There definitely need to be harsher punishments for license-less drivers. Driving at least 10 times per week without a license? It’s a miracle that nothing worse came from that. If the dad’s so concerned about how much the kid’s spending on an Uber, tell him to either A. Get his license B. Get a bike or C. Get a bus schedule.

In the UK they give them points on the license they don't have or disqualify them. Then when they go legal the points mean they will have to pay a lot more in insurance. Oh and if you have no license then the car isn't insured which is an automatic seizure of the vehicle in the UK. To get the car back you have to pay a fine and whatever towing and storage fees. If you fail to do that in a set time they turn your car into a cube. I see them on TV when they catch people without insurance they literally make the person turf everything they own out of the car and just leave them there to either call someone or pay for a taxi to get them amd their stuff home.

He willingly knew his son did not have a drivers license and he still was like well. He had to go to work no the Dad should’ve been taking his son to work and picking him up or splitting the Uber cost with his son or tell his son to get on a public bus And get as close to Work as he can in that public bus and then walk another 10 or 15 minutes to get to work I know so many people that can’t afford a car or they don’t have their drivers license and they do that they take a public bus They get dropped off at the nearest bus stop closest to their work and they may be walk tops 20 or 30 minutes the rest of the way to their work. This is a perfect example of a parent THINKING theyre doing right by their child by offering them an easy way out. The easiest choice is never the right choice. The right choice would be setting boundaries, having consequences, holding him accountable & leading by example. Instead dad just "begs" him to get a license and still gives him an easy out.
It was easier to let him drive unlicensed or pay an uber than to put in the WORK, i.e. forcing him to stay in the house to study until he can ace the drivers exam, putting in hours teaching him to drive, setting strict rules such as: you're 18 but if you want to live in my house, you wont be out running the streets, being irresponsible & making bad choices...instead of hanging with friends you're gonna buy a bus pass and go find/keep a damn job and get a drivers license.

Insisting on arrest doesn't help. I had an unlicensed teenager with no proof of insurance sideswipe my new car two weeks after I bought it while I was stopped at a red light. The permanent license plate hadn't even arrived yet, and it was already damaged. She and her passenger stood there giggling like schoolgirls while the responding officer wagged his finger at them for a second and let them go without even a ticket. When I protested, he shrugged and said, "That's why it's called an accident."

What part of the USA doesn’t have required bus take every student to school? It might not be cool like having a car. You might not be able to stay after school and do sports. But even the smallest, ruralest counties in the USA are required to provide transport of students to school.

And I'm sure dad the beggar, let him drive it all the time. Those " like me" points where more important to the father than helping his son do something necessary for himself.
