@TrackSlayers I know I have fsd and when you have it enabled with navigation turned on you get one bar in the middle of the lane, not lane guide bars. Next time turn on fsd with navigation and keep your hands on the wheel.

I got this on my Nissan, and I’d highly recommend keeping ur hands on the wheel. It’s odd at first, having the car steer by itself, but you get to know each other pretty quick, and how we each behave, and get along. It’s saved my ass once for sure (no comment). Kinda like being married 😅
That’s because your using basic traffic aware cruise control and auto steer, which allows the car to keep a speed and distance from other cars and auto steer turns your wheel for curves and exits, but not sharp turns.

You are supposed to keep you hands on the wheel. Bumping it with your leg to fool it will bring bad results. Autopilot doesn't navigate. It goes down the road really well though.
@@MoTheNoob Sure "Autopilot" is the default Tesla driving assist system, basically lane keeping, cruise control and automatic emergency braking, not that advanced and hasn't really been updated for years. "FSD" Full Self Driving (still in beta) is the software that lets your car drive pretty much everywhere autonomously and is being updated constantly. Highway to city traffic, automatic lane change, traffic light detection etc. Rarely an input needed nowadays from the driver but, again, it's still beta and you have to pay attention at the times.
I despair for humanity. All these stupid gizmos on cars. And here I am driving a 17 year old Miata with 111,000 miles on the clock with no issues. At least I get to be the driver of my car and not the other way around.

There’s nothing wrong with the product, just do it responsibly. It’s not for everyone nor does it come in every Tesla. Also some people have chronic pain or disabilities but can still drive, this helps them probably more than anyone else.

Like everyone else is saying, Driver error. You told the car to “turn left” like it can read your mind on exactly where to turn. It’s clear FSD was not enabled and you even stated so. Sure autopilot makes occasional mistakes. But this is critiquing something that was driver error.
You should still have your hands on the steering wheel during Tesla's "Autopilot". The car checks this at regular intervals. The system is also still in the beta phase. So the failure here lies more with the driver than with the car.

Autopilot and FSD are massively different. Once Highway driving is brought into FSD you won’t have this problem. Just don’t use Autopilot unless it’s keeping lanes on a highway…
Tesla autopilot is still technically in beta which is why Tesla always recommends that drivers keep their hands close to the wheel and be prepared to take over at any time.

You're using it incorrectly. You should have your hands on the yoke in case it disengages like it does so you can intervene. Edit: You also cannot use AP on city traffic, it's just basic autopilot not FSD.
No, I’m betting other manufacturers will. Before 2020s I always thought that Tesla was amazing and luxurious but then I saw an uproar of new manufacturers tinkering with electric cars and now Tesla looks like the Honda of gasolines. Tesla jumpstarted the electric age of automotive transportation, but it won’t be the best there is. I’d pick a Rivian or Hummer over a Tesla. Hell, even an EQS. Tesla did it’s job jumpstarting electric cars, now others will become kings.

You haven't tried autopilot. I have one, and love it. TrackSlayers was using it incorrectly, he wanted it to go left when it was going straight. However if he had FSD(Full Self Driving) he would not have needed to be worried.

I drove a Tesla Model X once, and I got to play with the cruise control. Didn’t have FSD but it does have different levels of cruise control. First level is just basic adaptive cruise. Second level if you tap the button twice on the steering wheel gets you pretty much self driving with the most amazing lane keep assist I’ve ever experienced that safely changes lanes with the signal and I counted 2 minutes between each time it tells me to put my hands on the wheel. Then you can go an extra step further and set your destination in the GPS and tap an icon on the GPS that makes it automatically take exits. This is what they probably have active. That exit within an exit probably confused it, idk, I had a hard time getting the nerve to fully trust it when I drove but when I drove, it did signal before approaching the exit reassuring me it knows to take this exit and it did it flawlessly. So I guess that’s a good way to know if it’s gonna exit like it should or not.
This is auto steer, however FSD will not work in heavy rain, often will not work in light rain, dark, fog. Where you have low visibility so does it. It's a fair weather application and even then it's unsafe to take your hands off of the wheel. Tesla explains this to purchasers so I don't know why people keep insisting it's out of beta.
2/29/24 Still my MAIN CONCERN with FSDb V11, the dangerous unwillingness to acknowledge indecision to alert drivers to take over or it WILL "split" the paths & barrel straight into the groins. #2 It sets the path ahead speed WAAAY too high (using adjacent road posted speeds) when approaching parking scenarios. That is why when I enable my model Y Auto Pilot in the menu settings, they refer to it as a beta. Never fully trust your Basic Auto Pilot. It is nice, but always be 100 percent alert to take over. Auto Pilot just follows one lane it is in and if the lane is marked. It is not even close to what FSD does. Thanks for this video example.
I guess it would've just recalculates it's route after missing the turn or just alarming for manual operation perhaps after pulling over... It's quite likely that it was about to miss the turn because of dampening to prevent aggressive actions. It was said that the early in house experiments resulted in death defying rides due to how aggressive the AI was... Hopefully that offramp will get mapped into the corporate database if enough Tesla FSD's have to be manually corrected there.

I think you mean “Full Self Driving” (FSD) is in Beta. Autopilot is not, although Tesla may update it periodically with over the air updates.

You're using it incorrectly. You should have your hands on the yoke in case it disengages like it does so you can intervene.
Edit: You also cannot use AP on city traffic, it's just basic autopilot not FSD.

No, I’m betting other manufacturers will. Before 2020s I always thought that Tesla was amazing and luxurious but then I saw an uproar of new manufacturers tinkering with electric cars and now Tesla looks like the Honda of gasolines. Tesla jumpstarted the electric age of automotive transportation, but it won’t be the best there is. I’d pick a Rivian or Hummer over a Tesla. Hell, even an EQS. Tesla did it’s job jumpstarting electric cars, now others will become kings.

Fantastic test! As an experienced fsd/ autopilot driver. Do u not see (vocal commands) or slight inputs or gestures, into the controls being introduced into later versions. Ive noticed most vocalize thier intent in time, if FSD new to listen.

Potentially without any warning from the system. These factors make Level 2 autopilot even more challenging for safe driving than no autopilot at all. Because it's like being a driving instructor while a student without a license is driving the car. And it's visible on accidents statistics. Some insurance companies already gathered enough data and according to the published stats currently accidents rate for Tesla cars is significantly higher than average. People trust the autopilot too much and I partially blame marketing for it

Yo honestly if brakes are the deal breaker - don’t let it stop you, I push the car hard and out of the 15k miles I have on my plaid since January, the first week I received the car I had one close call. It’s not so much the brakes as it is the power 😂 but you get used to it and learn when and where to use it. It’s so much different from all my other cars

You haven't tried autopilot. I have one, and love it. TrackSlayers was using it incorrectly, he wanted it to go left when it was going straight. However if he had FSD(Full Self Driving) he would not have needed to be worried.

I drove a Tesla Model X once, and I got to play with the cruise control. Didn’t have FSD but it does have different levels of cruise control. First level is just basic adaptive cruise. Second level if you tap the button twice on the steering wheel gets you pretty much self driving with the most amazing lane keep assist I’ve ever experienced that safely changes lanes with the signal and I counted 2 minutes between each time it tells me to put my hands on the wheel. Then you can go an extra step further and set your destination in the GPS and tap an icon on the GPS that makes it automatically take exits. This is what they probably have active. That exit within an exit probably confused it, idk, I had a hard time getting the nerve to fully trust it when I drove but when I drove, it did signal before approaching the exit reassuring me it knows to take this exit and it did it flawlessly. So I guess that’s a good way to know if it’s gonna exit like it should or not.
This is auto steer, however FSD will not work in heavy rain, often will not work in light rain, dark, fog. Where you have low visibility so does it. It's a fair weather application and even then it's unsafe to take your hands off of the wheel. Tesla explains this to purchasers so I don't know why people keep insisting it's out of beta.

2/29/24 Still my MAIN CONCERN with FSDb V11, the dangerous unwillingness to acknowledge indecision to alert drivers to take over or it WILL "split" the paths & barrel straight into the groins. #2 It sets the path ahead speed WAAAY too high (using adjacent road posted speeds) when approaching parking scenarios. (From Jun '23) So old! So way improved with almost weekly versions. Ignore the haters/uninformed.

That is why when I enable my model Y Auto Pilot in the menu settings, they refer to it as a beta. Never fully trust your Basic Auto Pilot. It is nice, but always be 100 percent alert to take over.
Auto Pilot just follows one lane it is in and if the lane is marked. It is not even close to what FSD does.

I guess it would've just recalculates it's route after missing the turn or just alarming for manual operation perhaps after pulling over...
It's quite likely that it was about to miss the turn because of dampening to prevent aggressive actions. It was said that the early in house experiments resulted in death defying rides due to how aggressive the AI was... Hopefully that offramp will get mapped into the corporate database if enough Tesla FSD's have to be manually corrected there.
