    Hi Ricardo! Great job! Your videos are very useful and you are very nice and funny. Would you please make a video about the documentation required to stay at the Albergues? During my latest trips I was often required to provide the so called Covid-Pass/Green Pass to certify that I had either been vaccinated or recovered from Covid. What's the current situation on the Camino? Is there any specific requirement? Thanks and keep up the great job you are doing. 🤗

    If you have your phone , you can use the translation apps to read menus, ask people questions, and communicate with people in any language (even if you’re fluent in Spanish, pilgrims are from all over).
    In off season, and many trails other than the Frances, you’ll need to make phone calls and texts (WhatsApp ) to find a place to stay. I walked 33 km on Frances I’m cold (sub zero) windy, rainy weather (somehow it wasn’t snow, but feels like temp below 0 from wind). And no food or Albergue or anything but water fountains as I passed through ghost towns. Also, there are plenty of useless signs that say “Albergue 1km”off trail with an arrow. And you get there and see it’s closed from the season. Or closed because it’s Tuesday.
    You want to know the weather and elevation changes to plan your day.
    The phone and apps weigh less than books.
    Booking dot com is convenient for reservations and info. The Wise Pilgrim app shows what albergues and pensioned and hotels are on booking and you can link there from the app. You can also see prices to compare. And call the Albergue and perhaps get a cheaper rate in person.
    Not bringing your phone puts you at risk if an emergency happens or if you find somebody who has an emergency and you can help.
    You can google every town or village and find articles and video for history and culture.
    Also good to know where in different towns you can do laundry, find a pharmacy, etc. and just knowing what’s in an app or map isn’t enough…in Spain, you should always call to confirm before going out of your way to a store.
    To avoid using your phone all day while walking, just put it away until break time. Lastly, there are many side trails on the Camino and bad markers that lead you astray. With Wise Pilgrim, I can see where I am using the gps/map on the app, so in dark conditions or where it’s confusing which way to go in a fork in the road, the app shows you.

      @caminotellers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for this deep dive into pros of the Mobile phone/app use! It certainly make a lot of sense. If one can control it's reactions and keep the phone in "silence mode" that might be a way to go. But of course, there is also another way to go, like it use to be and people could manage... I use to read books about great adventurers that went traveling all over the world without even a book, not mentioning the app... And this is a traveling way that seems more interesting to me, when possible!
      With all your argument I can actually make a next videos "why to use the app" ! ;) sending you a big hug my friend
