  • The 2023 Kia Sportage X-Pro is an impressive compact crossover, but it gets even better after dark. Few reviews or test drives show you what a vehicle looks like at night but some vehicles really shine in the dark, and the Sportage is definitely among them. In this video, Jill Ciminillo shows off both the interior and exterior lighting, along with other important features you may have missed in other reviews.

I really appreciate these videos! Please do more vehicles at night! I liked the one Tim did of some full size trucks too! I'm weird, I actually care how headlights and taillights, really how all the lighting looks in choosing a vehicle. I even care how the turn signs look 😂

Just ordered the 2023 hybrid. Lots of power more features than Rav hybrid as well as better warranty and more room as well. Cheaper as well

There is auto headlights you just have to turn them on. And there is ambient lighting which you can turn on which lights it up quite a bit

Great review, agree with most everything you said. I recently picked up the sportage hybrid, SX prestige, the extra power from the hybrid really really makes a difference. One note on the comments about not be able to see the writing on the headlights and windshield wipers, levers, one thing they did, was when you move them on the display it tells you what sitting there on, so you really don't need to see what's written on the stock. Really a great touch by her

I like the screen changing the radio

Jill, love the video format, excellent narration, and content. Now for the real reason for this comment > Screens that mimic buttons > as the average age of the length of time we are keeping cars (trucks or whatever) screens wear out over time. In 7 years, would the screen start to lose its ability to display? I think that answer to that is "YES". Drop the temp to neg 20 or neg 40 (like here in Minnesota) screens just do not work well when that cold. Now go 120 degrees (like Pheonix) and screens do not do well at that extreme either. Take a 1975 Chevy with a bush button radio, it still works just fine (if you like AM). My 2015 Kia Soul has had all the exterior lamps replayed with LED's and now I am starting to replace them as they burn out. 7 years (and 31,000 miles) and the LEDs are breaking down. Just try to replace a custom screen such as the HVAC screens in 5 years, the manufacturer will not have any NOS available, and you will have to live with splotches on the screen. No thankyou -- give me analog dials and old-fashioned Rock and Roll.
That being said, I really like the nighttime video reviews. At 45 degrees N latitude, we have 6 months of the year where the night is longer than the day. From November to Feb -- we never see the sun as it rises after we start work and sets before we get home, so we live in darkness. Low beam coverage is very important to us. Thank you for letting us see the headlight pattern.

In my car if you push the light leaver forward it turns on auto high-beams with matrix lightning.

Sport mode fixes that. I felt the same way until I was rushing to work and used it. It was 🔥👊🏾

I’m going to select Sport Mode for a couple of days and see if that addresses the acceleration issues vs the fuel economy.

Lighted wiper or headlight stalks are rare. I can’t remember a brand that has ever offered that. I agree, it would be nice at least on upper trims of any model.

Looks pretty funky, but kinda not offended by that. I can’t wait for smart headlights to become commonplace. Think it will eliminate many of the issues with the increased output that so many of these new HID or LED lamps provide (which can be distracting to others in certain situations or if misaligned).

I like climate control panel. Remember you have your stalk to change stations, volume, & inputs. You can also program the media/climate to default to one or the other after it’s been used. Just have to determine who’s going to be using the system more, you or a passenger.

You should have had them put the Sportage in reverse while viewing the rear. I've heard complaints the reverse lights are not good

It does have auto high beams. You have to enable them in the settings. This model that you are reviewing is the X-Pro Prestige. The X-Pro does not have the left, right or front camera. It also does not have the ventilated seats.

I really like this upgraded Kia Sportage. Much better than my in-laws 2019. If my Civic was older, I would consider trading-in.
I like the lighting, exterior and interior design. No CVT, correct?

I wouldn’t buy a Kia or Hyundai in my area, cause you can’t get service. 3 month wait for a simple oil change appointment and if you need a part for repair, they keep it on the lot without a loaner for over a month. Kinda useless.
