Im a Bron fan but he is really bad defensively for the past couple of years. He is old, it is what it is. But offensively this year, he has been really bad as a ball handler. He still has moments, but I think he needs to be on the post more or on a screen action. He is not a elite ball handler anymore, but given the roster, he still has to at times which is frustrating
Lebron slowing down both offensively and defensively is so jarring to me. Genuinely feel like he might be done
He said when he felt like he couldn’t help the team win and play at a high level he would be done. He is still playing great most nights but he just can’t be as consistent.
I would say he’s playing great only about half the time, the other half he’s a net defensive and offensive liability because of his poor efficiency on those off nights.
@@mv3507 Their last few games his shot has fallen off but the way he started and still has played he is a great player and better than most. Even with poor defense most nights he makes up for it on offense and rebounding. There are plenty of great offense players who don’t play defense so let’s stop that now. 🤣

LBJ has been selective and regressing with defense since 2019, it’s just becoming more noticeable when AD cannot cover for him or put the blame on another coach when the team is not successful

I've noticed this since 2017. He's been laid back on that end since then. The one year he seemed to be putting in some effort after that was 2020.

This is why we can’t hold leads. We gain the lead because the opposing team plays down to us really. Once the other team puts any kind of pressure it’s over. By the time lakers try to fight back they are often on the other side of the momentum swing

Also the Lakers had the easiest schedule in the NBA to start the season. They were barely beating the worst teams in the league so it should be no surprise that when they play actual playoff caliber teams, the Lakers get destroyed. JJ is a terrible coach and it's easy for everyone to see that he doesn't hold his players accountable or have any input on what's happening on the court.

LeBron needs to accept being a lesser role on the team. It was already obvious last season and even before that that he was becoming somewhat inconsistent defensively.

Not only is Lebron trash on defense, but he also complains A LOT which brings sets a terrible mood for the team. Dude causes the same effect as Luke, though you can at least explain it with Bron as he is 40.

The main problem is they have too many defensive “liabilities” on the roster. Some are passable as they provide offensive bron, reaves, etc. as a lakers fan who has watched almost all their games this season, i can confidently say they have the worst bench in the nba. Lack of size shooting defensive playmaking.
It’s only those bad habits that will stop the Lakers from being competitive in the playoffs
4:10 mark: This one is not on DK. But you can see the inexperience. He's the lowman, HE HAS CLEAR vision on the ball and the action (The action is the rip screen form MPJ) LOOK at where the ball is.
Next time you see this, you need to blow up the play. Obviously, this is bang bang, but this is the type of defense you need to be aware of. You need to react to the action. (Like when AD+Bron blew up the hammer player against the warriors 2 years ago)

4:50 mark: DK again too inexperienced. He's guarding booker, but faills to reconize the double stagger/rip screens coming for KD. You are guarding Booker AND KD here, because if AD gets caught on the 2nd stagger/rip screen.It's your rotation, by the time you see that AR can't recover. You needed to communicate the AD/AR somehow that you were gonna get in front of KD.
Again, not DK fault. But that's how you break the action. This is a good lesson for when the guy guarding the 2nd guy on the stagger to anticipate rotating to the ball handler and then have the original guy cover the counter (which would be the skip pass to booker when he relocates to the 3pt). If BOOK slips, you need DLO to be the lowman here (because Book is on DLO side)

SQUARE up to KD, you literally gave up both the pocket pass and gave KD the penetration to your left.
You slide your hips the opposite way, and you run KD into the lowman and cover the pocket pass.

Lebron antics of not getting back and complaining set an example as the leader. You even see AD do the same. Both Lebron and AD not running back on D is why they're so terrible in transition D. This is why I don't believe any trade will move the needle for them to contend. They can get the best 3&D wing defender and they'll still lose to teams that have all 5 that can defend.
Also I think why they're so bad this year compared to last is because their new star boy Dalton is somehow worse than Bron defensively when Bron doesn't even try.
Having Him and Bron on the floor for most of the game isn't winning you many games unless they're teams dead last in the standings. Even then they barely manage to win those games.
The chemistry of DLO-AR-Rui-Bron-AD is still their best line up with a proven track record, but because they lost b2b to good teams Nuggets and Suns (former beating them like 15 out of the 16 games), JJ figured it was time to change the lineup because the one with Dalton beat teams well below .500 😂

LBJ has defensive qualities and capabilities. Those tendencies should not be absent in his system even in old age. He just refuses to play consistent D.
@@EdwardWindhowlthere was an interview where lebron was talking about the art of resting on court. That was more than 6 years ago. He's definitely gassed out there. He can't play hard defense on every possession anymore.
