  • Help me decide how I can turn my very boring Geneva blouse into a work of art!

I prefer the sashiko for this shirt and maybe the patches on a heavier jacket-type top. Pattern drafting intimidates me but I bet you'll have lots of company on that journey and I wish you well!

cool ideas both, one thing to consider is that patches and embroidery would be heavy and might stiffen the shirt . I also have lots of fitting issues and have a bodice block that i use to just adjust any patterns I buy. would be great to get more support in that area! Sleeves are my nemesis

I think the sashiko would make it so pretty.

both embellishment options sound interesting. i think you should consider what your end use intention is and then decide. i'd imagine that you could still wear the sashiko shirt to work for example, but maybe not the graffiti version (at least at my work it'd be a no-go). or would you not wear it at all and it's more of an art piece? something to ponder.

I think sashiko would be lovely on your shirt! So funny because you have been looking for a simple V neck blouse and I’ve been wanting more details at the neck and shoulders such as frills, collars and flouces. I think your shirt would be stunning in a viscose or linen. Super excited about you starting a membership! I might even join at some point (particularly interested in a pants sloper because I don’t wear skirts and I already started on my bodice sloper).

Hi Carol, I was going to say embroidery also but I never heard of the Japanese embroidery.
