So i went to the dentist today with my parents. I got my braces and was told my teeth should be straight after a year. They said everything is gonna be fine, and its just gonna hurt a little. Me a few hours after having them on: *MiStAKEs hAVe bEen mAdE!!*
Tip for braces pain! 1) Try to distract yourself. This could be anything like reading, sleeping, watching TV, texting. Do something that you love and that should help distract yourself from the pain. Right now I am watching TH-cam to distract myself.😂 2) SLEEP! Just sleep! This helps so much! If you cannot get to sleep, have an icy cold glass of water next to your bed and have some whenever the pain gets unbearable. 3) Gently massaging your mouth and jaw helps. Make sure you don't push too hard, or if it hurts don't continue this. 4) Use an electric water flosser! I found that this actually helps a lot for temporary relief of pain. You can buy these in chemists or The Shaver Shop. These are normally very expensive but trust me! It is worth it! I hope this helped some of you! I got my braces on today and I found that this helps sooo much. This and of course what Emma said. 😅 Good luck with your braces all of you! 💜

The day i first got my braces was hell. I didnt feel much pain in the beginning but after a few hours it hurts like crazy. And the pain lasted for like a week. Update: I got my braces and they didn’t hurt until the next day. Make sure you take an Advil (any pain killer) before you get them on. Don’t stress out because it is not as bad as people make it look!!!! Ice cream really helps, same with avoiding crunchy and hard food for a few days. Wax is best for sores in your mouth, or if you get hit in the face (according to my orthodontist). Again, don’t stress out because it is not horrible pain. 😁 Thank you guys for answering my questions. If your still reading, from what I’ve leaned, the straiter your teeth are (before you get braces), the less it will hurt. If you have teeth that are not close to straight, it will probably hurt a lot more (but you’ll survive). NOT EATING HARD FOOD WILL HELP I PROMISE!!!

Michael Myers take a painkiller and hour before you get them on and eat ice cream on the first day it only hurts on the first day on its own it hurts a decent amount but not enough pain to make you cry, after the first day they won’t hurt unless you chew so I’d say eat ice cream mostly for a week

Okay newbies I’ve had braces for 2 years and I’m getting them off in 5 months so... if u want your teeth to move faster don’t take ibuprofen/Advil cause it slows down tooth movement take Tylenol instead and your teeth will move faster
The first week is the worst from what I can remember from when I had them. It sucks. Take painkillers and eat ice cream. Beg your parents to take you back to get then off. It’s not worth all the pain just to have straight teeth.

tip: don't chew on the rice. i let the flavor soak then swallow small amounts. did it before braces to.
Tip for braces pain!
1) Try to distract yourself. This could be anything like reading, sleeping, watching TV, texting. Do something that you love and that should help distract yourself from the pain. Right now I am watching TH-cam to distract myself.😂
2) SLEEP! Just sleep! This helps so much! If you cannot get to sleep, have an icy cold glass of water next to your bed and have some whenever the pain gets unbearable.
3) Gently massaging your mouth and jaw helps. Make sure you don't push too hard, or if it hurts don't continue this.
4) Use an electric water flosser! I found that this actually helps a lot for temporary relief of pain. You can buy these in chemists or The Shaver Shop. These are normally very expensive but trust me! It is worth it!
I hope this helped some of you! I got my braces on today and I found that this helps sooo much. This and of course what Emma said. 😅 Good luck with your braces all of you! 💜

The day i first got my braces was hell. I didnt feel much pain in the beginning but after a few hours it hurts like crazy. And the pain lasted for like a week. I had to eat nothing but porridge the entire time. The same thing happens when i get my braces tightened, but the pain only lasts for few days..

Update: I got my braces and they didn’t hurt until the next day. Make sure you take an Advil (any pain killer) before you get them on. Don’t stress out because it is not as bad as people make it look!!!! Ice cream really helps, same with avoiding crunchy and hard food for a few days. Wax is best for sores in your mouth, or if you get hit in the face (according to my orthodontist). Again, don’t stress out because it is not horrible pain. 😁 Thank you guys for answering my questions.
If your still reading, from what I’ve leaned, the straiter your teeth are (before you get braces), the less it will hurt. If you have teeth that are not close to straight, it will probably hurt a lot more (but you’ll survive). NOT EATING HARD FOOD WILL HELP I PROMISE!!!

Okay newbies I’ve had braces for 2 years and I’m getting them off in 5 months so... if u want your teeth to move faster don’t take ibuprofen/Advil cause it slows down tooth movement take Tylenol instead and your teeth will move faster

The first week is the worst from what I can remember from when I had them. It sucks. Take painkillers and eat ice cream. Beg your parents to take you back to get then off. It’s not worth all the pain just to have straight teeth.

I got my braces on today, and they weren't really rubbing against my cheeks or hurting, so I treated myself to some crisps that I saved for later... And then I ate them miserably... I used my fingers to break them down and then eat them. I'm so hungry... I won't survive two years not eating lol

I usually suck on the chips because I can’t chew them but I always decide to eat them anyways

Nadeem Amanah he/she is just over exaggerating. It’s not that painful, just very very irritating. After a week I felt no pain, just a small bit when I ate. After 3 weeks trust me, there’s no pain at all

@External Way It will get better! Its only day 4 so it's reasonable that it's still hurting. Also depends on your pain threshold.

I got my braces on about 7 months ago and the 2nd day I had them on I went to a friends house and she has a little sister. So I was walking up the stairs her sister was walking down the stairs she jumped up for me to hold her and she hit me in the mouth. Only people with braces would understand the pain😭😭
