BRAVO SIR! How Excellent is your interpretation of this Marvelous Bach Favorite!. The tempo you have chosen was excellent for the acoustics of your church at Kampen, and we can easily hear all of the melodies and counter-melodies. Thank you for not 'rushing' through this musical 'Gem'
Beste Willem , Fabuleus gespeeld. Blijft in mijn hoofd hangen.
Yes you are right, but I love playing organ and not all famous composers have composed for organ. So.... I advocate transcriptions in a moderate way. I mean do not make a program with only transcriptions then you are on the wrong side of the organ literature because the organ literature is rich, very rich.
Hat off for the organist, the builder of this instrument, and last but not least composer J.S.Bach for this sublime piece of music, Willem; you are the only one of this trio still alive who can accept my sincere thanks for this performance!
@@twillertorganprojects It's a pleasure Willem; I'm sure Bach and all other composers who has left us can continue their extra-ordinary talents in heaven! Meanwhile, keep up your good work by playing their inherited works on that heavenly instrument: the pipe-organ you're playing so well!
I'm positive 90% or more of the Bach we hear these days is played too fast. Back then times were slower. Much, much slower. His music also speaks for itself - like you said.
Best interpretation I could ever find. Try Diane Bish version if you want to hear a disaster from hell 🤣 Not sure why it is allowed the composer might resurrect to stop it. Hehe
I’ve never heard this at this slower tempo. I can hear all the nuances. Most other versions are much faster, I like your interpretation best. Thank you so much
Bravo mijn heer, Bravo!
Definitely a "Like". The pace suits both building and the piece itself. How nice to hear the inner lines, not just a blur of notes rampaging through the building. Well done. Again it must have been difficult to reach the 4th manual and not have difficulty in pedaling - Well done.
It's been 9 years since my first comment. I cannot stop listening to BWV 29. In this performance the tempo is so perfectly matched with the acoustics of the church....it just gives the listener a silent song from the heart. I also like James Howard Young's interpretation using nothing but recorders, and of course the Netherlands Bach Society doing the entire cantata....I have to believe that JSB was not only the greatest composer of all time, but even the greatest who will ever live, short of God himself. Thank you again, Willem.
I am a 'bear of very slow brain' (to misquote A.A.Milne) and my head needs time to process all that is happening in this piece. While I also appreciate other versions (eg. D.Bish) I am grateful for the opportunity to absorb all the notes. I do not think I have ever heard this beautiful piece played quite so slowly.
I have no musical critique to make, except to say that I listen to this regularly and it at times makes me want to weep. I love your work and your channel. When I feel despair and loneliness, I listen to your music; and I am reminded--and I feel--that the Lord is always walking with me. (From one of your fans in North America)
Thank you for your compliments. I have translated your comments into English. You wrote: Beautiful piece, poetry in music. The organist to whom I commend is very good; the piece is pretty lively!!
Wilhelm, Bach truly set the standard of musical composition and still had influence in music of this day and age. The best composer of all time. When I write hymns, I do draw inspiration from Bach, occasionally using some of his short pieces of chorale compositions. Not just big works, mainly improvised from themes but the small short chorales is just as great. I wonder if he composed hymn tunes?
That's a nice comment. Thanks for being an amazing fan! I'm grateful you've enjoyed my music and content. Your support inspires me. Thank you also for your appreciation for Willem Stroman his work for video.
How about, "God". He is a genius to play like this, bringing Bach to us, like THIS !!! Only the rit.at the end felt wrong. But everyone post 19th cent does that, unfortunately.
Very grand! The tempo gives you space to do some very subtle and inspired interpretation! I have a question: why do you sit so far back? Given that you do not have overly long arms, I would think that having the seat closer to the keyboards would be helpful. But I notice that the pedals do not go very far under the keyboard, so I assume that may be the reason? Thanks so much for sharing this glorious music!
YEAH!!! You rock, sir!! The whole time, I was thinking, "Man, that looks so uncomfortable the way he has to lean over like that!" Thank you for enduring such discomfort for the benefit of your audience. ;-)

Hello again! Watching your video also helped me with a question I've always had about this and similar instruments: specifically the very large grid of stops that would be quite unmanageable for the organist. But, watching your registrant, I realized that the stop knobs were specifically designed to be easily accessible for one or two registrants. Thus, this style of console had, in effect, the first "fully programmable preset system--a human being!" Again, bravo!
Superb registration of stops combined with a nice tempo and good articulation, a perfect match for the acoustics of the building. You made this music come alive with your performance bringing out so much of its subtleties, especially in the pedal notes, that are all too often lost and muddled by playing too fast and by poor choice of stops. I am learning to play a transcription of this myself on the organ at the moment, you really inspired me. I really enjoyed your playing.

Heel mooi!
