I'm glad I'm not the only one that does the McDonalds thing. When I was working on Cruise Ships in the 90s, a group of our would always hit the McDonalds first and compare it with the UK version.

You could point out the difference in sizes between US and European McDonalds.
Small drinks UK 250ml, USA 475ml.
Medium drinks UK 146ml, USA 621ml.
Large drinks 500ml, USA 946ml.
Big Macs should be the same size though.
What you can't see is the difference in ingredients. Many of the chemical ingredients used in American food are not used or are even banned in the EU and the UK. One example is the chips (fries).
In the USA - potatoes, canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavour, dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate.
In the UK - potatoes, sunflower or rapeseed oil, salt

I went to a McDonalds once. It was inedible. Later I used to walk past McDonalds London Bridge every day - it occasionally made me feel slightly sick and I appreciated Guy's Hospital being next door. Then at work a year or so back somebody very kindly brought me in an egg McMuffin. It sat on my stomach all day. I can't believe some people eat there deliberately
