Everyone is blaming Eberflus, and he definitely deserves blame. But Caleb Williams absolutely butchered that sequence too. The fact that he's a rookie shouldn't give him a pass for acting like he had all the time in the world on that final play.
Sure, Caleb needs to be more aware and run the play faster. Nonetheless, this is 100% on Eberflus. By the time that clock dips below 10 seconds without the ball being snapped it is on him to call a TO.

This is a sign of a coach who doesn’t know how to manage the clock. This was far worse than the Hail Mary play, or the blocked field goal. Eberflus better not travel back to Chicago, because he’s a coach that doesn’t have the bones to win games
I know Caleb is a rookie, but part of that is on him, too - he's played football long enough to be aware of the game clock, and he was the one who took 26 seconds to snap the ball. Eberflus should have saved him from himself there, and didn't - that was coaching malpractice - but there was a heaping side dish of QB malpractice to go with it.
@@AI-Communications Caleb did the best thing he could have done with the clock hitting zero, try to extend the game with a defensive penalty to allow for a FG with 0 seconds on the clock but receiver couldn’t draw the PI

I was watching the game with my dad. He was kinda in and out watching but when Williams got sacked, I was like, call a timeout or at least hurry up, get a play off and then call a time out but they just kept on letting seconds tick off. When the final throw was incomplete and the game ended, I just sat there. My dad finally looked up and we started dissecting what the Bears should have done. I couldn’t believe the Bears did that. That coach deserved to be fired. He was wasting Williams talent. I hope whoever they get next learns clock mgmt
As much as the blame needs and has fallen on the coach, don't ignore the stupidity of the QB and the entire offense...to say nothing of the OC or any of the other coaches. Didn't seem like anyone had a clue about the clock. The love affair with first round QBs that have no business being on the field so early never ceases to amaze me. And yet the chant will be at least Chicago can draft a QB! Definition of insanity.
Here is my take after being surprised they got back in it all. I dont think they wanted to chance it and lose in OT at all. ME had a range limiter on that kicker to maybe 45yds. He wanted a quick play (obviously) and wanted that 🏉 in hands and feet of CW and to do what GS of the Hawks did to us running 50 meters in 2 plays to win and effectively ending the season for 49ers.(It is a math deal if we won division outright.) If by some well done physical execution and executive HC functionality they actually got a FG made I doubt that group could take to 0. Goff gets 1 play maybe but the DL's are prone to player and coach blunders themselves. Bottom line they faded, were losing ad dollars and new season ticket holder opportunities and renewals. ME got skiddish after having Justin Fields not be Cam Newton last year and let CW run a chaotic rain low light end game hope they get 6 to walk off a winner. Justin Fields took off and won a couple of games doing that but did not develop and ME decided we all in with CW. 😢😢
matt eberflus has got to go that was some absolutely abysmal time management at the end. losing a bunch of one possession games is a hallmark of a bad coach
That may be true... but today was not a good example of that. This was more of a case of them blowing the whole 2nd half and handing the Bears the W and the Bears just refused to take it. Lions are going to need to up their game to be a Superbowl contender.
After the sack I looked away and started talking to my dad thinking they would call a timeout, then I looked back, and they were passing it as time expired. I was so confused on what happened.
I am a Lions fan so I will take the W, but the Lions did not win this game! They had a great first half, but the Bears made the adjustments they needed to at half time to get back in the game. Like many games this season the Bears found a way to loose!
I don’t see how this is on the coach. He took a sack then took too long to line up. QB and team screwed it up. In the moment, coach didn’t know it would take so long to get back, if he called a timeout halfway in between, wouldn’t be much better.
@BigPat216 it's not called "taking a sack" when the defender is untouched off the edge. It's called "a sack", and the only logical reaction is a timeout. Eberflus froze and needs fired. If you disagree with Bill Cowher, JJ Watt, and myself, then that's on you.
That was absolutely the worst clock management I’ve ever seen in my life! Eberflus should be fired immediately and not even allowed on the team plane after that! That’s inexcusable!

Eberflus said, "Let's not call a timeout to at least tie the game." #smh
I wonder if the announcers will ever get bored of calling scripted football games

He always has that face after every loss
He makes that face all the time. It's more like. Will they at least fire me after this? I wanna go home.
That's okay, he probably made money on the Lions win, he'll be alright

They showed that "pass interference" on 4th & 14 Twice - Without actually showing the supposed penalty. They cut away on Both replays... I wonder why..
I watched it also,i was stunned as most were at the lack of urgency from the Bares..coach was DMW till Friday..he would be relieved of his coaching duties..🙈
Lions needed more TDs in the first half and fewer field goals. None of this should've been an issue.
Yup

The clock management by the Bears was beyond atrocious. How many of you were yelling for the timeout???
As a Lions fan, I was even calling for a timeout 😂
Me
As a Lions fan I was sitting there going,"WTF are they doing?!?!"
We're not Bears fans, but we were all yelling at the TV for the Bears to call timeout. Should have been called immediately after the sack. If they were trying to save the timeout, then line up quick and spike it.
@@alberttang6955would have been 4th and long with the spike.
As a lions fan, I’m disappointed in the whole 2nd half performance. That was pitiful. I’m thankful we won, but I’m not happy with it. Finally we get a win on thanksgiving, but a terrible choke job. The curse is somewhat gone but almost showed up again. If it wasn’t for the terrible time management at the end of the game, we might have lost. Good game to the bears. Y’all played a great 2nd half.
I’d be more upset at your strength and conditioning team
Agreed! That was getting atrocious to watch. And they need to trade Jamison Williams after the season.
@@technomage6736trade him are you crazy? Give a boy a chance to grow
@technomage6736 why?
Thanksgiving day Lions were bound to rear their heads and they did in the second half, y'all are still a consistent team.
The bears just said "you know what, lets lose"
10:04 when did Dak comeback from injury and get traded to Chicago 😂
Everyone is blaming Eberflus, and he definitely deserves blame. But Caleb Williams absolutely butchered that sequence too. The fact that he's a rookie shouldn't give him a pass for acting like he had all the time in the world on that final play.
He holds on to the ball forever, it’s why the patriots who have almost no pass rush sacked him 9 times.
Oh for absolutely sure! I blame at least 10 full seconds on his unawareness.
He overrode the playcall too. Maybe they lose yardage regardless, but the original playcall wouldn't have drained the clock out
He should've called the time out tho lol he saw what was going on and just watched it unfold while sitting on a game tying time out smh
Yes he does get a pass for being a rookie you drangus.

Bad management by the coach obviously but I’ve never seen a more horrendous lack of awareness from a QB in a situation like that.
If they didn’t have a time-out I’d agree with you. A good coach would bail him out.
@@WaakikiTheGoat He was disoriented from getting sacked, that's why the coach should've called timeout.
Sure, Caleb needs to be more aware and run the play faster. Nonetheless, this is 100% on Eberflus. By the time that clock dips below 10 seconds without the ball being snapped it is on him to call a TO.
But but but he's going to be the best ever, dontcha know.
luckily that timeout will rollover to the next game
Script writers won't let the Lions lose... They'll wait until it's against the Magical Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. Whom have yet to have a holding call in 3 straight Superbowl appearances.... Bahahahah yeah you read that correctly... Stop betting your hard earned money on these fixed outcomes.

Matt Eberflus getting fired tomorrow is all but guaranteed to me. This is unacceptable. So incompetent.
watch the mccaskeys keep him until the end of the season, and then sign him to a multiyear extension 😆 that would be funny!
@kaphizmey6229 "A loss on a Hail Mary, awful clock management resulting in a blocked FG by the Packers, pulling off a miracle comeback but falling short in OT against the Vikings, and awful clock management and not using your final timeout against the Lions, you know what that leads to Matt? Case Title: Ronald Hill vs. Chicago Bears Organization
Filed In: Circuit Court of Cook County
Complaint:
The Plaintiff, Ronald Hill, a lifelong Chicago Bears fan, brings this action against the Chicago Bears Organization for sustained emotional distress, citing gross negligence, consistent underperformance, and willful disregard for fan well-being.
This is a sign of a coach who doesn’t know how to manage the clock. This was far worse than the Hail Mary play, or the blocked field goal. Eberflus better not travel back to Chicago, because he’s a coach that doesn’t have the bones to win games
He has the bones of a vgina though cause he’s a pusy
I know Caleb is a rookie, but part of that is on him, too - he's played football long enough to be aware of the game clock, and he was the one who took 26 seconds to snap the ball. Eberflus should have saved him from himself there, and didn't - that was coaching malpractice - but there was a heaping side dish of QB malpractice to go with it.
@@AI-Communications Caleb did the best thing he could have done with the clock hitting zero, try to extend the game with a defensive penalty to allow for a FG with 0 seconds on the clock but receiver couldn’t draw the PI
@@memebobs9011why not call your final timeout first?
@@memebobs9011 or... he could've snapped the ball 15 seconds earlier and this wouldn't even be an issue 😂 The game was ending and he was just standing there in the backfield doing absolutely nothing for an eternity. This was horrible awareness by both Williams and Eberflus, but especially poor judgement by Williams
That final 2:00 sums up the Bears season and the lack of game IQ of their staff and management.

Here is my take after being surprised they got back in it all. I dont think they wanted to chance it and lose in OT at all.
ME had a range limiter on that kicker to maybe 45yds. He wanted a quick play (obviously) and wanted that 🏉 in hands and feet of CW and to do what GS of the Hawks did to us running 50 meters in 2 plays to win and effectively ending the season for 49ers.(It is a math deal if we won division outright.)
If by some well done physical execution and executive HC functionality they actually got a FG made I doubt that group could take to 0. 😢😢
The head coach let the rookie run the show, and both panic, and he was a deer in headlights.
matt eberflus has got to go that was some absolutely abysmal time management at the end. losing a bunch of one possession games is a hallmark of a bad coach
The Detroit Lions are no longer the " Cowardly Lions." They are Super Bowl contenders.
Not defending the coach but this was 100% on Caleb. Hike the ball!
CORRECT
INCORRECT
Can't hike the ball when your wrs aren't set.
I've been a Bears supporter for years, but this is too much. I can't deal with this organization anymore-the lack of professionalism is unbelievable.
That was absolutely the worst clock management I’ve ever seen in my life! Eberflus should be fired immediately and not even allowed on the team plane after that! That’s inexcusable!

The whole team quit after that sack. They have no heart and it starts at the top. Fire Eberflus stat!

I'm a diehard Lions fan, and that coaching from the Bears even pissed ME off at the end...
Dan Campbell himself was aware that circumstances were leading him to lose. And that's fine, Detroit is in a comfortable position and they can go more calmly, to recover from injuries for the Playoffs, but Chicago sabotaged themselves. That's why Dan doesn't look happy at the end of the game, but rather amazed, just like everyone else. Nobody understands what the hell happened to the Bears

@reaf5616 sounds like you didn't watch last game, he did the same thing. Took a sack running around for 12 seconds. Using "rookie QB" excuse 12 games in is ridiculous. This was both the QB and the coach's fault. This is what bears fans do all the time give excuses for poor or bad plays by their QB.
The bears literally had the lions by the tail and have it away!!! Head coach and qb need to be benched
For this game to end the way it did, and then for Eberflus to say in the post-game news conference, "I like what we did there" just shows he's daring Bear's ownership to fire him this weekend.
When you hear "Completely botched at the end by the Bears" on national television, you know your coaching days are numbered.
9:15 the moment we’ve all been waiting for 😂
That is Caleb Williams fault. If he would have gotten play off quicker could have called timeout. And why is he going for the end zone?
He had to wait for the receivers to come back to the line of scrimmage, that's what I'm thinking.
It kinda looked like the receivers were still scooting on the line for about 5 seconds before Caleb snapped it. Still, Caleb doing that whole motion was pretty dumb and he should have rushed his receivers to get set
