Thanks for this. Now people can stop making it seem like this firing was because of just his last few games. No this has BEEN a problem. He can’t finish games. What’s crazy is they coulda beat quite a few quality teams during this disaster too.
I still remember the 1st match-up against the Lions in '23 where they lost it on a late INT Fields got blamed for. The Bears lined 3 receivers up wide left together as decoys I guess (not included here) as they were backed up against their own end zone & the Bears couldn't risk sending receivers on long routes, but did. Did you know that even drop-backs & how many steps a QB takes on them is designed by play-callers into plays? In this case they sent 3 receivers nowhere useful leaving Fields whoever was left & they sent those immediately behind the d-line. This forced Fields to either try to throw just over the heads of defenders or loft it so high they'd have time for a coffee break while on their way to camp under the pass when it came down. That or take the S in the end zone.
@@Bluebirdfalling No. This is bandwagoning for the sake of it. 99% of what's discussed *on analysis channels* is people trying to figure out which Popular Memes to support: "Lamar is an overrated RB, Fields can't read defenses." As a lions fan who was excited about winning, I was still shocked on how we won. Mind you, the Packers, Vikings, AND us Lions basically handed the win to the Bears. And what did the head coach do in response? Absolutely fumbled the chance, both figuratively and literally in some cases. Honestly, if the bears weren't handled with how they were, they would have just the same good season as the other division teams.
As much as the Bears prided themselves on never firing a coach in season, Eberflus gave them absolutely no choice after such an embarrassing and egregious debacle in front of a national Thanksgiving audience.
@coreyrowe4119 As a Lions fan, I mean it genuinely when I say y'all made the right call to break that tradition. You have talented players, including your QB, who need good leadership. Everlose was never going to provide that. You guys deserve better.
Most of this video beats up on the players. I thought this all would be about bad coaching by Eberflus, but only the last clip shows that. The last clip rightfully shows the effects of his bad coaching, his stupefied look on the sidelines after the clock runs out, and his incoherent explanation at the post-game press conference. It would be good to show his post-game babblings after other losses, his nine consecutive failed challenges of officials calls and effects of his bad coaching in other games.
As a Lions fan, if the Bears organization has Jim Caldwell on hand, why tf wouldn't they give him the job? He's an excellent coach. I wouldn't trade Campbell, but Caldwell should not have been fired by the Lions. Also Eberflus talking about the end of the Thanksgiving Game is wild. If you take a sack in that situation, you call your time out immediately, then you've got at least one, maybe two throws to the sideline before you send your FG team out. Also I want to point out that he might still have a job if the game had ended on the 4th down stop earlier in the drive that was flagged for PI. If the game ends there, the Bears are a scrappy team that fought back hard against a great opponent and came up short. As things turned out, the narrative is that Eberflus cost them a chance at a win. You never have that sequence if PI isn't called.
I hope the beginning of this video answer the question that Bears fans thought they know, Ryan Poles did not hire Matt Eberflus. yes he kept him but that was clearly a George McCaskey call to keep Flus.
This is not true at all…Ryan poles has said SEVERAL times that Eberflus is his guy. He doubled down again this past offseason. Not only did he retain him, he confidently and arrogantly laughed when asked if he contacted anyone else. This is “king poles” mistake
Let’s see how the bears will finally get it right like they said they would for the last 50 years. The bears will bears as always until ownership sells ( which will never happen)
Fields was never the problem. In fact he has a winning record and is going to the playoffs. By your flawed logic it's Williams fault he can't when regardless of the HC shitting the bed. Because he's a generational talent, right? Maybe he shouldn't be giving up all those sacks.
@carlousmagus5387 fields got benched. You know why? He can't throw tds. It's year 4 for fields and he's still doing the same crap. Caleb has played 6 games. We'll see what he's doing in year 4. Generational or sitting on the bench like Justin

not a Bears fan but my jaw practically dropped at the last game clip, because I really thought that Detroit was this close to allowing overtime with the Bears nearly being in range with like, maybe a quick screen or two imagine my shock
I forgot about the abysmal Tampa pick-six from 2 yards out amongst all the grotesque itinerations of Bear 'offense' I've lived through - only due to it's routine familiarity year after year, coach after coach....numb.
5:32 is really when I started to not like Flus anymore. They had so many chances to win that game and he kept punting, I think there was a moment where it was 4th and 4, and Fields was moving that game, the offense was getting ready to stay on the field and even the fans wanted to go for it, and for some reason Flus decided to take the ball out of his QBs hands in those last 2 drives. They punted that possession. They didn’t get the ball back at the end of that game for a while. Just like Flus always does, he loses the time possession in the 2nd half of games. I’m so glad he’s gone. Need to hire Ben Johnson
That was sad to watch I was saying before that Flus should have been gone after the HAIL MARY I take it back to the Denver game last year that was sick. If Fields had stayed with Flus still with the Bears he might have quit the game doing good in Pitt. Hope things get better for the Bears the rest of the way
I think Eberflus was fired for his comments regarding the clock mismanagement as much as anything else. That and it's obvious the players don't like him at all. Obviously he should have called a T/O when he saw his rookie QB was taking his sweet time out there. In situations like that - clock running down - they almost always have the next 2 plays called so they COULD get right up to the line, set and snap it. Why isn't the QB being criticized for not calling a TO either when he realized they weren't going to get this play off? When the clock hit 8-10 seconds - QB should have called a T/O. Instead, he lolly gags around until there are 3-4 seconds left and has no choice but to heave a pass that will never work.
I truly believe Poles hired Flus as part of his successful tanking strategy. Flus over Caldwell and Quinn who was only interviewed by the bears? Only way it makes sense
