Wow. When it started, I wasn't sure how I felt about this new approach he's doing, going more for conventional-sounding songs, but then as it built, it blew my mind. Trevor is incredible.
This is so beautiful and poetic. It really breaks down the emotional wall for me. I'm so grateful for another song for me to escape into when life becomes too much to handle, and a video that really makes me think. Thank you Trevor.
I still find myself coming back to this during hard times year after year with a new meaning to the video each time. Today it seems as if his friend is really just inside of his mind and the world isn’t really interacting with his figure of imagination it’s just a manifestation of what he wishes would happen Like the hi five scene.
Essa música é a prova de que esse cara é do caralho! Provavelmente esse vai ser o terceiro álbum que eu vou ouvir por 4 meses no "repeat" sem pausar! 👌🏽
So glad to say i got to see youth lagoon live a few days ago and the demise of youth lagoon has been greatly exaggerated (by trevor himself). I got to ask him a few Qs about how he felt about the death and revival of the moniker and i’m glad to say that he’s much more happy and healthy about it these days ^^
I’ve been coming back to this music video since I was 19 (I’m 27 now). It’ll always touch me and helped me feel less lonely as a teen (it still does lol). I love the dancing scene too, ugh! Perfection
I picked up Savage Hills Ballroom because I heard YL was good. So so glad I did. It blew me away. Gotta get the new one and the previous 2 albums (he did an album under his own name, Trevor Powers too) ❤
My buddy is the masked man in this awesome music video!! He wrote: "It was such an honor to be a part of that production, and it helped me to heal as well, because I hadn't been to New York City since the WTC towers had collapsed and I went with my military unit to do search and rescue after the buildings came down. Years later, visiting the city and seeing all the changes really helped me get past the trauma of experiencing the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks."
Beautifully captures this sound. The album is definitely on repeat for me. He does look hella fun to hang out with. Gotta show me those dance moves Trevor >_~
Wish I saw YL before it ended. Trevor grew so fast musically. Its really crazy to think about. He's moving on. Hopefully he masters another craft soon. ❤️
I am in such two minds about Youth Lagoon. It's like in my top 3 favourites. This guy is freakin amazing. I then saw him live in Belgium and he didn't say anything and only played like 4 songs and then left the stage. Maybe that's part of his act? I was just so freakin excited to finally see him and then it was quite a letdown. Music's still amazing though.
He's an introverted guy, most of his first album was focused about this, and he probably has a lot of stage fright. It's shit when really cool artists are held back by introversion. The psych-pop band XTC, who've been really prominent pretty much since they began in the 70's, rarely, if ever, play gigs because of the lead singers crippling stage fright :/
I found a song similar to this song last year and now that I've finally heard this song , it reminded me of another beautiful song like this that reminded me of this. It was a female vocalist and as much as I can remember , starts off as " We were " unfortunately that's as much as I can remember the song , if anyone knows what I'm talking about . Can you please help me cause it's already been 2 months trying to search for that song
+TheMoffatron Thank you for that comment. I read comments first so I was going into it thinking "wtf" but laughed when that scene came. Great song, definitely.
+TheMoffatron I think she makes a good point. Who gives a shit if someone uses bumpers? Like, seriously. Why is that of any value at all. Why is that worth ridiculing?
+Caprise Adams Does Yup that's me, they call me the "bumper bully". I go around from bowling alley to bowling alley and just ridicule people for using bumpers. Better watch out...
Possessed by something in the wind They watch me like I'm a threat to them With implants deep below their skin They laugh cause some refuse a pin Sounds like a riot choking the highway With stun guns, smoke, and sirens on display Remember when no one danced the same We all had a voice We had a name We're gold that's as bright as hell's own flame Forgive me, for I have lost my way Sounds like a riot choking the highway With stun guns, smoke, and sirens on display Sounds like a riot choking the highway With stun guns, smoke, and sirens on display Dripping in blood, waiting for your return In repetition hall of the nocturne Where we're going to, you can't bring all your worth Oh raise me up, oh raise me from the dirt Each second is a high point of concern Where we're going to, you can't bring all your worth
He has a vibe that I wish I saw in more people. Trevor just seems so friendly, but if you watch the Take Away Show, people were so standoffish to him. I'd love to hang out with this guy
"Remember when no one danced the same, we all had a voice - we had a name" - this line gets me EVERYTIME.
Gilbert Aguilar 1:26
Great line
Holy shit, if the whole album is like this the headphones are never coming off.
yesss
+JordyLem right!?
+JordyLem i love jew guys.
+Scout Hays *you
+Scout Hays *both
5/14/24 - still amazing today.
Wow. When it started, I wasn't sure how I felt about this new approach he's doing, going more for conventional-sounding songs, but then as it built, it blew my mind. Trevor is incredible.
Mykel Montes Have you heard "The Knower" yet? Its another song he's released from this album and its anything but conventional.
Yeah I listened to it. Definitely more unconventional than this.
Mykel Montes I think they're both fucking rad.
i still can't put into words what it is about his music that is so compelling.
This song gets me very deeply
This is so beautiful and poetic. It really breaks down the emotional wall for me. I'm so grateful for another song for me to escape into when life becomes too much to handle, and a video that really makes me think.
Thank you Trevor.
Wow! Very different from his usual sound - but a welcome and beautiful addition to his already amazing work. Love it.
I still find myself coming back to this during hard times year after year with a new meaning to the video each time. Today it seems as if his friend is really just inside of his mind and the world isn’t really interacting with his figure of imagination it’s just a manifestation of what he wishes would happen Like the hi five scene.
My new jam. I can't believe how much this song is beautiful. Just perfect.
I held my 3 year old son Ezra today and we danced to this song. It will be a good memory !!! Thank you
My man Trevor is on 🔥
Good stuff!
Essa música é a prova de que esse cara é do caralho! Provavelmente esse vai ser o terceiro álbum que eu vou ouvir por 4 meses no "repeat" sem pausar! 👌🏽

This is amazingly beautiful, and if you get a chance, read up on Trevor's thoughts from The Fader! Very insightful.
Matt Kingsley Link?

You're a legend. Can't wait to see you live!
I’ve been coming back to this music video since I was 19 (I’m 27 now). It’ll always touch me and helped me feel less lonely as a teen (it still does lol). I love the dancing scene too, ugh! Perfection
damn this is a great song
Another awesome song Trevor! Really looking forward to see you here in Belgium!
Linda música, marcou uma época muito boa da minha vida.
Does youth lagoon still produce music?
Cause nobody got that sound that he got.
Yes! He's doing a solo project now under the name Trevor Powers. It's quite a bit different than YL, but still has the 'Trevor' feel
AHHH FINALLY A NEW ALBUM FROM MY FAVOURITE!!! THANKS!!!!! :))):):):):)
still my all-time favorite song from the project, and I have yet to hear a song like it, or one that makes me feel the way this one does.
So beautiful and thoughtful. Can't wait for the new album!!!
I couldn't be more on board with every step Trevor takes musically. This album can't come out soon enough!
I picked up Savage Hills Ballroom because I heard YL was good. So so glad I did. It blew me away. Gotta get the new one and the previous 2 albums (he did an album under his own name, Trevor Powers too) ❤

My buddy is the masked man in this awesome music video!! He wrote:

Beautiful story but your friend’s full of dogshit. The man in the mask is my brother-in-law who was 11 yrs old on September 11, 2001.
Beautiful
Flaked !
Yes! I love the show and its soundtrack, wish they would have done a season 3.
Beautifully captures this sound. The album is definitely on repeat for me. He does look hella fun to hang out with. Gotta show me those dance moves Trevor >_~

Great song! But bowling with bumpers? C'mon, man
+TheMoffatron Thank you for that comment. I read comments first so I was going into it thinking "wtf" but laughed when that scene came.
Great song, definitely.
+TheMoffatron The point is that his friend had limitations. Maybe go read some poetry instead of propagating macho bullying.
+Elizabeth Intuitive Fish I really hope you're not being serious
+TheMoffatron I think she makes a good point. Who gives a shit if someone uses bumpers? Like, seriously. Why is that of any value at all. Why is that worth ridiculing?

I hear so much early Now Now in this😳 Seriously.. like, do you know Cacie Dalager??
Possessed by something in the wind
They watch me like I'm a threat to them
With implants deep below their skin
They laugh cause some refuse a pin
Sounds like a riot choking the highway
With stun guns, smoke, and sirens on display
Remember when no one danced the same
We all had a voice
We had a name
We're gold that's as bright as hell's own flame
Forgive me, for I have lost my way
Sounds like a riot choking the highway
With stun guns, smoke, and sirens on display
Sounds like a riot choking the highway
With stun guns, smoke, and sirens on display
Dripping in blood, waiting for your return
In repetition hall of the nocturne
Where we're going to, you can't bring all your worth
Oh raise me up, oh raise me from the dirt
Each second is a high point of concern
Where we're going to, you can't bring all your worth
This guy is just a genius!
