Well, the movie isn't crap and Midnight Cowboy won a lot of awards. Perfect song for Midnight Cowboy. Great movie, great acting by Dustin Hoffman & Jon Voight.
Cynthia...Of all the great songs shared on here, this is the music I want to be listening to when I am driving on long road trips, or when I've grown tired of scanning for FM staions playing classic rock. It's hauntingly beautiful, and song for the ages that takes me back decades.
I love this song too. The movie was a big hit in the US. In the states, TH-cam has this movie to buy or rent. Also scenes for free. My dad played harmonica. I still get chills when I hear 'Moon River'. He did a great cover. 😘
Nilsson's "Everybody's Talking" was from this movie. "Born to be Wild" was from the movie Easy Rider, Harri. Midnight Cowboy won 7 Oscars and 6 BAFTA awards. It is worth seeing for that reason alone.
The movie was nominated for 7 Academy Awards but only won 3 (best picture, director & screenplay). It should of won best actor (Jon Voight or Dustin Hoffman) It should also won for best soundtrack, if they had such a thing.
Midnight Cowboy (film - 1969) Academy Awards - Best Picture - won, Best Director - won, Best Screenplay (based on material from another medium) - won. Nominated for Best Actor - Dustin Hoffman, John Voight. Nominated for Best Supporting Actress - Sylvia Miles. Received X rating (unsuitable for children) from Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) - the only film to ever win Best Picture with that rating.
Beautiful chromatic harmonica playing by the composer himself. Most pop, folk, blues and rock harmonica players play a diatonic harmonica (which only contains the notes of a specific scale). Stevie Wonder, on the other hand, played a chromatic harmonica.
Came here to say this, Harri wants to learn how to play Harmoncia, he should get a Chromatic one, I really enjoyed mine because you can hit more notes.
From the start of the song that bluesy harmonica just draws you into this masterpiece of a song. Then as you said the bass and the strings are added to absolutely construct a classic. Beautiful. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Cynthia. Such a pleasurable treat. 😊👍✌️🇨🇦 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Midnight Cowboy is a very poignant film which I believe is reflected in the title track. This was a breakthrough film for Jon Voight (and of course Hoffman was brilliant) and if you like his performance, I would recommend a film called “Conrack” -1974 which I’m sure you will enjoy. Cheers Harri.
Harri every song on the album from the movie is fabulous, Harri you have to see this incredible movie "" Midnight Cowboy "" get a hankerchief cause its a tear jerker, it dont get no better Dustin Hoffman and John Voight Angelina 's dad. Harri you will watch it twice, Thanks Harri your the Best no pun intended. 😀😁😎
😇 TRULY!!. The Most Amazing Song I've Heard... When I Was 6 Years Old (1971) My Mother (Bless) Bought The Single For Me. It Sent Me Places In My Mind, Heart & Soul.. The Fluctuations/Vibration Still Hits Me Today Brother, Makes A BIG difference To Any Track. I Cannot Praise 🙏 This Song Enough.. Thank You For Putting This Song Back In My Memories ❤ Regards With Respect - TwoTone (Anthony H) UK - A Old Double Bass Player ;)
I hope you have now seen the film. Delighted you liked this wonderful, atmospheric and mood-creating theme from the superb film,"Midnight Cowboy". John Barry at his best, the theme Complements the rather dark topic .Given that the film dates from about 1969 it is not surprising you had not seen it.Strangely enough I had a conversation with a much younger person than myself a couple of months ago who was raving about this wonderful theme, and the power of the film.I pointed out that it is a pity that film lovers often only cover current film releases, rather than look at some older films and film scores. You mention "Born to be Wild",which of course comes from "Easy Rider",a ground-breaking film ,which also dates to about 1969.And a good film with excellent music becomes a great film, and timeless !
A forgotten little instrument, but so critical to many, many songs during the 50s, 60s, and 70s. From Western themes to hard rocking pop, it adds a unique touch! And then, of course, there was that old trio of guys Jerry Murad's Harmonicats! Waaay before Elvis, their song Peg O' My Heart spent over 20 weeks (1947) on the Billboard magazine chart, even reaching no.1. What? You've never Heard a bass harmonica??
This is great! If you enjoyed the harmonica on this, you'll also enjoy the work John Barry did for the film 'Inside Moves'. Some of the most touching harmonica playing that I know of.
I have as one of my favorite albums John Barry's Moviola. About 10 of his sound track songs, just wonderful. Dancing with wolves, Somehere in time James Bond...my ears just love it, after a bit you can start to pick out his sound in other movies🙂
For this must listen to the Auther Ferrante & Louis Teicher Midnight Cowboy. Put out in 69 piano and guitar sounds like water drops. Laid in my room at night just listening over and over with my 45. But need also see Ferrante & Teicher on 2 grand pianos facing each other doing with piano. both are worth the time. Never heard the harmonica version before.
Toots Thielemans played the harmonica for the movie soundtrack. Tommy Reilly actually played the harmonica on the official album of the movie soundtrack, subsequently released.
most beautiful harmonica pisce intregal to the great movie which u absolutly must see harri it will move tou like the harmonica piece please watch it MIDNIGHT COWBOY 1969
Harri, will this be the song you serenade us with when you've completed your harmonica training? Don't think we've forgotten your promise, mate, hehheh!
Harri, I've said it before so if you haven't reacted to it yet you must listen to School by Supertramp with its amazingly haunting harmonica intro. Its the lead song off their all-time classic album Crime of the Century. Among other great rock/pop songs featuring the harmonica are Midnight Rambler by The Rolling Stones and For Once In My Life by Stevie Wonder.
A great movie and very sad. Joe Buck is a tragic character. I believe it was the first movie given an "X" rating because of content not for any nudity or showing sexual acts. I
Be prepared... the movie has nothing to do with cowboys or horses! John Voight moves from Texas to NY City to be a gigolo and make money off rich women.
I was a 16 year old theater usher when this movie was released. I've seen it 300 times. I'll never grow tired of it. Same thing with The Graduate.
First class music for an excellent film
It's a wonderful wonderful movie
Really appreciate the range of musical styles and artists you react to.
Well, the movie isn't crap and Midnight Cowboy won a lot of awards. Perfect song for Midnight Cowboy. Great movie, great acting by Dustin Hoffman & Jon Voight.

Thank you Neal. I just love it. I’m a sucker for a good instrumental song. Lol
I love this song too.

It was the first X-rated film to be nominated and win an Oscar.
@@sooutrageous007 and probably the only. It would barely be R now. But a cinema classic.
The movie was nominated for 7 Academy Awards but only won 3 (best picture, director & screenplay). It should of won best actor (Jon Voight or Dustin Hoffman) It should also won for best soundtrack, if they had such a thing.
Love your channel , Harri, and your reactions. Keep them coming!
Great composition from the movie of the same title. A great movie it was too

Had no idea it had that many accolades. Fascinating ! What a great time to go to the movies 'back then'. Less than 5 dollars, and so many classics.

The counter melody played by the strings are reminiscent of another sublime soundtrack from Barry in this period - You Only Live Twice.
From the start of the song that bluesy harmonica just draws you into this masterpiece of a song.

a classic. Beautiful. Great reaction Harri.
Thanks Harri and Cynthia. Such a pleasurable treat. 😊👍✌️🇨🇦

Thank you Mary.☮️
Diamonds for sure! Never heard a harmonica carry a melody with symphonic accompaniment. Unique and beautiful.
Music composed by a Yorkshire man ,England and the best film ever directed by a British man Sheer brilliance
One of the greatest films ever made, and sadly, being forgotten...
You’ll probably enjoy it. It’s a wonderful movie. This music is perfect 👍🎶
Toots thielemans from belgium plays the harmonica ...very very well known .
Great movie, great soundtrack!
The movie, he gets a bus to New York after saving up, it isnt what he thought, its a wonderful movie, and the song, I can listen forever.
You must see this movie...a classic...
Love this song.

Toots Thielemans RIP on the mouth organ with a painful, haunting refrain.
I love this too. It’s on my playlist.
the film midnight cowboy is a masterpiece
Thanks Harri I’m glad you liked it. ☮️🇨🇦
I heard it was a good movie. I want to see it. Great reaction. 🙂👍
amen
One of my top 5 movies 👌🏽
This is great! If you enjoyed the harmonica on this, you'll also enjoy the work John Barry did for the film 'Inside Moves'. Some of the most touching harmonica playing that I know of.
The X rating was unjustified, but didn't hurt its box office appeal, thankfully.
The movie is a masterpiece and this theme takes you right back to it.

The song is mesmerizing. A sad story, but an excellent movie. Born to be wild was from Easy Rider. I'm old I guess. Saw them both when they came out.
Not to throw any shade on anyone else, I still say John B played this song better than anybody hands-down!

No horses, just a great movie….great music too. Don’t delay….watch soon and tell us what you think.
beeeotifull!
Music in film is integral. 007/ Bond is sexy and intriguing.
That's Tommy Reilly playing in the clip. John Barry was maybe the greatest film composer of all time.
Toots Thielemans played the harmonica for the movie soundtrack. Tommy Reilly actually played the harmonica on the official album of the movie soundtrack, subsequently released.
1969 midnight cowboy.jon voight and risso.
John Voight and Dustin Hoffman
This particular version is a take on the original Ferrante & Tischer duelling piano classic.
That is a great version also.
It's a great movie!! You can rent it on TH-cam.
most beautiful harmonica pisce intregal to the great movie which u absolutly must see harri it will move tou like the harmonica piece please watch it MIDNIGHT COWBOY 1969
Harri, will this be the song you serenade us with when you've completed your harmonica training? Don't think we've forgotten your promise, mate, hehheh!
Jon Voight did at least two things very well done...Midnight Cowboy and his daughter Angelina Jolie
By all means see Midnight Cowboy preferably uncut, original.
I love your unique taste in music, sir. But please see the movie. It will all make sense in context.
This melody is the closest you'll get to heaven imo 🎶🎶❤️
Amazing instrumental. There's a version by Johnny Mathis with lyrics, too.
And a great version by Faith No More!
It’s on Tubi right now!! (Free w a few ads, when I watched it there were about 4 breaks)

RAGGA MAN
Harmonica? For the umpteenth time, listen to "The Promised Land" from Springsteen's 1980 concert from Tempe, Arizona.
TH-cam might have the movie or theirs free sites on google
My heart bleeds every time I listen to this: no lyrics necessary.
Diamonds in your ears but not on the soles of your shoes?
A great movie and very sad. Joe Buck is a tragic character. I believe it was the first movie given an "X" rating because of content not for any nudity or showing sexual acts. I
Be prepared... the movie has nothing to do with cowboys or horses! John Voight moves from Texas to NY City to be a gigolo and make money off rich women.
It’s a gritty movie, very thought provoking. In other words a real movie. Unlike most of the crap around now
This film was rated X when released. Too many violent sexual assaults and deviate subject matter for the time.
THIS is the harmonica you react to? Seriously?
Great movie. But the gay scene in the theater still bugs me even today.
@HarriBest Reactions the Movie, the Time the atmosphere 🥺 🥲 watch it ☀
