@KaijuDaddyJapan Just FYI, the "handshake" hand as you called it is for placing his hands on the belt boxes as seen in many Vader standing photos. 👍 Great review!
Thank you for the review. I am expecting mine to review it as well. My only complaint is I wish the head could move more up and down. And maybe the sewing that is visible on the cape. Apart from these, I think it's the best 6inch Darth Vader figure out there.
That is not the cape they used in the promo shots - it is completely different. As one of the major factors for buying this (due to the way it hung heavy like the real cape in the promos), seeing this is a real disappointment. May be one I sell on straight away I think.
Yes they changed the cape. I think they wanted it to be more dynamic as part of the fight with Obi Wan as that damaged head sculpt is the main selling point for most people
Yeah the height was another surprise. Hopefully they’re understanding they are about to be left behind in the market and are making the adjustments. The background is the TW Toys TW1904 A & B. It’s the cover page for the FB Medicom Mafex collectors page. It’s long sold out unfortunately
That appears to be a figure of vader that I need to get. I like this one better than the mafex one, now to see if they reissue the c3po, as I believe that one was also a very good one.
@@KaijuDaddyJapan I was referring to the figuarts one, as I believe it even had good articulation for a c3po. And yeah, the mafex c3po had problems, though I think that the one that came with bb8 was a little bit better on the issues (and the bb8 seems to be an ok figure). I liked that the mafex ones are taller, I think, but if I remember correctly the last figuarts c3po was the better figure.
Nice review. Regarding this action figure, I still think that SHF should have attached the cape at the base of neck (like in the case of MAFEX), and have it removed when changing the head if neceesary (in the Mafex figure it can't be removed...). It seems to loose for me, and too bulky around the shoulders. The damaged helmet with Anakin's face insed looks awsome, but I´m still not sure if I will replace my Rouge One Darth Vader from Mafex with this new variant from SHF, even if this one comes with a fabric tunic.
The head on this was such a pain in the ass to switch. The cape kept getting in the way preventing the head from snapping in. Like you said, if they’d done it differently it would have been a big improvement. The damaged head is the only reason I picked this figure up and they really nailed it.
i have mine coming soon and after the reviews i can see i will struggle with the cape but i have a mafex ROTS vader that´s pretty beat up, i might take his cape off, take the chain of this one off, glue it to this cape i´m talking about and put it on this new vader since the mafex cape is much thinner both in material and wire, plus my vader doesn´t have a wire anymore, i might try to add one again and see if it improves anything because although it seems to be a better cape, it´s still gonna give us some struggles as far as i can tell
I bought this in Tokyo. SH Figuarts is not allowed to sell Star Wars outside of Japan. You’ll need to find a Japanese retailer or seller if you’re looking to buy it.
Just got mine today and idk if you noticed it but it's on mine too there is silver paint on the left cheek of the mask but not the right 😅 idk if that's intentional but odd to me
@KaijuDaddyJapan yeah the regular mask ...apparently it's supposed to be there its screen accurate I've never noticed it's also on the black series vader
@@KaijuDaddyJapan yes I usually just collect figures that I like that I see when I'm at Target or a Walmart this is my first time delving into buying a figure overseas
Hey bro I thinking about cutting the chain and gluing the cape on his body do you think that will work? Cuz the chain looks so god damnnn bad I want to throw up looking at it lol
The cape could be better around the neck, the paint apps could be better, and the legs would be better off being both more stable and have better drop articulation. But, it is a very nice figure. The damaged helmet is fantastic. The wired cape is great. The amount of hands are also great. Mafex Vader releases next week. Very excited for that one.
Yes I have the Jedi one. This is better. If you can wait, the Mafex one releases next week. If you only have one Vader for your collection, maybe check out the review on that one and see what you think
@@KaijuDaddyJapanI would have gotten the Mafex, but it is just a 1.5 update. The body is too skinny and it still has the plastic inner robes. The helmet and red eye lenses are beautiful though. My SHF ROTJ is better than that and this Obi Wan version looks even better, despite a few flaws.
I think the ROTJ is too small for modern 1/6. It was the first figure released in the line if memory serves and as such it’s a bit small (not for the SHF Star Wars stuff up to now). The quality of the figure is great and is a constant reminder of how far the line has fallen in quality.
Very cool figure. As you said, wish they did more weathering on the outfit to match the look
It would have definitely made a really good figure into a great one
@KaijuDaddyJapan Just FYI, the "handshake" hand as you called it is for placing his hands on the belt boxes as seen in many Vader standing photos. 👍 Great review!
Ahhhhhh total brain fart!! Haha thanks for that

Well until the 30th when the newest Mafex one releases
@@KaijuDaddyJapan No. because it doesn't have fabric on the tunic.
Never know. Tamashii completely redid this cape between prototype and release. Never know until it releases and you see what they’ve given you.
I wonder if they changed the cape to wired in production cause the promo photos made it look like it was non wired. I like it tho
No idea. The wired cape is a huge plus but the fact it bunches up around the neck makes switching the heads a pain in the butt.
That is not the cape they used in the promo shots - it is completely different. As one of the major factors for buying this (due to the way it hung heavy like the real cape in the promos), seeing this is a real disappointment. May be one I sell on straight away I think.

The height is catching up with Mafex. Thanks for the review KD! What’s the toy/kit name of the rig/scaffolding/stage at the back?
Yeah the height was another surprise. Hopefully they’re understanding they are about to be left behind in the market and are making the adjustments.

Now I’m trying to decide if to get this or the Mafex
Get both!!

Mafex C-3PO? I’ve seen it on shelves a lot over here. They might have quietly rereleased it but the QC on it was pretty bad.
@@KaijuDaddyJapan I was referring to the figuarts one, as I believe it even had good articulation for a c3po. In the voice of anakin “ I WANT MORE!”
You’re braver than I thought!
Mine's due tomorrow. Thanks for another review.
Hope you enjoy it! It’s a really nice figure.
Which do you think will be better, this or the new MAFEX one?
Hard to tell. Will know next week.

Good luck. Being a collector in this hobby ain’t easy.
In the damaged head, the eye does not seems to be well aligned, or does it?
It’s aligned. It’s not “perfectly” aligned but it does line up with the lens.
I bought the SHF guts, terrible QC and figure came broken. Any signs of similar QC issue on this vader?
Not on mine. My only real issue beyond the difficulty in changing heads is the wobbly legs. They aren’t as firm as I’d like for posing.
where you buy it and when will it be on amazon????
I bought this in Tokyo. SH Figuarts is not allowed to sell Star Wars outside of Japan. You’ll need to find a Japanese retailer or seller if you’re looking to buy it.
I already have revenge of the Jedi Darth Vader. I’m just going to make a wired cloth cape and tunic for him instead of buying a whole other figure.
Can never have too many Vaders. I have two Jedi Vaders myself
Where can I get theses in Los Angeles
Umm I believe Big Bad Toy Store is selling this online
Great review! I am really enjoying this figure. Blessings
Thanks for watching!
Just got mine today and idk if you noticed it but it's on mine too there is silver paint on the left cheek of the mask but not the right 😅 idk if that's intentional but odd to me
On the regular mask? I didn’t notice it before. I’ll have to take a look.
@KaijuDaddyJapan yeah the regular mask ...apparently it's supposed to be there its screen accurate I've never noticed it's also on the black series vader
Holy smokes you’re right!!!
It is accurate because they couldn't capture the Darth Vader face on film in the original trilogy if it was all black
Learn something new every day. Thank you.
Where can i buy this figure
Have you checked the normal online shops that carry SH Figuarts? AmiAmi, Hobby Link Japan, Amazon?
@@KaijuDaddyJapan yes and none of them have that specific one
Yes I just did a quick check. Seems all of the normal export companies have sold out. Are you new to Figuarts collecting?

You might want to try eBay. I’ll be heading to a few stores on Friday and can see if they are still in stock anywhere here.
