected Caleb to snap the ball with about 18 secs left. One problem: he was sacked with about 31-32 secs left, not 36, (he was being helped up by his linemen at 28 secs - that's about when they can actually start to move into pre-snap position; feels relevant) and he didn't snap the ball at 18... or 17... or 16... or 15. Eberflus should've called TO *LONG* before 10 secs. (Probably should've called it with 32 secs left, trust that they can get yards, run the field goal team on, and get a kick off; they'd've had about 23-25 secs to do that, more than enough time.) ALSO I'm not sure when Caleb could get the snap off without getting a pre-snap penalty. Some people think the offensive players are moving because he called an audible, but I don't know. The TE, #85, and the slot receiver, are both still moving until about 10 secs. That doesn't look to me like an audible by Caleb, that looks to me like them talking to each other because they didn't know the play (it looks like Caleb called a play initially and I don't ever see him change it, it looks to me like he just keeps screaming for the same play - he's making the same motion - the entire time).
Lol Caleb screwed up. He let 13 seconds run off. He's directing players when they should have ran a quick play. Timeout is needed in case they do a pass in the middle Of the field. Yes the coach sux too
I agree Caleb jagged the game too but since he a rookie he won’t be crucified but ultimately if you are the coach you have to take charge and call a freakin time out give yourself a chance
Dude what are you watching. They ran the same play. No ine onone on the offense is hustling then they lined up incorrectly. Look at Kmet and the receivers switching positions. Caleb couldn’t snap the ball or it would have been an illegal shift. wtf are you watching
@@Unbothered_allegory36 If they call a TO with 32 secs left, you can run a play and then run the FG team on the field in time to kick the FG before time expires, easily. But yeah, this way was better.
This was the QB's fault, he got sacked and wasted 30 seconds between 2nd and 3rd down. Coach was waiting till 4th down to use the timeout but he didnt get the chance because the qb is a dummy.
@jerrybrown6169 every decent qb since the beginning of time has run a 2 minute or hurry up offense. The coach would've wasted their last timeout, and they still would've been outside field goal range.
Did everyone suddenly forgot to play football ? They had enough time to go for one play and they take timeout on 4th down. Caleb lost like 10 seconds waiting for something.
He has some blame in this, but the buck ultimately stops with the coach. He failed to coach situational awareness. He failed to recognize his rookie QB making a mistake and failed to intervene by calling timeout.

Eberflus is 5-19 on one score games and this is why . The dude is fucking cheeks and he is ruining a truly great rookie QB. Just leaving the poor man out to dry .
Ya when your coach is too dumb,QB needs to tell coach shut up,ill handle it from here when your coach wont
@@SchulzEricT You're partially correct, but the Bears were fully set and ready to snap at exactly 10 sec. Caleb didn't snap until exactly 5 sec. If he snapped it when they were ready, that still leaves time for a play with a timeout. He did literally the one thing he couldn't do: throw it deep and waste the little time they had left
"I didn't want to be late for Thanksgiving dinner" ~ Matt Eberflus
I mean the crazy thing is all they needed was either that the head coach to do something or the QB to do something. Like either one of them could have salvaged this play even if the other one had a complete brain lapse. But for both of them to stand there and do nothing for 35 seconds is one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen.

Yeah that’s not being talked about enough. He’s probably watching DJ too much and trying to act like him
Because catching the ball and being tackled short of the end zone would've ended the game. Trying to jump into the DB and draw DPI would've put them in position to kick a FG to tie it.
This was one of the most unintentionally funny things I've seen to end a game like this.
They drove all the way down the field masterfully and then went backwards, before denying themselves even a chance at kicking for OT. That's probably the most Lions thing I've seen, and it was against them this time.

Caleb Williams took the sack that knocked them out of fg range 😂
This isn’t hard to figure out. He wanted Caleb to get them a little closer then use the timeout. He wasn’t expecting Caleb to go for the end zone. That’s why he made a WTF hand gesture after that throw. It was a good idea that just wasn’t executed. From a Saints fan
Well, the plan itself wasn’t so bad, yeah. But there comes a point where you have to realize you are not going to get the play off in time and you HAVE to call that timeout. Regardless of the plan, there was plenty of time to realize that and take action

I was listening to this exact sequence on the car radio.... every announcer was WTFing... Clock management is 100% the coaches' responsibility.
I agree, though I would add Giants and Jaguars to that list. Carolina if they look the same again next season.
Spiking the ball means the Bears of Chicago would have to convert a 4th and 26 just to try to kick a field goal.

@@commonsense3921 so much time he let runoff the clock. 100% on Caleb. U don’t call a timeout after sack because it was 3rd and 26 and they were not going to convert it so they had to save the timeout instead off running the FG kicking team on with running clock. The 3rd and 26 was the problem.

Bears confused the Lions so bad even they were like "wh- really? you're gonna end the game like THAT? C'mon man at least do something..."

I don’t want to hear Matt Ryan talking about epic failures. Matt, you put us through a lot but you are a hall of famer.
What was the coach supposed to do, call their last timeout out of field goal range? Williams should have thrown a short completion so they could get the field goal unit out. Rookie mistake by williams.
You call a timeout with 32 seconds left to draw a play to get an easier FG then spike the ball…..Duh,😂
This will be good for the script writer on Tom Grossi channel 😂
That's on Williams too.
Lol at Goff looking around trying to figure out what happened.

Matt Ryan is the last person that should be trying to tell anyone about poor time management Mr I'm not gonna audible to run plays up 28-3 even though the run game was working and my coach is an idiot, falcons aren't even my team

@paulmayer8654 I guess you could technically say that. Good point. He's speaking from experience very very true point. Thanks for pointing that out.
@@BigRaji1981 Yeah he should’ve audibled an entire quarter worth of plays in the Super Bowl, I think an MVP can speak on the game. Moronic
(Probably should've called it with 32 secs left, trust that they can get yards, run the field goal team on, and get a kick off; they'd've had about 23-25 secs to do that, more than enough time.)
ALSO I'm not sure when Caleb could get the snap off without getting a pre-snap penalty.
How he still has a job is a miracle. How many first round QB’s are the McCaskeys going to let him ruin?
Lol Caleb screwed up. He let 13 seconds run off. He's directing players when they should have ran a quick play. Timeout is needed in case they do a pass in the middle
Of the field. Yes the coach sux too
Fr idk why the coach is getting blamed. If he wastes that timeout then they don’t get a shot at a field goal if the play ends in bounds.
