  • In this video, the process of dentin formation is described. The dentin formation begins at the bell stage of tooth development. When the odontoblasts are differentiated from the dental papilla cells they start secreting an organic matrix called pre-dentin. This predentin mineralizes to form the mature dentin. Near the dentino enamel junction, this dentin is known as mantle dentin. We have also discussed in this video the formation of primary secondary and tertiary dentin. In addition, the vascular changes that occur during dentinogenesis were also described.

Hi I have a problem with 7 years old daughter tooth #1 upper one on the right side. Looks like the tooth did not form the enamel correctly. I heard that ameloblasts disappear with time and enamel will not grow anymore . I can send the picture to show. Do you think enamel can grow at age 7 yet. The second tooth the left one started to grow out and looks fine. Any thoughts, advice?

@@olsza6969 if it's an enamel defect then often keeping the tooth clean and preventing decay with fluoride can be effective until it's restored for aesthetics.
