Sounds like the informal type of teaching at Nimbin Valley here in Queensland. The antithesis of my formal state school education during the 80's with the endless drills and tables. Cool.
Steiner is a German man, and a lot of schools in Australia are named/themed after him. They're alternative schools, no uniform and "different" teaching methods are used. Most are K-12. They're amazing, the one near Mullumbimby (northern NSW) is so earthy and beautiful. It has a waterfall/stream running through the middle of the actual school. See? Different.
