  • In this how to video we try to explain how we setup and use our laser lever to measure, grade and dig. We also show how we mount a magnetic receiver on the excavator or backhoe boom for setting level or pitch grade work. This is our setup for drainage, grading and concrete paver work. Thank you for watching.

    Hi
    There is an easier and faster way to set up the laser, you know that the laser is level after you turned it on so for example you want it to fall 1cm per meter you measure a 5m distance from your laser and put your receiver at zero there then move it down 5 cm from your zero if you want it to fall that way, then push the down slope Button until its find zero on your reciver, now you know the slope is 1cm per meter without having to do adjustment to the ground.
    Then you dig down to the preferd begining hight beside your laser and set your reciver at zero there and dig in the direktion you have set up your slope at.

    Hi, what about factoring in topsoil after? Do you drop all your measurements at least an inch to accommodate the extra dirt? Or doesn't matter? Also I run a Kubota kx-80 with ditching bucket with the tilting head. Highly recommend that for your machine especially for cutting a swale.

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your comment and for watching our video. The soil there was very good so I didn’t need to add any top soil. I’ve thought about the tilt bucket but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I’m pretty quick with the 6x6 timber. Thanks again, Tom

  • @seedlingsgardening6162
    @seedlingsgardening6162 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you need to have the laser set up at one end or the other to get an accurate reading? I'm wondering more for if you do the measuring by hand. Thanks

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Seedlings Gardening, The laser is accurate and level no matter where it is. If you are doing slopes then it has to be set parallel to your trench. The majority of the time I set up the laser and then work away from it, but sometimes it's more convenient to work towards the laser. It works the same either way. I will measure lengths by measuring wheel, but all the depth work it measured with the laser. I hope I answered your question. Please respond back if I didn't. Thanks again, Tom

      Thank you Raul. I bought my machine with the thumb on it. The dealer spec’d it out. I didn’t get any paperwork on it. I see the same thumb on u17s too. I’ve also rented in the past and those machines had the same thumb. You might contact amulet or you local kubota dealer. • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Henry, Yes. We dug down to -5-1/2 on the far hole. Then we set the receiver back to -1 which is the depth of the first hole. We then slope the laser down to the receiver set to -1 in the far hole. That gives us a laser line that goes from -1 to -5-1/2. I hope I explained it better, Tom

      @@tyelandscapinganddrainage thanks Tom. Would there be a slight inaccuracy by setting the laser up a small horizontal distance away from your first point? Because you would want to set the zero position beside the laser I would think.

      I’ve tried other methods, but this way always works and it’s very accurate. It does take longer to set up. The new lasers can be set to a slope percentage by just pressing a button which would save a lot of time. Have a great day, Tom
