WoO basically reminds me of Ocean's idea of "Latant Christianity". Mythic literalism, high racism and homophobia, and pseudo-science. I would bet a good money that he was raised in an extremely fundementalist christian household where he was taught the teachings of Ken Hamm, young earth, homophobia, classic southern racism, and pseudo-science. He is a fundementalist christian reskinned into a Norse Pagan.
@Proud Saiyan Prince almost every heathen in America was Christian at some point and we don't choose our names at birth. These aren't valid criticisms. Him carrying his Christian baggage into his new faith and then using that to manipulate people now IS valid criticism. Let's leave the vague anti Semitic comments out of the discourse please.
@@ElMexicanDonald The only evidence of that comes from laws written well into the conversion. There is no hard proof one way or the other of homophobic tendencies pre-christianization.
"Unexpected Poop Gnosis." I never really thought of scatology as a discipline of any religion. Let's just say it's a good thing that I wasn't trying to drink anything a that point in the video.
"Words only go so far, and if you have actions that counters your words, then your words are meaningless" This is an amazing quote. Thank you for casting light upon this man!
After watching this video, I distanced myself from WoO and unfortunately fell out of touch with Paganism, he was my main source and I hadn't found anyone else. A couple days ago I came back to the path and found Ocean Keltoi. Through his video on WoO I came back here and I want to thank you again for the eye-opener and thank the gods for bringing me back on the path.
Oh yeah I would have told you immediately Ocean is the best Heathen content creator we have in terms of morals and information alike. Plus he's just a genuinely nice and funny guy. I definitely reccomend him.
It’s sad to see someone who’s molesting an old religion and its traditions for his own benefit and fame. But exposing losers like this is exatcly how you destroy a cult like woo’s. I know you only like spreading positivity and understandment of the Gods on your channel but a video like this is nice to have because I constantly worry about how dips like him are going to strain or ruin the reputation of norse paganism in the new world. Keep going man thank you for all the videos 💪🏻
Woo Loki video was the final straw for me. I had been skeptical about him for a while before that. I wasn’t aware of all the drama on discord was happening until after I started following Ocean. His videos gave a strange vibe that was a little creepy, thought it was just his personality. Everyone is on their own journey. Thanks for bringing this up
As a Norse pagan for about 1 & half years all I've really known is Jacob as my MAIN source and I heard rumours and saw some stuff but I never really wanted to believe it probably solely due to the fact I got comfortable with his content. After reviewing this and taking the time to read every single screenshot there's no chance I'm supporting him. I guess that's another lesson I've just been taught
It isn't your fault that you've been duped. What matters is you've learned more about discernment, can move forward with the knowledge, and be better for it. ☺
@@ragingwitch8875 Exactly! just so glad I never threw any money towards his agenda, because it unfortunately crossed my mind once or twice. I would quote something from Spartacus but it may be inappropriate, although funny lmao
Ty I’m in the same boat I’ve considered myself a Norse pagan for several months now and when I started looking into this stuff with WoO and now I don’t know what to do or where to look
Same here, I was only with him for a couple weeks but damn- I am everything he’s against with the exception of I am white European but the fact that any of that matters is sickening. Honestly I almost donated to him but some comments threw me off a little and when I went to find his channel “WoO controversy” was a top result so thankfully I followed my gut
My situation was almost exactly the same until someone in the community urged me to watch some of Ocean Keltoi’s videos on the matter. Sad how someone can seem perfectly normal if you are only a casual viewer of what they put on social media and missed the backwards and hurtful things they say and prescribe to in live streams, etc. Edit: for anyone who may be looking for a different community where you can still get ideas and share your experiences with Norse paganism, I high recommend joining tumblr if that’s your thing. The community is really friendly and open and it’s nice to have other pagans to communicate with if you practice alone :)
I would like to put this out there for those who are confused about why Declaration 127 and the Declaration of Deeds are important. We are a religion with a public reputation for involvement with Nazis; this is a fact, and pretending otherwise will do nothing to address the fact that this is both how we are perceived, and that we do have a problem with fascists and white supremacists. To address this, having a means for communities to loudly and publicly declare to our BIPOC and LGBTQ+ fellows that if they share a seat at our table, they can do so while knowing they will not knowingly be sat next to someone who wants them dead is critical. It is not a chain or an oath, it is not some condemnation or demand. It is a guarantee that promises our most vulnerable fellow heathens and allies that they are safe to interact with us, that we will not stand for those who wish them dead for being who they are. If it is too hard for you to make such a promise, then your community is, so far as I can see, worthless. Feel free to refuse to make that promise, but know that those of us who consider the humanity of our fellow heathens important will make note and will do so loudly so those under threat of violence know which tables are safe to sit at.
You should take a look at wolf's video where many people from the community stated that entire phrase. It's amazing how many came together to put out such a strong message.
@@sumbunnl will do. Always love to see people standing up for what's right. Like wolf said it's a simple thing and in the general context its a shame more people don't. But it seems like that's changing with is always a positive.
Ugh. I used to watch this guy, thankfully I stopped watching him a while back. I was kinda turned away when he made a completely unnecessary comment about people who worship Hel, but once I saw where he wouldn't directly dismiss the AFA, I was done
@@helsskald2417 Yet he worships Odin who would count as a death deity in a way? He needs to get his head out of his arse, and he himself is probably going to Hel instead of Valhalla, let's see him mock us than.
His channel was one of the firsts I came across on TH-cam when I started exploring paganism. At first I liked the message he was putting out, but I wasn’t a fan of how he wouldn’t give a straight answer on things. Something just felt off. Then I came across your, Ocean’s, and others and I’ve never gone back to his except to laugh about the giants in Kentucky after I watched the stream y’all did.
I followed him for a while. It wasn’t bad in the beginning when he only had less than 5000 subs, but as time has gone on the “charged by Odin” vibe to “gather the folk” just reminds me more and more of a televangelist especially since it costs money to be a part of his community.
I have only been watching his early videos, and some of those seem okay, I mean a broken clock is right twice a day. So I do think some of his early stuff could still be good information
He's not saying anything special. You can get that toddler level info and more from other places and then you're not giving views to him. Check out ocean keltois videos. He'll teach more than you'll ever learn from Jacob
Now, I may not like Keltoi a whole lot, but he sure as fuck isn’t a racist or anything similar, and I don’t appreciate this Jacob asshole trying to label him as such. I had heard enough before about WoO to know he was bad, but I had no idea he was *this* bad. I’ll be sure to send this to my sister so she knows to stay well away from him.
as a Kentuckian, he makes me so upset. pagans face so much adversity here already and the fact he's in my own backyard and I had no idea blows my mind -- and folks latching onto this makes me so angry. thanks for the video and bringing to light necessary information.
ain’t that the truth brother,I am also a Kentuckian and have been a pagan for three years now, I have been looking for fellow pagans to gather with and such but I’ve been busy with military things lol so that’s been difficult and I didn’t want to just jump into any ol group of pagans…ya gotta be careful these days
His pseudo science shit like humans coming from Mars reminds of Spirit Science and the cult of Teal Swan that I almost fell into. Glad this video exists about this guy.
No frið with folkists! Once again, thank you so much for this video. But please be careful of the possible backlash you could receive from him and his community. May the Gods protect you and the ones you hold dear!
Forced blood oaths and physically assaulting people? If that's the truth of what happened it's beyond egregious and massive abuse of power. That's horrendous and I hope the people who were harmed have gotten distance and space to heal.
I was gonna say! Never mind the context of what was done, it is, regardless, still assault, and illegal! As I understand the American system (I'm a Canadian), only the person assaulted could bring charges against him, but couldn't people who witnessed it directly still contact the police and file a report about it? You know, have it on file if someone comes in with another complaint about him. I'm not even sure how one would go about that (while we have the odd city or province with their own police force, we still largely have the RCMP, which at least does make things like this easier to coordinate across regions)-- would it be the FBI one would do that with? But I feel fairly strongly that that would be the responsible thing to do. What an asshole!!
I found this faith thru Jacob but I learned very quickly that he was trying to capitalize from paganism. And now he is taking vacations and buying houses on our money. It’s strange to watch and the first time I reached out to him on his Patreon he pretty much Ed talked to me like I was stupid
Thanks for taking the initiative on this! We need to call people like him out and go to uncomfortable places in the process. Victimization in itself is wrong, victimization of those that already face barriers is abhorrent
I tagged you in some screen shots on twitter and got a response and now we are blessed with Wolf call out vid. On WoO??! Could New Years get any better!?
Thank you Wolf the Red, my wife and I have been exploring this religion for about a year now. We were both raised Catholic and we never felt spiritually connected to it. Through my uncle talking about my grandmother who was born in Norway i started to learn more about my family and the history of that side of my family and it intrigued both my wife and myself. My wife for a few years now has gotten into wiccan and I also tried but we really felt a strong connection to norse pagans and those gods. So long story short we started to really listen to Wisdom of odin and bc of you and Ocean we have come to learn that NOT all pagans are including. My wife is Mexican and our son is mixed and we haven't always received the kindest welcome to being norse pagan. So i just wanted to write this and say thank you to both you and Ocean for so much rich and insightful content to learn more about what it is to be a pagan and to warn about the darker side that some practice with this religion.
This is such a "I told ya so" moment 😂. I was painted as the bad/jealous guy a couple years ago. Nobody believed me. Always listen to your intuition people 😎✌🏽
I am a gay Trans man and WoO was my introduction to all of this... I looked up to him and was amazed by him and was so distracted w his claim of being commanded by Odin and wanting a community I never caught any of this and this is going to show how horrible this man is... I can't thank you enough for making this video and bringing this to light.. I still can't believe I nearly got sucked in
Funny enough I am a trans man who found other trans male heathens looking for community in his video comments, and while it was nice finding others, there was some nasty shit going on in those threads by WoO supporters
His call from Odin was a red flag to me that i ignored. Its very much an old trick that Christians have been using for years and a big reason why I dont like traditional religion. I chalked it up to his previous experiences with Christianity and living in a very religious area like Kentucky. Thoses learned behaviors dont go away just because you changed religions. Turns out he's using the same play book now with a new norse pagan cover.
funnily enough didnt he actually state that he made it so his videos would pop up the most upon certain searches? or is that just a typical TH-cam thing anyway?
My jaw literally dropped at the mention of the cut. I know I’m late with a lot of this, but I’m trying to stockpile info against WoO due to my pagan coworker having introduced me to him during the pandemic. I’ve had an idea of some of the issues Jacob had, but gods. I didn’t realize it was ever this had. This was a very well informed video. I’m glad I got around to finding people like yourself and ocean.
"Process this video before reacting emotionally." Already did that when you talked about the garbage going on at his "gatherings." All the signs and symptoms are there.
I'm glad I don't follow him anymore. I used to and I sent his videos to some of my friends who are interested in Norse paganism. I need to inform them that he is a cult leader and doesn't actually believe he just wants money. Thanks for the warning.
The more and more I hear about this guy the happier I am that I didn't get too deep into his content before I found Ocean and you. Being a baby heathen, I fee like I could have fallen for his schemes. Thanks for everything you do for this community
I share this with you. I couldn't get a solid feel on him for a long time, because I didn't know what to look for, in terms of red flags and dog whistles. He always gave me an odd feeling though. I found him only a month or two after I found Ocean, and if it had been the other way around, I might have joined his discord first instead.
Well prepare for a knee slapper. I used to have a few adult heathen contacts during my teen years and the matter of nazis and elitism was problematic for them as well, so when I recently felt the call and wanted to dip my toes in it with some TH-cams, I only watched Jacob's stuff. The reason being that he seemed very amicable, and I didn't want to get dragged into bad company, so to say. Cue risitas.mov. Needless to say, I'm glad to have found Ocean and crew now.
I'm a relatively new Heathen and I'm Bisexual. Anyone who tells you that you cannot be a heathen and gay is a liar and deserves to wallow in loneliness as far as I'm concerned.
I came to Heathenism, through wanting to learn about the history and belief systems of where my immigrant parents came from and heathenism felt totally right to me.I found amongst others WOO and it was interesting, but I did notice the hedging of answers to really important questions. This made turn off him. Also another site is Norse Magic and Beliefs which felt very uncomfortable with. There is no place in modern, caring societies for racism, bigotry and gay hatred. We are not trying to become the people of the past, who lived in the PAST, but to learn and appreciate the wisdoms of our chosen belief system.
Yeah I have watched a large amount of NM&B videos and I don't really like his stuff so much... his historical research and interpretation is not up to my standards, and it seems he's a bit of a political conservative which doesn't at all vibe with what I am into, but he's also as far as I can tell pretty anti racist and pretty open about his issues with them as well, though he does have a random dog whistl-y thing here or there, I get the feeling he's an alright guy just a bit ignorant maybe...
@@WolfTheRed Norse magic and beliefs is one of the best channels for paganism on TH-cam. He uses sources for almost all his claims and he states when something his own opinion
As someone who almost got sucked into WoO's community, it sickens me how abusive he is. Especially against those who self harm and who are trans. Thank you Wolf for calling these behaviors out, and standing up for those who've been hurt by this greedy man.
Me too, he was the first one I watched when I started with paganism and I actually liked the guy, and now it's just like, "phew dodged a bullet there". Can't even take him seriously on anything, even non related stuff, he's just lost everything going for him. His pretty thumbnails and nice outro music can't help him anymore.
Noooo I was getting into Norse paganism and his videos came up and they were so good! This is terrible and I’m grateful for videos like these letting us viewers know that he isn’t all that cool :(( thanks for the video!
Finally getting a chance to sit down and digest this video and I didn't know it was this deep but wow am I happy I got out before I got in too deep. Thank the Gods I found yours and Oceans community
Also reading through the comments shown in the video one really stuck out, his mention of reaching out to Hugin and Muninn publishing. Last I checked they were afa affiliated
@@scartissue545 Oh they are? I bought their study havamal off of amazon almost a year ago when I was still a heathen. I'm glad I won't be supporting them anymore
This might sound simple, but the guy creeped me out in the first video I watched of his. From day one something just didn't feel right about him. He reads a couple books and suddenly he is "Sent by Odin" ? To be blunt, I think Woo simply just fell off his rocker and lays on the kitchen floor every night weeping in the fetal position wearing his Marvel Comics costume. I hope the gods reach out to him and show him the actions he needs to take to get back on track. I wish him well and hope he goes away to a sacred cleansed place (with no internet), for as long as it takes (5? 10? 20 years?), and makes amends with the gods for misrepresenting them. The gods are aware of his misdeeds; we can all be sure of that. I'm sure Hel will find the appropriate Hall for Woo when the time comes.
I appreciate you taking the time to go through all of this. He was unfortunately one of the TH-camrs I found earlier in my journey into heathery, so I have seen a number of his videos. Fortunately, I had already started getting a bad feeling about him and quit watching before seeing any of you or Ocean's content on him. This just reinforces my decision to have nothing more to do with him. It's good to be aware of these things.
Forgive me for this because it's entirely off topic but I just wanted to say something nice today and here feels good enough. You sound kind of like Ocean Keltoi but sleepier. Coming here from his channel so that's intended as a compliment. Live well, brother!
@@WolfTheRed Well you do match up rather close. To my ear you sound a tad quieter and more measured in the cadence of your speech, but both are good voices. Both far more pleasant than my own horrid bassy grumble.
Shout out to Jonathan. Met him at that gathering as a newbie. We had a fantastic fireside chat. Never liked Jacob, but suspicions were confirmed after that experience. Parted with that community since.
We are at your back wolf. No matter what anyone thinks, you are in the right, and you are on a mission that is extremely important. We all need to be ready and willing to stand firm against the oppression, hatred, and disgusting nature that WoO stands for. This video is extremely enlightening to this prior mentioned issues, but only scratches the surface of this bigots ideology. Stay safe, and go big or go home brother
@@WolfTheRed I got you brother. Anyone who has a community that thinks it’s okay to threaten someone for asking them to renounce hatred, is someone who should not be in any form of power.
It's terrible how bad he is. It's made even worse by how easy he is to find. If you search "norse pagan" on youtube, what's the first thing you find? It's probably still his video on "Things I wish I knew first" or some junk like that. And if you're looking into norse paganism, I'd bet that "norse pagan" is probably your first search. As much as I hate to admit it, I think we can all agree that he is perfectly capable of talking a good talk. He can get you in deep before you even know it happened. Above all else, those make him so dangerous, and combined with his views on things, it makes him a disaster waiting to happen. Oh sorry, he doesn't have views, having views is too political for him and his "folk" ( I hope you can hear me rolling my eyes at the stupidity of the way he acts). And as an extra note, I'd just like to say I appreciate the way you present things. Yeah, you share your thoughts on things which is important, but the theme overall is "Here's what I know, I want to share with you so you can make your choices in an educated way". You would've been completely valid for just coming in here and just absolutely tearing this guy apart with every bit of rage that the situation asks for, but you didn't, and I respect the hell out of that.
Thank you Wolf for this amazing video. I know it wasn't easy on you, but it is such an important message. Keep doing the good work, we've got your back
I am absolutely disgusted. I am ashamed that WOO was my introduction to this journey. I am mostly disgusted with the blood oath stuff. I for one think it's completely unnecessary let alone forcing somebody to do it.
I know. I’m in a pagan fb group for my state and it bums me out when people try to share his video and I have to let them know some of this stuff. But he was one of my first intros to heathenry as well. Just really glad I subsequently found wolf and ocean
@NordicFate I don't know if it's completely necessary only because I haven't found any sources outside of the sagas that include some sort of blood ritual for the Norse archaeologically speaking. However I do believe people should practice how they want but they shouldn't Force anybody else to do it. You have the freedom to make a blood offering and I would never challenge that that's your choice but it seems like wisdom of Odin made the choice for somebody else and that is just absolutely disgusting
WoO introduced me into Norse Paganism and I’ve binged his Norse videos. His channel is what got me into Norse Paganism and finally took the dive into the religion completely. I’ve just learned of this all and am quite shooked. Im glad to have found new channels to learn from because I feel disgusted I was ever into his channel.
As someone who is very new to Norse Paganism/Heathenry, I did initially watch quite a few of WoO's videos because they are some of the first to pop up when you search. I kept seeing Ocean's videos off to the side and thinking to watch them. Like many others I got some strange vibes from Jacob and his videos. I also found him rather annoying, so I clicked on a video of Ocean's talking about him, not realizing what I was going to be seeing. My mind was blown! One of the biggest things for me when becoming interested in this religion/lifestyle was the absolute importance of not being tied to any form of racism and bigotry. I, myself, am in a same sex relationship and have a very diverse friend group, as well as family through adoption. I felt dirty after finding out that my very first TH-cam experience with another Norse Pagan was that guy. Thank you for spreading the word about him and saving us new pagans from that kind of stuff. I, for one, am very grateful. I look forward to watching more of your vids and checking out your podcast.
I hate that he is the first person that comes up when you’re looking into Norse Paganism… Also, Idk if you practice Norse magical systems or not but I’d love to see some videos of that, I know Freya wants me to do it…
I think the problem with videos like that is that we don't have very much in way of academia on things like seiðr. The few things we do have are not enough to truly reconstruct the practice, so any videos on such would be the creators personal UPG more than something that could be pointed to with much source. Nothing wrong with creating your own eclectic practice, but it isn't something many will do videos on due to lack of anything substantial in way of sources.
If TH-cam promotes it or puts it on the top of the search algorithm. It’s almost always agenda supported trash. You have to dig deeper to find the real knowledge.
I’m surprised WoO is also from Ohio. We have a pretty tight knit Viking reenactment community. Which I have been a part of for several years. Never heard of this dude but I will be keeping an eye out for him this upcoming year. I’m glad you have shared some truths on him. His page rubbed me the wrong way as he seems to come off as he is speaking prophecy.
Damn. Great job on this video wolf. Thanks for bringing attention to this Dangerous Harmful WoO behavior. That part about the blood oath to Jacob was particularly surprising. 😱
I watched a lot of his videos. In the end, I wanted to watch even more about heathenry, so I went and explored Ocean Keltoi and now you, Wolf the Red. I love your podcasts, and you both seem like reasonable people. I was quite surprised to learn, that WoO didn't outright refuse folkism, and stuff like that. I hadn't felt anything in his videos, and hadn't listened to his live streams yet. The more you two tell me about him, the more I am surprised at how easy it is to be caught up in it - and the more I am happy I found you guys afterwards. Not that it is directly relevant to me in the same way, because I am a Dane, and therefore not directly part of your community. But we have limited youtubers or bloggers in Danish, so listening to your way of things is quite interesting, and teaches me a lot. Thank you! :)
I watched n will ponder your points.... you cover actually an even sided reporting,IMHO!!! The person in question...is,at my limited contact..not a person I have any faith in.... Thanks for the content! ..
Like many people here, when I was looking for answers to my heathen questions at the beginning, WoO was the first video to be suggested. At first they seemed informative, and in some cases legitimate, until WoO himself went down his own pop media, right wing pagan rabbit hole. This almost put me off my own path thinking it was wrong and potentially dangerous. I was lucky to find this channel, keltoi and many other more level headed pagans/heathens ect which helped me to a better understanding and deeper connection to my faith. WoO is cult dangerous, and if history has taught us anything, it’s that a person who speaks well and tells people what they want to hear, it can start conflict and bring harm to others. We shouldn’t be afraid to stand up to little bigots and fascists like him because if we do then they win. We are all people so be excellent to each other!
Amazing video, and I’m so glad you’ve said something Wolf. These kinds of things need to be known. Especially for us Heathens who want community so bad, we need to know we have options and the good and bad that’s out there! ❤️
I've been watching your channel for a while now, and the few things I've seen you, Ocean, and Aliakai talk about this guy, but never thought he was this bad. I thank you for the warnings here. I now know what to look for if I try and join a community to practice in near me.
Thank you for publishing content on this platform. I ( regretfully) do not use many platforms other than You Tube and Twitch ( no Twitter or Instagram or ....) So ALL that a Newbie sees is WoO being a person of Positive Intent and teaching ( some) basics... I didn't see the 'Drama' and just Believed. And i take the fault and the responsibility of it. But this is what WE SEE! ( Darn YT algorithms) pushed. Your Voice, and Ocean' s , and Others are DESPERATELY NEEDED Out there So again, THANK YOU
I don't know about Wisdom of Odin and his history. The issue I have, as being new to Heathenry, is that I do not understand how the universalist view of paganism holds water. The veneration of gods believed to be ancestors of the believers seems to be more volkish and counter to a universalist view. So I see the argument that people of other races should seek guidance from their own kin and ancestors than from those from which they have no tribal link. The way I see it, one does not need to hate others to love their tribe. One shouldn't feel pressured to accept someone outside their tribe. Someone who is not welcomed into a particular group should not be offended when they are denied, but rather continue to seek a tribe of their own.
@@WolfTheRed would you have a link to or point me in the direction of the source for that claim? I'm still attempting to read all I can on the known sources so far.
There's no where in any of the lore that says black people can't be norse pagan. There's a mountain of historical cultural evidence to show they didn't care about things like race or skin color back then.
As someone who has recently become interested in Norse paganism, I genuinely thank you for saving me the time and energy of discerning what kind of person WoO is and what his community embodies.
Thanks for the video! This is very damning... I think even one of these being brought up alone would've been enough for me to back out of a community like that... But the amount you mentioned, plus that it's not a complete amount? Yikes D:
Thanks for posting this. WOO was one of the first channels I came across when I started doing research into Asatru concepts. Thankfully you and Ocean made it apparent how much negativity is associated with the channel.
Religion needing money is why I don't like organized religion. To worship should be free, to be able to find information should be free. No man should live off the back of others... pretty sure there is a havamal verse about that. I don't recall as I haven't studied it just glanced over it.
Appreciate your hard work on this Wolf. I'm tired of fascist sympathizers existing in our spaces without criticism, actively cause harm, and abuse their power. Thank you thank you, this is so important.
@@Name-tf4qp Personally, I was a pagan *long* before I started to consider myself a SJW. And know what? As a Heathen, I'm still perfectly okay with using whatever tools I have available, including social media, to stand up and speak out against bigotry, racism, and hatred. I don't see any conflict between these beliefs at all. In fact, given how much damage has been done to our communities, lands, and world by fear, greed, and hatred, I'd say my Heathenism and my activism (irl as well as online) are, at least for me, pretty tightly interwoven and integral to each other.
I have met people like this in my past. When I was a lot younger I fell into a group that had all these types of aspects and had a figure head such as him. I woke up out of the bullshit and then had good friends to help me clear my path. I learned a lot from being manipulated by those kinds of people to which I am always cautious of any person that claims to have any kind of devine knowledge. Hence why I have always been attracted to the occult, Paganism and Heathenism. There I can make up my own mind, be with whoever chooses to be with me, agree with science and believe in areas of mysticism that call to me in their own esoteric fashion. As I explored on TH-cam more on Norse Paganism, I ran into WoO. He seemed on the level at first, but as I saw more of his videos he started to remind me of the people from my past that used manipulation to achieve their own selfish goals. Thank you for making this video and speaking out against people like this. I am definitely now a subscriber of your channel.
@@WolfTheRed It is a long story with what I had dealt with. A lot of hallmarks and callbacks to which what a cult leader would manipulate someone or many people. To be honest this video has inspired me to possibly tell my story so others might not go through what I did. Maybe I might start my own channel and post videos. Definitely is in the realm of possibilities now. Thanks again for doing what you do. It is a breath of fresh air to see Heathen's being open minded and critical at the same time.
I signed the declaration 127 myself last year. I agree whole heartily with it. I'm also sorry for missing the live I will make sure I will be on the next one.
I am SO glad I found you guys through Ocean's Hammered Out collabs with Suris. Running into somebody like WoO first would've turned me off of the community at least for a good while.
It’s such a shame that so many people get pulled into paganism through him, I just hope enough people can branch away from his scam before he does serious damage to them through his non words, ill intended actions, and enforcers.
I think this guy will forever be dangerous and always aspire to be a cult leader. So thank you for speaking up about him. He has the ability to destroy peoples minds and lives.I saw his videos a few years ago and just couldn’t….I have a very real fear and awareness of cult behaviors and he stood out as a red flag.
Idc once you've cut someone open instead of saying maybe you shouldn't do this tonight. Once you've cut someone open without consent in an intimate gathering and no one walked away from your leadership, you've become a cult leader and should not be in charge of anyone's spiritual guidance.

I actually picked up Beyond The North Wind recently because of WoO. I've only read a few chapters of it and I thought the idea of hyperborea was an interesting conspiracy theory. It did have a bit of a white supremacist feel to it, but I didn't realize how bad it was. I just found this Channel and Ocean's in just the past few days. Yall have given me a lot to think about when it comes The Wisdom of Odin's Channel. I'm still fairly new to being a Norse Pagan/Heathen so thanks.
This made me so sick and so sad. I blocked him on TH-cam so I haven’t been recommended his videos since. He used to be recommended after other Heathen creators like you and Ocean. Thank you for informing all of us of how bad it has gotten.
I was following this dude on TH-cam as a new pagan and I was at a point where I was looking for knowledge to help explain it all then I found videos by you and ocean explaining this dude and I'm so thankful for that being new at something sucks especially when you have people who hide like this it's refreshing to know people care enough to make videos like these to warn others about people like wisdom of odin much love to you and ocean
'Loki is a shape-shifter, not gender fluid' I am not a norse pagan by any means, but doesn't Loki literally 'fluid the gender' in the myths, so to speak?
I’m not really too big in knowing who’s who with Heathen TH-cam channels, but I would hope most people wouldn’t take someone who is throwing the UPG of being “commanded by Odin” seriously.
@@T0B3Announc3d i haven't listened to all his podcasts and vlogs but have come a cross these discussions of what hes up to recently. I have seen a few of his videos though but thats it. Because i haven't been to his discord or any of his online communities if he has any i can personally verify how culty he actually is.
Now that I was able to take my time and really process all the information in the video it just keeps getting worse and worse. I thank you wolf for all that you do for the community and for having to deal with all this bullshit to put out this much needed video.
I started listening to another channel as well, Norse Magic and Beliefs, which I have since blocked recommendations from. At first I felt a little uneasy at his macho-dude-bro Viking circlejerk persona and complaints about "wokeness", but that wasn't quite enough for me to cast a definitive judgement. I never came across an overt statment from him that confirmed my suspicions. But I learned a while ago that you can judge a person by the company they keep. So off to the comment sections I went, and what do you know? The whole place is riddled with discussions of the "Aryan people of Europe" and typical alt-right takes on post modernist thinking and "leftism". Quite overt. Also seemingly the group consensus. No pushback whatsoever from the dude who runs the channel. Just convenient silent so he can feign ignorance as he creates a safe space for white nationalists to propagate their ideas and conflate them with paganism trying to lure in ignoriant minds with halve truths and misrepresentation of material, outrignt lies. This racist garbage is a problem that runs very deep. And whether or not you personally hold racist ideology dear to your heart, if you Empower people who do and allow them a voice to use bad-faith tactics to spread their messages through these thin end of the wedge type maneuvers, you are an ally of them. Back to WoO and his fence-sitting nonsense. You can't "love" a marginalized group of people while you're giving validation to the people who are actively marginalizing them.
So I just started looking into Norse Paganism about a month or two ago and WoO's videos have been very helpful. I can normally tell pretty quickly when someone is a faker but I've been giving him the benefit of the doubt because he seems to have good intentions and he never pushes anything in his videos per say. Its more like this is what I do but you don't have to do that. I don't really understand how he doesn't have some kind of hall at this point. Real estate in Kentucky where he lives is not super expensive to buy or rent. Even just buying land to eventually put a hall should be pretty easy. Kentucky is a beautiful state. Why would he be looking somewhere he doesn't live for his first hall? Makes no sense. I guess unless he just trying to get money. I didn't like that the discord was behind a pay wall and his money motivation pops out in several videos. I learned early on in the racist history of the movement and I naively assumed that was a thing of the past. So far from what I can tell and the draw to the norse gods is their ability to change and evolve over time. I'd like to think that as moderen society developed so did the gods. I like that deeds and honor are more important than where your from and what you look like. That being said I was worried that non white people would feel weird in these spaces. I never considered the lgbt community because i again naively assumed that wasn't an issue based on the values at the basis of the religious coming back to deeds, honor, family and friendship. I just watched the WoO video about runes and what was weirder that the concept of activating the runes with blood what the dynamic between Jacob and the young lady in his video. Very much a leader and his follower looking for favor and not just two friends or two equals. Now with this idea of blood sacrifice and Jacob's arm cutting, can someone clarify blood sacrifice to this newbie? Necessary? Not necessary? Special occasions? Optional? Super weird and culty? Hadn't considered blood sacrifice so please let me know. Another thing I found odd what that despite being part of a large norse pagan community and saying he believes in the values and wants a family, he's single. This was a red flag because it usually implies misogyny. Of course this is my personal opinion based on personal experience. Again, I had hoped that misogyny was also something thrown out the racism and dismissal of the lgbtq community. So learning this about the first youtuber I came across really casts a shadow over my experience. I will say that I do try to expose myself to differing views from mine and try to understand where other people come from. That's the draw to norse Paganism, the open-mindedness. There is no Bible and no one authority on the matter. So its really shitty when such an influential leader misues their platform. I didn't know that there was a fee to attend his events. That's pretty shitty too. Its weird that no children are allowed since family is such a big part of the religion, as far as I can tell, but I'm new. I guess I should have assumed the gatherings would involve heavy drinking weed and psychedelics but I never gave it much thought. I liked the idea like someone said of family gatherings. So i guess I can no longer be naive and hopeful and now have to cast a discerning eye of cynicism on this too.
@@proudsaiyanprince2651 that last line feel a bit strange when a lot of norse pagans were raised Christians, especially in the US.

Thanks for bringing this up
Well, this'll be starting the new year off with a banger. Getting my popcorn ready.
I love the "If you stand with hatred you will stand alone" Personally I think "and you'll fall alone" to it as well. But aye that's just me lolzz
You should take a look at wolf's video where many people from the community stated that entire phrase. It's amazing how many came together to put out such a strong message.

I started watching him last year and a few videos in, my intuition told me he’s trouble. The way he comes across shows his intentions 100% clearly.
Not how I expected to start my new year on youtube but I'm here for it all the same!! *snags the popcorn*
I followed him for a while. It wasn’t bad in the beginning when he only had less than 5000 subs, but as time has gone on the “charged by Odin” vibe to “gather the folk” just reminds me more and more of a televangelist especially since it costs money to be a part of his community.

Honestly, criminal charges should have been filed. There has to be a peaceful way of removing this threat to heathens.

You have the freedom to make a blood offering and I would never challenge that that's your choice but it seems like wisdom of Odin made the choice for somebody else and that is just absolutely disgusting
Just don't be disgusted with yourself, know that you choose a different path. You were wise enough to get out of his circle.
@@forestjohnson7474 things with that guy seem a lot more tame now that he's most likely spending the money he collected on his travels
Ocean Keltoi and the free community we run will be a great place that supports inclusive norse pagans like yourself
Glad to have you JT! I hope you and your partner enjoy the content and the community.
Kentucky I believe. He holds gatherings all over the country (gotta keep that revenue stream flowing)
Damn. Great job on this video wolf. Thanks for bringing attention to this Dangerous Harmful WoO behavior. That part about the blood oath to Jacob was particularly surprising. 😱
You merited Yourself a new Subscriber. I appreciate Your integrity

I appreciate you listening
@@WolfTheRed U R Welcome!
This is just plain disgusting, glad you're putting this info out Wolfie.
So disgusting how dare white people network and congregate with their own folk! 😂😂
There is so much nope is the wisdom of odin.
Thank you for publishing content on this platform. I ( regretfully) do not use many platforms other than You Tube and Twitch ( no Twitter or Instagram or ....)
So ALL that a Newbie sees is WoO being a person of Positive Intent and teaching ( some) basics...
I didn't see the 'Drama' and just Believed.
And i take the fault and the responsibility of it.
But this is what WE SEE! ( Darn YT algorithms) pushed.
Your Voice, and Ocean' s , and Others are DESPERATELY NEEDED Out there
So again, THANK YOU
I don't know about Wisdom of Odin and his history.
Being new to heathenry I can understand why you would be wrong about that. Folkism is spiritual racism and not how it was practiced in history.
@@WolfTheRed would you have a link to or point me in the direction of the source for that claim? I'm still attempting to read all I can on the known sources so far.
Ocean Keltoi and I both have videos on why folkism isn't a valid ideology
I will check those out, but I was more curious about texts that review the history / archeological discoveries to show universalist practices.
Thank you for making this video Wolf! I know this journey has been rough for you but thank you for making it!
Thanks for sticking with me Strykar
Thanks for the video! This is very damning... I think even one of these being brought up alone would've been enough for me to back out of a community like that... But the amount you mentioned, plus that it's not a complete amount? Yikes D:
I appreciate you taking the time to listen and process it all.
You're a good guy Wolf.
Thanks for posting this. WOO was one of the first channels I came across when I started doing research into Asatru concepts. Thankfully you and Ocean made it apparent how much negativity is associated with the channel.
Great video! Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us, & I hope this is a topic that doesn't get swept under the rug
I hope so too!
I am SO SO grateful for finding Ocean and Aliakai early on in my path and not getting brainwashed.
Religion needing money is why I don't like organized religion. To worship should be free, to be able to find information should be free. No man should live off the back of others... pretty sure there is a havamal verse about that. I don't recall as I haven't studied it just glanced over it.
Thank you for the video And also thank you for allowing me to join your discord
Absolutely!
Appreciate your hard work on this Wolf. I'm tired of fascist sympathizers existing in our spaces without criticism, actively cause harm, and abuse their power. Thank you thank you, this is so important.
Thats funny people are tired of social justice warriors parading as pagans to push their ideology.
My ideology absolutely includes not allowing AFA sympathizers in my circles
@@Name-tf4qp people can care about others and still be pagan. Fascists have no place in our community and deserve no frith.
Great video! Comment for the algorithm.
Thanks mate. Glad you came out the other side ok at the end of it all.
So glad I found this early only seen a few of his vids. Thank you.
The wisdom of Odin deserves all this dragging and then some.
Why
Yes why ? Northern paganism is venneration of our European ancestors as other cultures do to their own
@@DissidentThoughts because he holds frith with nazis. thats why. he also is a cult leader and tries to get people to do things against their will. and held MANY gatherings while covid was in full swing. so…all in all a bad dude
Great job on the video Wolf. Appreciate what you do.
Much appreciated
Such an important video and so well done. Cults are dangerous and hopefully this helps newer pagans inform themselves and keep from falling into one.
This made me so sick and so sad. I blocked him on TH-cam so I haven’t been recommended his videos since. He used to be recommended after other Heathen creators like you and Ocean. Thank you for informing all of us of how bad it has gotten.
Absolutely
Ive been digging into Nore paganism for about 2 weeks now. Im glad im seeing this so early and have other sources of gaining knowledge.
I'm glad it helped mate.
'Loki is a shape-shifter, not gender fluid'
I am not a norse pagan by any means, but doesn't Loki literally 'fluid the gender' in the myths, so to speak?
Completely yes. And all the gods around loki change pronouns for loki when that happens
@@WolfTheRed The fact that the dude is a pagan and doesn't know this whilst I am a begginer (looking into pagan stuff) is INSANE.
Loki is a shapeshifter.
He didn't change his "gender" he changed his whole personality to deceive and to get what he wants.
I’m not really too big in knowing who’s who with Heathen TH-cam channels, but I would hope most people wouldn’t take someone who is throwing the UPG of being “commanded by Odin” seriously.
Thanks bro, If it wasn't for you and Ocean I'd still be following this buffoon.
This seems like hes hiding a lot and his way of picking and choosing leadership under him sound like something a cult leader would do.
I'm no expert, but I've listened to enough podcast hours about cults and cult behavior to see a clear trend, and WoO fits it to a T.
Looking forward to this!
Now that I was able to take my time and really process all the information in the video it just keeps getting worse and worse. I thank you wolf for all that you do for the community and for having to deal with all this bullshit to put out this much needed video.
Absolutely Sam. Thanks for your support.
You can't "love" a marginalized group of people while you're giving validation to the people who are actively marginalizing them.
amazing video man, thanks for posting this, Got a sub from me thats for sure
Hail wolf! For he is inclusive and has created a loving community!
Wonder if WoO is gonna shit himself...again I mean
Wolf did a video on this actually! TLDR is that blood sacrifice isn’t necessary and arguably not useful.
