That was a lot of fun, I never did Xnet before, because I felt overwhelmed, but this time it went perfectly, thanks Dire, maybe this old guy can learn a thing, maybe
On 1.12 packs, because of how many and how mature most of the mods are, there are a lot of easier ways to do what XNet does so I always tend to overlook it. But when I started playing early 1.15 packs like a year ago, Xnet is one of the few mods that were updated pretty early, so I was kind of "forced" to try it. Now I've been incorporating Xnet more and more onto my builds. Thanks for the episode Dire, I enjoyed it! Looking forward to the next one. :D
So speaking as one playing this pack and seed along with you, I currently have applied energistics setup and would not recommend. It's buggy and the tools we're all used to in 1.12 are not strictly available in straight AE2 so there's a learning curve. I finally figured out automating inscribers (straight AE2 inscribers are side dependent) and then my crafting chandelier stopped working sooo... tired of messing with it, switching to refined storage.
Damn, so AE2 Stuff isn't updated? That sucks. I never understood the logic behind making a mod that's all about automation and then not adding the required tools (like advanced inscribers or the wireless crafting grid) by default. I prefer ae2 over RS anyday, it feels like a way more mature mod but it sucks if what you say is the case
I was playing on 1.16 some time ago and I just could not find all the presses for inscribers and my world size was getting pretty large, so I decided i'll do Refined Storage
XNet is hands down the best logistics mod ever made. The ease, the degree of control, the minimal mess, the option to dictate which spots in the container get extracted... It's everything I've ever wanted! Try automating Crystal Binder from NC with it, it's 4 connectors and 1 controller, done in 5 minutes. Tremendous!
Dunno if you already noticed, but u got heavy oil into the tank cause u left auto-eject enabled on a machine If the tank goes empty another liquid could fill it up and block everything
you even read the part in the modular routers book where it said "single fluid buffer". but that said, wasn't there a thing where you can get those machine outputs to have different colors after installing an upgrade or something?
yes you could do this complex set up, or remove a fractioning still and process both heavy and light in one, the result is a buffer will fill, then the machine should swap to the other oil when it runs out. now you can just push the fluid down the line and only have to deal with items and power
7:52 I would guess that your energised smelter its eating all the power but when you put the new pipe branch before it reaches the smelter it let's other things get the power first.
The difference with the connector and the advanced connector is the speed of item transfer and the advanced can specify which side an item goes into/out of, e.g. push into the side of a furnace even tho the connector is on the bottom, both connectors support connecting to multiple machines and draws so you could just have moved the draws down 1 block and got xnet to put into them. You can also name the connectors. By far my favourite mod and even works with rftools storage to make a storage network which you can access wirelessly pretty easily and using rftools control you can setup autocrafting real easily
Can you have more then one control block on a line for this kind of system or are you only allowed one and have to make lots of machines for every control because you cant have more than one on a line. Because it looks like you can only go to 8 for one control.
Use them both! Refined is AMAZING at storage, in my opinion, much better than AE. AE is the MASTER CRAFTER! They work SO well together this way, I think.
didnt knew IF has void liquid miner i wonder if its really worth to craft does it need more power than it produce liquid i need the crude oil but dont wanna take naturaly generated oil lol
It needs the same as the normal laser always did, so the 4 laser thingies, but only 1 lens that sets what fluid it makes. And yes the liquid laser is new
Those pipes look cool, but I've had some weird issues with them like not being able to extract from a Cyclic battery. Plus they are hella expensive. Xnet drove me crazy today with a weird bug. If I set it up to output a redstone signal based on items in an inventory it works just fine. BUT if I set it to output one based on a different redstone signals strength it would never stop outputting it once it started. Even deleting the channel wouldn't stop it. Only way was to break and replace the connector sending the signal.
Didn t know about xnet before, very cool mod indeed. Also resolves my issue with ender io conduits not being here, i think i m addicted to having liquids, items and power being handled in the same block
@@Maruf_Husaini The problem i have is when i go to copy a block i created and with a Positive pattern, place said pattern in the world, it consumes the paper. So everytime i want to copy a block i have to create a new sheet of paper and re-copy the block. Positive patterns (and others) don't display a light outline, of the block im placing, so there is a lot of guessing. Mirror patterns don't work, as in they copy but wont even place blocks. Negative patterns when created turn in to floppy disks in the crafting table. When i got to create a new block and select "flat" (i think thats what its called) and place 1 on top of the other it skips a slab and goes right to the next one (if that makes sense lol). I have all the material in the bits bag, and in personal inventory and having these problems. Not just one material either, i've used stone, wooden planks, marble, and water with the same results. Thats pretty mush the jest of it.
My one concern on this would be whether or not you'll be using more energy to produce the fuel (once you've upgraded all of the machines) than you'll be producing with 2-3 compression dynamos. I don't know what their output is and haven't done the math, but if it scales anything like the magmatic dynamo does..... even 2 or 3 dynamos might not be enough, and you might not have enough fuel to run more than that..... I dunno. Has anyone done the math?
Dire, what would be cool for this season is to set up a lot of your RS auto-crafting to run through xnet subassemblies. So instead of just sending your smelting to an interface attached to a furnace, make use xnet to pull items from the RS interface and push it to an expandable bank of furnaces, then pull back the items and push them back into the RS interface. It'd be a lot more interesting than the same set of machine autocrafting as we always get, and it may even be even more efficient (since you'll let smaller xnet systems handle parallel processing instead of trying to make it work in RS).
Might want to look into quantum storage as a replacement of drawers. it's kinda expensive, but you can do so much more interesting stuff with it. The controller can be connected to without anything in the middle, and the storage can be locked and have much more storage capacity. The only issue is that you, as far as I can tell, can't connect the Quantum Tanks to them.
Just a question for anyone, after this last modpack update my mining dimensions transformed all the loaded chunks I had into gronglegrowth biomes or the biome from the undergarden. Curious why this would even happen but also any way to fix it?

@Quietust Again, they have no other function than STORING liquids, there is no point in making it cost more. Now if it had an interface where it stored multiple liquids, had sorting or piping or literally any other addition then just being able to store liquids only then would it cost more
