I was tempted by this one. Same price as the new Rift Zone 2. I went RZ2 ultimately tho because I think it just makes more sense for my light trail riding
But the Alpine Trail 7 seems like a heck of a deal at that price if you want more travel
It’s definitely a tough choice, but I’m in agreement. I would also choose the RZ2. I do believe that on big mountain runs, the AT7 would be able to hang in there longer, but I just love a spritely trail bike so much. Lol.
@@JaredRMorgan BTW if you care... I upgraded some parts on my RZ2 right out of the box because I already had them.
Wolftooth dropper lever
Spank aluminum wheelset with maxxis tires - tubeless setup
Shimano XT cranks
SRAM Guide RSC brakes
SRAM rotors
PNW Range bars
Origin8 Stem
Ergon Grips
Weight without pedals right at 32 lbs. I'm actually super happy with that.
These bikes are amazing 🤩
Yeah mine kicks booty! I love it!
Jared! I can’t buy another bike! I went from the T7 to the T8 2 months ago. Great video. Read in comments you like the AT7 perhaps more than the T8? 😳
It just depends…T8 is extremely well rounded and a better climber than AT7. AT7 just hangs in there better with rowdy tech and big features. It’s definitely a bit of a toss up, but this time around I’m choosing the AT7 to try as my personal bike. Thanks for watching!
Always enjoy your content. What size is the T8 you’re riding? How much does it weight? Sorry.. I know this isn’t a T8 video. I’d like to try to get mine to 30lbs but is a size L and not trying to break the bank. Think that’s possible?
How would you compare this to the polygon siskiu t8? Which would be your go-to?
It’s funny you’d ask bc I have both bikes here and I’m torn between the two. Here’s how I feel: ultimately, the T8 is probably the bike I prefer to be on more. I ride MOSTLY trail type scenarios and features and the T8 really shines there. Especially when I have to pedal. BUT, the T8’s travel numbers do lead to it being overwhelmed in more gravity oriented runs. The AT7 is a better bike if you’re going to only have one bike while intending to run not only trail but some heavier duty enduro/gravity type stuff as well. I also think that the AT7 with some intelligent mods could outshine the T8.
Moral of the story: I’m basically met with this same decision in my own household right now, and it’s looking like I’ll be keeping the AT7. Hope this helps!
Haha yeah. I follow your videos hence I am aware you have both. I am currently on a 27.5 T8, and got an offer for the AT7. Judging from your comment, we are quite alike in terms of dilemma and local trails. I like the T8, but there are times I utilise the whole travel. Thanks bro. Keep riding!
Could this be a decent trail bike or would it just be too much for that kind of riding?
It's definitely a decent trail bike. Its limitations will be in tight corners and long climbs.
@@JaredRMorgan Good to know! How accurate do you think Marin's sizing recommendations are? I'm 185cm and on that weird L/XL cutoff.
Is it a UDH frame?
It is not.
BIKES ON LINE ? 😄
Yep that's me!
