  • This video will be divided into two parts. In the first part of this video the composition, structure and types of dentin is explained and in its second part about the process of dentin formation or dentinogenesis.
    dentin is the second mineralized tissue of the body. its harder than bone but softer than enamel.and has three main types namely the primary, secondary and tertiary dentin. The primary dentin is further divided into the mantle dentin and the circumpulpal dentin.
    Dentinogenesis or the process of dentin formation begins at late bell stage. The cells of the dental papilla are differentiated through the signaling molecules and growth factors released from the inner enamel epithelium. The cells of the dental papilla differentiates immediately after the cells of the inner enamel epithelium are differentiated into ameloblasts.
    After the cells of the dental papilla is differentiated into preodontoblasts they will form the first layer of mantle predentin up to their maturation. Once they become mature they will start depositing the circumpulpal dentin until the root formation of a tooth is completed. The secondary dentin is formed slowly after the root formation of a tooth is completed and the tertiary dentin starts depositing locally after any localized injury to the tooth like caries or any any restorative procedure.

    amazing video as usual. just a question, in the very last sentence you said (( In this way, a layer of pre-dentin is always present between the odontoblasts and the mineralization plant )) or did I hear it wrong ?

    • @DentalManiaK
      @DentalManiaK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Islam Saleh , you heard it right. Predentin is the newly formed dentin and when it mineralizes it becomes the mature dentin . So from inside (pulp) to outside, the layers are odontoblasts -> predentin -> mature dentin(mineralization front).
