For some reason I feel like Inkling would do well in the current meta of the game with better representation. What do you think?

Not really; even at top level, their game plan is predictable and don’t have many reliable mix ups.
Back air spam fishing for jab and grab until they are at kill %. Then up smash out of shield, up throw up air, and roller are you’re only consistent kill options. And the problem with all of those options is that they are countered by what is currently favored in the meta, being spacing and fast options.
In terms of matchups, Inkling does poorly against 4 horsemen of the meta, and only do well when they can effectively bait bad options out of characters, which most meta characters have way too many safe options to allow Inkling many openings. She does fine against Roy and Cloud, but that’s it.
