If everything is 'empty' (shunya) then are we supposed to believe that there is nothing whose essence is existence? If there is nothing that possesses aseity then I cannot see how anything could arise at all.

That is what appeared. Most important is not the melody or pitch, but how you keep your mind right now in this very moment.

In Kundalini Yoga we study how the movement of the tongue stimulates an upper palate series of 84 meridian points which causes an energy awakening and which also stimulates the pituitary gland (related to "3rd eye") to secrete hormone causing a chemically/hormonally based change in awareness. My interpretation of Jesse's statement was that he was referring to the words themselves, rather than the actual practice, which seems to be what you are implying. Based on the specific focuses of study he mentioned, I believe he is stating that his understanding of the term "emptiness" in particular became more clear to him through his academic endeavors. If my understanding of this term aligns in any way with his, "emptiness" can not only be explained through spiritual means, but also logical and physical.. Or possibly metaphysical. It's not the easiest concept to articulate but.. The best example I can come up with is.. As mere matter in this cosmic universe, we are no different from any animal... A tree... or a rock. We are nothing more than the summation of a multitude of atoms. The only difference between us and a rock is that.. The atoms have been structured in such a way that we think we can tell the difference between ourselves and a rock. But in reality, there is no actual difference. We are nothing. The universe is nothing. It is emptiness. This is a very poor explanation but it's personally the best way I can begin to understand this difficult concept...

When we live in the moment, we are present. When we try to stay in the moment, present becomes the pass, a burden of the pass. To escape from the pass burden, we look forward to present. Keeping up with present, aroused our desire for the future. In anyway, we are not living in the moment, either a moment lag, or a moment ahead. Present is a continuity of “moment by moment”. Present is a current, while life is an ocean. To live “moment by moment” in full and to leave “moment by moment” empty is the wisdom of Heart Sutra.
@shtookatz Exactly so. In order for Buddhism to flower in the West, all of the chanted Sutras must be translated into our languages so that they can be understood by even the most uneducated. The same was done as it traveled from India into the East.
This instrument is called wooden fish. I only know how to chant Great bright mantra,Great compassion mantra and Heart sutra. After chanting,u should able to felt peace. Try to practice to be vegetarian on certain day,like for me i use to eat vegetarian on morning(recess) to evening(lunch or light snacks) but my dinner is like 2 vegetable and 1 meat. People taught i pray to them or what but it s not,i am cleaning away my bad sins :]

No eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, no body, no mind; no color, no sound, no smell, no taste, no touch, no object of mind; no realm of eyes and so forth until no realm of mind consciousness. No ignorance and also no extinction of it, and so forth until no old age and death and also no extinction of them. No suffering, no origination, no stopping, no path, no cognition, also no attainment with nothing to attain. The Bodhisattva depends on Prajna Paramita and the mind is no hindrance; without any hindrance no fears exist. Far apart from every perverted view one dwells in Nirvana. In the three worlds all Buddhas depend on Prajna Paramita and attain Anuttara Samyak Sambodhi. @puffydcat As a Buddhist myself, I have never done or seen that before. As I know so far, no other Buddhism sect does that, only Tibetan Buddhism. I guess that's just a Tibetan culture and they combine it together with the religion which then turns to be a unique way of chanting or something like that.

First of all, thank you very much for this!! I wonder though why all on TH-cam seem to be chanting with the instrument. The first couple times I listened I honestly could not understand. I had to go to another video and yes I saw the words but still. I came back yo say thank you and ask if you could make a version with pure speech as I fear some others may not wish to listen so many times if they are new such as I was. I would do it myself but I feel people will respect it more from you. And this is nothing negative towards you, even the other versions people around me could not understand. I totally love the chanting versions now so again nothing negative. Thank you again

Answering Rolopofo, It's Japanese name is 'mokugyo' , which literally means a wooden fish because it's originally shaped like fish. It is used for adjusting rhythm when chanting sutra.
No big effect in english words and language because the „mantric magic“ will only work in the original composed language. It’s good when you read it for you in english so you understand what you are saying.

Buddhism is metaphysics. You go quantum everything is infinity. Universes contained in universes. It's everything born from nothing.

And where can we find them in the states? I want to start a zen center here and I need one, even if it is just small. I like the one Jason is using.

Pronunciation and the meaning of the chants are not as important than chanting to return to your true self.

In our tradition, the chanting is accompanied by the moktok (instrument). If the recording was professional then the chanting would be more clear.

This means perceiving the suffering of the world. When we truly perceive the suffering of the word, we have to respond to it.

But when i hear again he really chant it in english word n have da same meaning with sanskrit
