- For the past couple years, the #FordMaverick has been a huge success for #Ford when the company decided to bring the #Maverick back to the US. The latest #MaverickLariat is still the top trim, but it continues to be an excellent small truck for buyers who didn’t realize they needed a truck. The #MaverickHybrid continues to be the fuel economy leader, but its affordable price, insane practicality, and easy to drive nature makes this truck a solid choice for many consumers.

At $37k that Maverick is no longer good bang for the buck. At $37k you might as well get the midsized Frontier which has better horsepower, torque, payload, towing, ground clearance, etc.. An entry priced trim Ranger would be a better choice as well. When the Maverick was launched it was priced $20k-$32k but it seems those days are over.
But won't get the mpg on the frontier.. but do agree it's too much for 37k

I ordered a Maverick Hybrid. It took 19 months to arrive. In that time the price had gone up $5400. I told the dealer to keep it. As a customer we have the power to walk away.
Sidenote: look at all the recalls on the Maverick.
Ford has a hit on their hands and...they know it. The automotive media has pretty much universally (from Consumer Reports to Car & Driver) said this Maverick, especially the hybrid, is the smallish truck to own.
Sadly for 2024 Ford made the hybrid the extra cost engine instead of the base engine, is yeah it suddenly went way up in price. My 22 hybrid has had 7 recalls so far, all software updates. Questionable considering some of the issues would seem to be mechanical design issues.
Wouldn’t you have agreed on a price at the time of ordering? That’s crazy though…

@@Ricky-mo6mv Ford did offer me what they called a “private offer “ of $3000. But when I ordered the standard motor was the hybrid. Ford changed that and made it a $1500 option. After having to wait 19 months I was over it.
It’s a neat little truck, but it only makes sense to me if you’re getting a lower trim. Otherwise if you’re over 35k, I’d fetch it up a little more and go for a Honda ridgeline.

@@tungol00 Yeah XL/XLT and that price point makes sense for me. Maverick Lariats in Canada can get close to $50k and at that point, I'd go Ridgeline.

Yup. You go from a base model thinking "how can this thing be so great for the price?" to sitting in the "higher" models thinking "this leaves a lot to be desired for the price."
@@compuserveuser2779 Yeah. The new 2025 Maverick looks nicer, but that price jump seems a little crazy. To me, there's little to no reason to buy a Lariat Maverick over a Ridgeline except for personality now.
One thing that all reviewers leave out is the fact that it can be flat towed. That is the reason I bought my 2024 hybrid maverick lariat. It has excellent fuel mileage and good features. It sure beats the price of A jeep.
I got my Lariat a year ago. It is perfect for me. I average close to 50 mpg on country roads.
From $19999.99 to $37,330, what a joke of a price increase.
The rear window does power slide open. The button is hidden near the push button start button.

I just got a 2024 Maverick XL with the four cylinder turbo. I like the power and it’s all wheel drive for the price it’s worth it. I’m not happy with the steel wheels 🛞 but I will get black wheels and a little lift kit.

I had one. Spent a lot of time at the dealer… ford bought it back and I got an explorer. Buyer beware.

I'm owning the Maverick AWD FX4. It's handling very well, probably the best compared to hybrid or even Tremor. It drives like a compact SUV and very sporty.
This is such a cool little truck, but it's not so cheap when you go for a lariat 😢
Best Ford vehicle ever launched ever and sales growth remains solid unlike the Toyota Tacoma disaster that appears to be spreading. This is just a great truck for modding and the like which has gone out the window thanks to Tesla. There are serious issues such as with the CVT that must get rectified and I'm not sure about the hybrid system....but at least it has one. This is an actual work truck as well contrary to popular opinion as new trucks have gotten *WAY* too big this being an exception to that. Now if only Dodge would come out with a new Dakota..
I looked for 6 months and I got many sales people nuts.Then I ended up with 2023 Ford Maverick XLT fully loaded Red Tremor with black appearance and it’s fantastic.
Cheap plastic is great
Tremor is high off the ground
Full size spare tire
Square shape great for vision
Light tinted I love it
AC works great
Heat works great
Seats very comfortable
Easy to park in Brooklyn
Sounds system is fine
Bed is good enough for basic needs.
Lots of head room for tall guys
Goes over bumps in way that makes you feel safe
The interior color is fine.
My back window doesn’t have that chicken window with light tin great view out the back.
The non tremors doesn’t look good but higher off the ground Tremor looks FINE.
I only wanted gas and no hybrid.
It’s easy to drive
I wish Ford blind spot and lane keeping would make sounds😥also it need a better front bumper so I could put a bull bar😥
Now that I know the Maverick has an Aisin trans, I'm sold.
This truck is for everyone looking for practicality, MPG, confort, utility, space, fun, and a compact daily driver. Both engines are reliable and great to have! Don’t hesitate! I have 2 Mavericks! It’s all most people will ever need.
this is a perfect daily commuter, multi-purpose, and activity vehicle. the fact it has an Aisin 8spd, this one should last long time without a major issue.
My husband and I got a hybrid one earlier this year, and are really liking it.
I got that exact model to tow motorcycles. 2k isn't quite enough, I need about 4k. I want AWD to get around in light snow. Also, I wouldn't buy a hybrid unless it was super fast and could power a house in a power outtage or had an actually benefit. I like having the stop and go adaptive cruise with lane centering for rush hour traffic.
Someone may have mentions this but at 11:15 you can see the switch, next to the usb ports, to open the rear sliding window.
I am a normal joe, a DIY guy... this truck should have been a all rounder for me, a hybrid to save gas, small enough to use a daily driver and last to haul stuff and also support a small family. but they effed up by not including a mid gate. I mean having a mid gate like avalance makes it so easy for camping and hadling something like a table or sofa so easy. the current truck bed is too small to even hold a queen mattress. the lack of customer centric thinking and not having the for sight to think through this stuff.... I wonder if Ford employees even drive their cars and provide feedback. its just sad. this vehicle ha so much potential.
The HYBRID is $1500 extra, not $500
I bought a 23 Maverick Lariat Hybrid for a handful of good reasons. 1. I dont tow anything. 2. It is within an inch in length of my 08 LaCrosse that it replaced. 3. After 4000 miles of local driving im averaging 40.8 mpg. 4. For the 38k that I paid (because i ordered mine as opposed to buying it off a lot) im in a similarly loaded compact SUV, but thats not nearly as fun as this little trucklet.
38k is 10k less than the avg new car. And about 1/2 the cost of most full size trucks or SUVs. I bought 2 Lariats I show on my videos.

I don't get the craze over the Maverick. At 23k it was a good buy. At 37k it doesn't make sense to me. It has as many options as a base model midsize truck for a higher cost.

Hopefully they optimize manufacturing with the refresh. Production has been messy and costing feels like a cash grab to subsidize EV losses.

Well everyone is wrong because what makes a truck a truck is the utility not it being a body on frame. I'd also point out that at one point all cars were body on frame the last of which was the Crown Vic so using that logic then the Crown Vic was a truck 🤷♂

LOL the Ridgeline has the same or better specs for the same money, except with Honda you get way better reliability and several more options for the same price. WTF Over, Ford Could have beat Honda, but for some reason, decided not to.
Yeah but transverse mounted V6..... No thank you. My brother had pilot with the same engine layout. Had to replace a part on the engine but had to remove the entire front end.

Honda ridgeline is way bigger. 79" wide. Same width as a F-150. Maverick is a compact by design.

It used to be that the 2.0L turbo required an up-charge with the hybrid being standard.

My $38k Tacoma has less features than the $38k Lariat trim. When I sold my 2023 Lariat to get a 2023 Tacoma I lost a lot features - heated seats/steering wheel, AWD, Lane centering, BLIS, Collision mitigation, ACC w/ stop-n-go, remote start, acoustic insulated front glass, heated mirrors, LED headlights, LED Daytime running lights and more.
Ford should offer this with regular and extened cabs with longer boxes.

Great little truck, but it's a shame Ford has priced it where it no longer makes sense for most buyers. Pushing 40 grand with taxes will get you a very nice Rav4 or CR-V

@@RLTtizME I totally agree. Initially the Maverick appealed to me because it offered anyone looking for a new vehicle that was relatively affordable a great option. The fact that it was a truck was a bonus to some buyers. For most buyers it didn't matter, it was just an affordable option that wasn't a Corolla. It offered something different for about $25,000

The hybrids were never easy to get, the 2.0 turbos have been fairly easy. I think..
Pretty strong rumors that Ford is going to offer awd for the 2025 Maverick Hybrid. They're still having problems with production capacity and that continues to affect pricing. A $37k Maverick doesn't make nearly as much sense as a $25k one.
I thought about the Maverick and going to pass. Why? I'd rather have a real gear selector. Two the interior looks cheap and packed in too many control buttons in a small area. They are still having problems with the Ecoboost. My old one popped the coil packs at 80k and at 85, the EGR system was messing up or it was the head gasket. I'll wait for the Toyota Stout or the Mazda BT-50 (if they bring it over).
No Hybrid with AWD cuts off the cold weather customers. I can’t buy anything without 4x4 or at least AWD. No remote start is a bummer as well. MPG plus 4x4 is what the people want

Why do these reviewers pretend these are a good deal? 37k is a absolute ripoff. It's built like crap in Mexico. You can get a Frontier 4x4 for the same price.
At this price get a Ridgeline or frontier.
Except they marked up their prices too. In Canada a Ridgeline starts at $55k before taxes etc.

Bingo! Why do so few people seem to understand that it is less about vehicles being worth more than it is about our money that we use to measure their value being worth less because the government is stealing it from us? I guess a constantly shrinking yardstick is hard to comprehend.
Great truck but some information in the video needs corrected or correction. The Maverick tremor has 9.4 inches of ground clearance. The Maverick non hybrid has similar leg room and more headroom than the Honda Ridgeline. Yes it is wider but doesn't give you more room where it is needed that the video portrayed. Also FYI cubic ft bed on the Maverick 33.4, Ridgeline 33.9 Santa Cruz 27. Car and driver claims the Ford Maverick got 5.9 from 0 to 60, probably the fastest time for all three brands mentioned in the video.
Also the video said the Ford Maverick being lower made it easier to enter. Which is true but it also has the most ground clearance for the 3 vehicles mentioned in the video. The Honda Ridgeline is 7.6 inches the Santa Cruz is 8.6 the Ford Maverick hybrid 8.3 the AWD 8.6 and the optional tremor is 9.4 inches of ground clearance.
It's a great truck and surprisingly not that small at all in comparison. Add the additional advantage of ground clearance, trailer towing capabilities and payload capabilities it is a very capable truck. Almost forgot about the great mileage which definitely leads the truck industry.
Just for reference Ford can not keep up with the demand and many couldn't wait to order and at the same time couldn't find what they wanted on the lot. So in these situations many bought other vehicles. The video touched on that by stating Ford had to stop the ordering. Still in 2023 Ford sold almost 2 to 1 for every Ridgeline and almost 3 to 1 for every Santa Cruz. I'm wondering once Ford can up production and offering the hybrid in AWD what kind of numbers it will generate.

I don't know if you reviewers live in the real world. Yes the Ranger tows better, but it is also significantly more expensive. In the real world cost matters a great deal.
You can get a Ranger STX for under $35k sticker price.

Not to mention the ranger has basically the same interior room. for a significantly larger truck with worse MPG, unless you NEED to tow, get a maverick.
As many others have said, $35K plus defeats the whole purpose of this truck, as does getting the turbo engine instead of the hybrid. In doing those two things you have ruined the affordability by making it cost the same or more than better, more capable rivals and by massively increasing the cost of ownership due to much higher fuel costs vs the hybrid. The hybrid powertrain has also proven to be the more reliable one, so that's 3 reasons it makes more sense.
If you're splurging $35K for this you're much better off getting something like a Toyota Tacoma that will have a more usable bed and better hauling and towing capacity while only being slightly worse on fuel at 23 mpg vs 25 mpg combined. Toyota also has a better reliability record. Getting a Taco seems like a much better choice.
A Taco at this spec would be $50k or more

They sold 100,000 of them. You look online there's probably 500 lariats within 25 mi of you being sold with less than 10,000 MI on them. You can get them for around $30,000 with 10k-20k miles.

Will the transmission last longer than 65k miles? Last Ford I had transmission blew up. Started having transmission issues within 30k miles. Dealership said it was fine. Once warranty was out suddenly it needed to be replaced according to dealership. Ford also new they had issues with cam phasers and wouldn’t cover those being replaced either. Poor customer service. Tried to get help from cooperate but didn’t get much help. Went to service manager wife got yelled at. Went to General manager who was professional but response I got was “people make mistakes”. I appreciated the apology from the general manager however will most likely not own a FORD again.
That 8 speed has been around for years. Plenty to go look at with over 100k on them.
